Podcast + Oculus Rift = PodRift

PodRift aims at changing the passive podcast listening experience to an interactive mind explosion by transporting listeners, guests and podcasters as avatars to virtual environments viewed through Oculus Rift goggles.

Their meeting rooms need some love and those goggles do nothing for our hair (joysticks have their advantages) but a little tin foil and paint and a virtual wine cellar or two and our ATS custom VR discussion rooms could be cool...

I'd love to walk into a VR room, sit down and watch Puterman and company discussing earthquakes or another mega thread topic...with moving avatars, in shared space.

I feel like Pinocchio wanting to be a bit more real than present platforms accommodate...ya know?

I completely understand this thread is about a NYC venue which sounds appealing for me , just not viable.

Try running a conference call with individuals in Israel, France, Italy, and 3 different US time zones all the same time. Not pretty, although entertaining.... And that's leaving out our Aussie mates (sorry guys!) who are even further ahead.

Absolutely!! All of this reading and typing is time consuming! I'd rather listen and communicate with dialect! Great idea and it should be looked into.

Once we get to NYC, what are we going to do. Symposiums on correct thread writing? Films by members? Plenty of drinking I'd assume so will there be a fund to bail members out of jail or pay for the emergency room?

Actually the thought of a bunch of ATS'ers at a meetup has given me quite a few chuckles just imagining it. Half the group is so paranoid that they are likely to show up in disguise or totally freak out if someone pulls out a camera. And God forbid if anyone should show up with a FEMA or CIA badge....roflmao....

The other half would probably be running around pulling such pranks.
