Then, I told you to lighten the F up.

And there you go again with the inappropriate response, what difference does it make how old something is.

people who defend the whole backwater industry that is hidden in plain sight disgust me.
Pardon? Are you saying I defend child molestation because I said that a bit in a 35 year old movie was satire?

Did Louis CK's Saturday Night Live riff on child abuse go too far?
I don't know, I didn't see it. But I'm pretty sure most everything on SNL is satirical, when it isn't just stupid.

With regards to the advert you speak about, i havent seen it but the way you describe it ..im not seeing the connection to child molestation....my son gets mouthy at bath time" i dont need a bath, i dont want a bath" etc if you have children this is quite normal, and oh wait.....im seeing it now, just as i was about to type the "repeating what i say back to mother"...im seeing it now...thats pretty sick!

it is a well known situation and my niece had that very thing happen at 10, and I know a boy who killed himself was molested by his Mother's boyfriend while he "bathed "him. This would be recognizable as what it is by any raped child or by any child rapest, but what does it have to do with hotdogs!

The fact that after watching that commercial your mind automatically jumps to 'pedophilia' shows that you may want to rethink your rather skewed thought process. How is joking about which of your children you like better have anything to do with pedophilia?

Actually yes, because you are an intelligent person and to be truthful i am surprised that you are ok with this.Satire is used here for a purpose with a child on set.

You think that I am in favor of the sexual abuse of children. Ok, I think you have an unhealthy interest in it, since you seem to see evidence of it in everything. Self hating, perhaps.

Yes. Satire with a purpose. Your source.

Louis is trying to get laughs by challenging people’s notions of what is acceptable to talk about.

I think you just nailed it right on the head with that last post.

That was a nice rope-a-dope too.

does it make you think of child molestation?
it does not for me but some people associate hot dogs and bubble baths with it so you never know.

its weird and creepy cause that was the norm in 1959.
i picture an unhappily married woman with 3 little brat kids singing this song to give her self a moment of pleasure.

Whilst I'm very sorry to hear about your niece, that is not being even vaguely alluded to in the Sonic commercial.

I've seen that commercial, and those two guys are like the Beavis and Butthead of commercials; dumb as rocks, it's their M.O.

I think I too would be tuned to pick up any association about child molestation, and don't see it in that commercial. It's simply not there. Sorry.

Ok, I still don't. What is wrong with the commercial, other than implying that he loved a hot dog mote than his own child?

?? nothing in the commercial implied any such thing.

None. Young kids are chatterboxes. You may accidentally mutter something loudly enough for them to hear and next thing you know they're asking the other parent 'mommy, daddy said you're a fata*. What's that?'
They have absolutely no filter nor sense of context most of the time.

you need to mellow a bit.

i read your post a few times trying to see what you see as child abuse and i see none.

guess it is all g rated peaches and ice cream in your house....
bummer for whoever lives with you

So if I refuse to watch sexual jokes relating to children I must watch nothing right. The commercial is clear.

The movie I off handedly chose, there are many others, The boy was real, he was there on that set with a real grown man, he was likely abused too how did he feel about the joke!

people say lighten up, this is not a light subject and I am ashamed that people who surely care do not stand up!

Add the kids’ fears that no one will believe them. There is also the untold shame which child sex abuse victims feel, plus the confusion and fear which follow. A number of former child stars, youth with innate talent for stage and screen, now adults in different stages of growth and recovery, recounted the hurt and hate they overcame following the abuse the suffered from trusted adults in the industry abusers: photographers, publicists, managers, and producers.

Char-Lee, do you think maybe you were just in a funky mood, or had been reading about/thinking about child molestation when you saw that commercial? I mean, when something's on your mind, ya know......... you might tend to make an association. Remember when everybody was seeing 11:11? Something like that maybe?

well they are talking about hotdogs which are phallic shaped...."getting mouthy at bathtime" might be a blowjob "mouthy", and "repeating what i say to mother"..well telling mother

I promise you that a national restaurant chain is not promoting child molestation in it's advertisements.
Yeah, I kinda thought it was in poor taste, but not for the reasons you do.

I have seen this particular video advert and I think I can clear up any misunderstanding and put your mind at ease with this explanation. When the actor is giving comparative examples about his children (getting mouthy at bath time and not repeating everything back to their mother) they are two separate instances and are not to meant to be read as being together if you know what I mean.

While I admire your zeal it should be focused on the real and present danger of child abuse and exploitation that festers in our communities and as has evidenced in government, religious and corporate child sex scandals.

I don' think you stand against it, the boy is real the joke is not a joke it is sick, the commercial is sick. As far as myself i want the courage to say what should be said regardless. there can be NO unhealthy interest in protecting children and stopping the monstrous wave of growing acceptance or blind eyes!
