This could be cleaned up and some of the terminology and details changed a bit and its not really a bad idea. First let me elaborate on my thoughts about illegal immigration ok. The notion that the illegals who come here in the spirit of braving a foreign land where they are not that well received in order to work for wages that are minimal here but lucrative in their native land to send back to take care of their families is pretty honorable in itself.

However their are two big down sides to this the first being the economic drain on our country. Money is made here the n not spent here and that is a problem coupled with the fact that American jobs are being given to people who shouldn't be here in the first place. I know I know some of you will say "but they do the jobs we don't want to do" let me tell you I'm sure their are plenty of Americans out there right now that would take any job they could get their hands on.

The next problem and this is the worst one in my opinion is the hardened criminals that are sneaking in here with (and taking advantage of) the hard working honest folk. They are dangerous and savvy to taking advantage of the same laws meant to protect the good people. How much longer are we going to allow this problem before applying the much needed plug to the border? How many more have to die in gang/drug related violence, how many of the good people who actually want to live here and work hard will be exploited by those thugs?

So perhaps the idea be changed a bit, make it kind of a indentured servitude thing as opposed to slavery because at the end of the day that is still a CHOICE the individual can make. Say they get caught and have the choice of immediate deportation OR they can stay and work for the state for a said period of time then be granted citizenship. I'm not really sure what the solution to this ever growing problem is, maybe it will be a multi pronged approach with different facets but something needs to be done and soon.

As I said, this is the sort of extreme people have been brainwashed in to and people are so enraged over the immigration issue that I'm sure we will see more people justify this way of thinking. Though, they may try to play with words so as to not seem like they are advocating slavery.

Are you seriously defending the concept of slavery with a cat lady anecdote and "They were given a chance to leave"???

I get that this is a serious problem. Though I suspect the serious problem I see is not the same one you are referencing. There is NO excuse to advocate for the involuntary enslavement of any group of peoples. This is the kind of crap we bomb other countries for and it is absolutely unconscionable that an American is advocating for it.

Well, what's wrong with slavery? is indefensible on all levels.

Until a real solution is put forward, you are going to get all kinds of crazy ideas. And no, amnesty is no solution. It was tried and all it did was encourage more of the same.

And I didn't defend the notion of slavery. I said the idea of illegal immigration was an issue and explained why.

What you're advocating is taking children away from their families and creating a new expensive system of "orphanages". How does that seem reasonable? How would you feel or react if someone tried to take your child from you?

Also, illegal immigration is not the big bad issue it's made out to be. Illegal immigration has actually slowed due to the economic conditions. The only reason it's such an issue is because you were told so by the right-wing propaganda machine.

that would create a subclass of impoverished servants, which we are trying to avoid as a social construct, not increase.

That guy should be fired immediately for saying what he said. How can the broadcasting company he works for sanction such talk?

It's right-wing radio.

Par for the course.

No I'm pretty sure that just deporting them is the most humane thing to do.

Yea I guess... I just thought that even Conservative radio knew to not just openly endorse slavery.

Yes reinstating slavery makes so much more sense than ending the drug war and changing our foreign policy with our southern fellow humans. The deplorable conditions people flee their homes because of are largely because of US foreign policy... so let's just punish them some more for committing the offense of not being born in America.

i am sorry but there's literally nothing as unchristlike as slavery. 1) it ignores the do unto others admonition, 2) it ignores the love your neighbor as yourself, admonition, 3) it emotionally, financially and mentally abuses the slave, 4) it condones hatred, 5) it breeds rebellion.

sheesh people.

Except that it is condoned in the bible (even the NT). There is that a little hangup, but I guess the rest of your points are true.

You know I've been thinking. This radio host is PERFECT proof that no one from the "PC brigade" is banning any public speech because it is offensive. He said it. He's not arrested. He apparently isn't getting fired over it. I'm not even sure he got yelled at by his bosses for it.

not condoned in the new testament, just teaching to be peaceable with whatever your situation may be. in other words, christians weren't admonished to kill their slave masters but to live within the confines of the laws of the land, even if that law supported slavery. it didn't say you couldn't disagree with slavery, however. the old testament, on the other hand, supported slavery.

I mean whatever you want to say to help you sleep at night. If -I- were Jesus, and I was preaching to be nice to one another, I'm pretty sure I'd say that treating someone else like property isn't a good thing regardless of the laws. But hey, Jesus was just a man and a product of his times. So I can see why that little tid bit never got mentioned. Though I'm not going to defend the bible because it omitted it.

it does say that. what do you think love your neighbor as yourself, means? hehehe
if you don't want to be a slave, you wouldn't want your neighbor to be one either. nor would you want to enslave your neighbor. being kind to each other is a long way from saying the new testament supports slavery. lol

Are you really surprised by this? There are conservatives who still say African Americans were better off as slaves. Think about that for a second. In 2015, there are still conservatives who think black people were better off as slaves. Then there's the actual neo-Nazis, KKK, and other white supremacists in the conservative base, too. I'm not surprised by this at all.

Just when you think you've reached the bottom of the barrel with Republicans.....It's almost as if the barrel doesn't have a bottom to it.

unfortunately, communist countries do the same thing, only worse. they don't just task you to do their work for free, but take everything you own, including pics of your grandmother, and children and anything that isn't nailed down.

Could you imagine the outrage and the calls for him to lose his job if this was a Democrat or Left-leaning radio host?
