The Times newspaper in the UK has reported that British troops and many other Western countries (P3+5) will invade Libya once they have formed a unity government. It appears that the mission will be a peacekeeping one however, Special Forces from various nations will also take part in an attempt to eradicate Islamist militants from ISIS and other terror organisations,

According to The Times a source has confirmed that we may see movement towards the end of August with things starting to move quickly into place thereafter.

Here you go:
Hundreds of UK troops set to help Libya fight advance of Isis

Hundreds of British troops are being lined up to go to Libya as part of a major new international mission to help stabilise the North African country and combat Islamic State.
Military personnel from Italy, France, Spain, Germany and the United States will also take part in an operation that looks set to be activated once the rival warring factions inside Libya agree to form a single government of national unity.

*Edit*
Sounds sensible if it helps stem the flood of migrants across the Med, I'm not surprised Italy is involved.
Who knows, maybe it's more about that and just making it easier for Italy to forcibly return migrants straight back to Libya?

I hate war..............

I was 100% against Iraq, Libya bombing and opposed Syria.....

But unfortunately I support this..... ISIS has to be annihilated. The war was already started by them and they are a threat to the UK and our allies.

Good luck to the troops and the friends I have that will be deployed. Good shooting and kill as many of the ISIS bastards as you can

I hope it works. It is from Libya that the Greek Islands and Italy are being inundated with refugees. They have been literally drowning in the ocean. I hope such a move, showing a world wide International task force effort, can stabilise Libya and make it something of a fit state for people to live in.

I was inclined to support action against Libya and Syria when those started, because I could reasonably see that we would end up where we are now through inaction, or through not finishing the job.

And I agree that we need to act now, and it's better to do so with permission from a government.

Whatever individuals feel about previous actions against Iraq and Afghanistan etc (which I also disagreed with) there is no denying that ISIS is a death cult bent on murdering as many "infidels" as possible and inflicting their barbarism on millions. If we do nothing, then we will be partially to blame for what happens as a result.

It's about time the world united to eradicate this twisted ideology.

I am so ambivalent about this. Nevermind why.

We're doing Libya again? Already? Oh, right. ISIS. That 4 letter word that lets us do whatever we want. We always 'step in' and the people we 'help' always end up worse off. Stability, my ass.

Though part of me is cynical and thinks it is more to do with controlling the refugees than anything else because they are becoming too much of a problem and beginning to destabilise regions in the West. I wish it was for genuine humanitarian reasons and hope so. Your ambivalence is not misplaced against the backdrop of history and why these problems happened in the first place.

And having ISIS in your country would be more stable?

I imagine if you had ISIS knocking on your door looking to give you a shave...you would have no problem with getting help from the West.

Just one question...

Is it an invasion if asked for help?

I think we should just wait, and see how she goes.

Except you can blame the west for the creation of ISIS. The west moved in and totally destabilized the region they helped to start a civil war in Syria and removed Saddam Hussein from power this led to the creation of ISIS. Had it not been for these actions ISIS would have never gained the power they have now. Reagan was right when he said we don't understand the politics of that region.

Well in 250 BC they weren't flying in a plane yet they knew the Earth was round, so if your on the fence about that your judgement may be a bit questionable to some.

And if we just wait and see how it goes it becomes too late to end this cancer on the world called ISIS.

I'm not sure how it can get worse than Saddam
I'm not sure how it can get worse than Gadaffi
I'm not sure how it can get worse than the Taliban
I'm not sure how it can get worse than Al-qaeda

We always have a scapegoat for war. It's all the same load of bollocks and we're usually behind it.

You know, Libya was doing just fine before NATO bombed the hell outta it. Now it's become a terrorist hell hole and lo and behold the western nations are coming to the rescue.

All part of the destabilization of the Middle East.

No those who think ISIS is a conspiracy believe that...those who know don't.

I forgot it's all the US fault because we are to blame for the worlds problems...have you ever thought those problems were always there they just used this to become more of the problem.

Reagan was right, but that doesn't prove the US was behind ISIS and we are the reason they are there...that would be a bit naive to think that.

My gut feeling is, that this whole thing is a huge international snake eating its own tail, created to be destroyed,
i am hearing in finland, that here some foreign men trying to get people join them, but that really does not prove anything to me personally, because how can i know, who has sent these people here..

But everything else is wrong in this place anyway, so what does it matter, people are going to kill people.

(fudge there are many typos, sorry i have not slept in two days, noisy neighbour syndrome.)

In the case of ISIS and Iraq, you are damn right it's the US & friends fault. They knew exactly what would happen and they did it anyway. Cheney knew full well the outcome of overthrowing Saddam and he did it anyway.

If Only Dick Cheney Had Listened To This Iraq War Critic...

Well you wouldn't have thought it could...but it did.

None of the above saw it fit to crucify someone.

www.huffingtonpost.com...

Also the amount of beheading's is ridiculous, not that a single beheading isn't...but the fact is they are more brutal than all those above combined.
