Another Black Female (Kindra Chapman) Dies In Custody Hours After Being Booked

Very sad that something like this is allowed to happen, an hour and 20 minutes before someone checks on a new, young prisoner, yes it stinks even if the youngster did take her own life. To add, Direspectful posts stink as well.

I dont know if anyone of you guys been in jail, but I HAVE NEVER been in jail and had a cell all alone to myself.

ESPECIALLY a holding tank has tons of poeple in it, and they do not just give you your own cell..
There is usually 4 people to a cell after you get out of the holding tank and into the general pop..

Teenagers often kill themselves over what we older adults perceive as trivial matters.

She might have had very strict parents that made a lot of threats or she had a lot of other things going on in her life and this arrest was the last straw.

I grew up with a guy who killed himself at 16 years old and, from the outside, it would seem that he did it because of a bad report card. The truth is, his dad was an evil son of a bitch.

The media has their eyes on anything that happens to a black person while the police are present.

I spent a week once for contempt of court and though they did give me a blanket, they charged me $20 for preexisting holes...anything for a buck I guess.

On topic and into the world of conspiracy:
Do you feel, as I do, that with all these race baiting incidents that have happened over the past year or so: Trayvon, Brown, the subsequent riots in Ferguson, Grey and the Baltimore riots, Garner, Bland, Chapman, the murders at the church in SC with the subsequent attack on the confederate flag (which has led to vandalism, theft of property, and acts of violence against supporters) all these incidents and more are the kindling for the fire that will be the chaos that will erupt once TPTB crash the dollar...or [add your favorite DOOM PORN here]?

Homewood, Alabama.. I don't know how big the county is, but wow must be nice to get a whole cell to yourself..
Just never seen it in my life. Also even if you have your own cell, they have a general space where you eat, have some sort of central television ect. your not kept in your cell all day and night so she HAD TO BE IN their with other women. SOMEWHERE

They never show the mugshot just some old pics in order to garner sympathy. Not cool and very agenda driven dishonest journalism. IMHO, of course.

I can relate, boy can I relate.

However the fact is a young woman managed to hang herself in a cell while in custody. That should not have happened unless there was a more nefarious or negligent element.

I think you're leaving out some important variables here.
Suicide rates are significantly lower among blacks not to mention the female rate in itself is lower than the male gender. To go along with that, the suicide rate among the 15 - 24 age group is the second lowest out of 6 age groupings. With that being said, it's highly unlikely that this young woman hung herself. Take a look at these statistics.

Without information to go on its difficult to form an opinion. Having said that, once in police custody, it's the duty of jail to keep inmates safe.

However, without booking information there's nothing to validate if this young girl said she was suicidal. If I'm not mistaken, upon booking if the inmate declares he/she has in the past attempted suicide or indicates feelings as such; they are put on 24 hour observation or suicide watch until they've spoken with a psychological professional.

I'm sure more details will be released soon.

I understand what you are saying, the "mole" could very well be a scab hard to tell with the resolution of the mugshot photo, add that to the angle of the heads along with the 3-4 yrs ( or 5-6 yrs as MoreBeer has suggested) age difference between the pics...who knows...I'll leave it to those better educated than I, to answer that one. I do however lean toward it being the same person, and hell I have moles that I didn't have a few years ago. 2cents.

That is true, media tend to have an angle, but the thing is, it's often the case that without the media it would go unreported.

I'll add that the Justice department US, have found that police deaths unrecorded have far greater numbers than even Obama opined to, and for that you can thank the F.B.I.
