In my perception austerity is not only the conservative, neo-liberal answer to modernity but the result of greed already active and it justifies the result of the bad idea.

The word “austerity” is like putting perfume on a pig, its still a pig even with perfume and you can’t hide the pig through its contact with perfume.

All the austerity in Europe has failed and any attempt to say well there finally growing the GDP in Spain so it must be working doesn’t consider the 25 percent unemployment rate still roaring in Spain.

Austerity tries to hide the fact that it is a remedy for the excesses of the Bankers and high finance swindlers who have in bulk bribed the politicians to implement austerity ONLY on the middle and lower class. It never is applied to the upper class. The austerity of the banking and upper class is a bailout into the billions and even trillions for only a few elite institutions.

The elite groups never are asked to sacrifice.... Never are called to account for their financial crimes.

They are shielded by politicians like Obama and Tony Blair from any semblance of justice

Not really, it wouldn't be to hard with the internet . To set up a barter market, where products were just exchanged . Their was a great Sci. Fi book written once, that equated the time spent on the production of an item, to Credits. If say I gave you a pound of spuds, and it was agreed that that pound of spuds took four hours of labour on my part to produce . In my credit book you would sign that four hours as a credit to me. Payable by labour, or another item worth part or whole of the four hours credit. The Credits can be bought or sold etc.

Well you will have to find a way to drag the masses away from their footy, soap opera's and reality shows...if this can be achieved you may be able to garner some interest...until then not much will change...

On a small scale, barter works awesome. For example, I did floors of a doctor at cost, with a promise to be able to go to that doctor at cost. Same with a dentist, same with the plumber that did our pipeworks, same with the HVAC guy that di our ductwork, same with a mechanic that worked on our vehicles. Etc etc. It works, as long as you have some skill to offer.

Lets say, one person in a hundred was voted in as book keeper in that area. Mr Smith did five hours labour for Mr Brown. Mr Browns debt is five credits . The Book keepers, areas of credit builds as the credits role in, which in reality are promissory notes for labour . The area needs apples, so the value of a ton of apples, worth of credits is transferred to the apple grower. People come to the shop, and give promissory notes, and take some apples home. They phone up the peoples labour exchange for work, where they can amount more credits by working. The Apple grower transfers credits to his suppliers and so on. If you take the P%^$#, you work for the basics until, your credit limit is acceptable. Like water everyone will find an equitable level. Life would be interesting, as no one can profit for doing nothing.

Ah hell, let's just make the minimum wage $100/hour. Why not? It's a living wage ... No wait, I don't think that's enough. Why should my kids have to live a life less extravagant than Beyoncé's kid? I think minimum wage should be more like $500 or maybe $1,000/hour ...

I mean those corporations are just rich right? Thay can pay me whatever I think I need.

Apply your logic to the wages CEOs make. They want to make more money than anyone while paying their workers pennies or better yet eliminating their jobs and sending their labor to a third world sweatshop. Its so ironic to me that the people in charge want to make money hand over fist but when their workers want a more fair share of the fruits of their labors, they are "greedy" or "lazy". Horse &($#@

Don't STRIKE but boycott the hell out of the 1%. Imagine if 60% of the people took all their money out of the banks and stopped eating at mcds and shopping at Walmart? Boycotts could hit them harder than anything could and they would have to take really draconian measures to stop it.

Not so 'worthless' then is it ?

If people don't realize we are at the starting point of the French revolution on a world wide scale they are probably part of that 1% so insulated from the reality the rest of the world.

It must be hard to hear the cries of the common worker with all those household servants bustling about.

Everything the lady says mirrors the same venom spewed by the conservatives since Reagan. Major manufacturing entities fled the country seeking slave wages in Mexico, Central and South America and Asia. Sears was caught stealing a mans' Patent of a innovated tool and sold it to a Chinese manufacturer only to send product back to America for retail sale. People are so stupid. They swallowed their propaganda hook and sinker. Mass disinformation claimed working people are socialist and/or communists allowed robbing the country the means to make a living. While everyone was looking for reds, Nazi sponsored leaders ( Johnson, Nixon, Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush lite and Obama ) took control to ease America's introduction into the Fourth Reich's New World Order.

Rather than owning it and apologize, the same Nazi controlled politicians and pundits already got the next "selections" ready to sit in tax funded thrones to keep opposition muzzled. What we see in Greece is only the latest in the scheme of global control. We are seeing the last phases and American's should be aware we're poised for economic collapse. If people refuse to heed the warning than they should consider the obvious and ask themselves "after thirty plus years of voter frustration on the lack of jobs in America, why has absolutely nothing been done to bring industry back to our shores? Amid a sea of promises, no signs of progress is seen. What we see is China building a lot of Aircraft Carriers, but no new "real" jobs in America's heartland.

To illustrate how gullible of America's electorate, let's look back to the day of our sweet and honorable Rev. Jerry Falwell who armed with legions of the "Moral Majority" insisted on television that HIV and AID's "is" God's punishment on America for the lack of anti-homosexual actions and policies. To say something so asinine as that is beyond stupidity. Especially to us then and people who know now HIV and AID's is the result of CIA funded research in bio-engineering and weaponry. In fact, just about all autoimmune diseases are a result of monkey viruses and how they were manipulated in the labs of Fort Dietrich and others and has everything to do with the explosion of new cancer rates in America.

Personally, i believe a special spot in Hell awaited Jerry. However, thats not the main point. Jerry's legions guaranteed the success of Nazi officials in gaining office. Bush Sr. vision of the New World Order is in operation today. Also, let's not forget, his father, Prescott and his affiliation with Union Bank of New York. A Bank confiscated by the FBI for it's involvement in money laundering for Hitler. That he was a member of other pro-Nazi organizations who's roots go back to the beginnings of eugenics programs in America.

In summery: Ignorance is not an excuse. Especially now when citizen demands are neglected and treason destroys the Constitution. Everyone in hear sight should know that our leaders are aiding and abetting the crimes of Nazi Bankers before our eyes. a reply to: Kali74

This is why their is now a great big push by many of the worlds governments into units. It is almost impossible for people to grow their own food in a unit. A much smaller percentage also own units to whom own houses. If you own your own home on a bit of land (about 1 to 2 acres) you are not as reliant upon others for your survival as you can grow enough food for your survival and can live in your own home for not a large amount Eg property taxes. Almost every thing that we consume today is not produced by ourselves and relies on us having money to purchase it or keep it. Your mobile, computer internet, gas, electricity, fuel, car servicing, public transport, water, food you cannot grow yourself, toiletries, household appliances, lighting and many other things and services have to be paid for with money. In modern society we are totally reliant on money and take a huge amount of goods and services for granted.

We should all be in the streets, not rioting but just there, in our squares. Our real economic power would show if we did it, I mean really did it. Everyone making under 22/hr (USD), which is what the minimum wage should be, should be out on the streets en masse for 2 days, all over the world. The entire world economy depends on us and we are pooped on.

LOL you think every person working is worth $22/hr? Why stop there? Why not $75?

Dagann you are preaching to the choir with that post. I knew Jerry Falwell before he became famous, I did yard work for him back before the Moral Majority came in to existence. Anyways, what you said about how he and the religious right enabled the Republican/4thReich to take over the US in their quest for a One World Government was all too true. Few seem to note that connection yet it was a very important turning point. You probably remember how the Iran/Contra hearings went down and how Bush Sr. managed to stay clear of the whole despite the fact he was running the show. When the people who should be imprisoned then become your President you know you're in trouble.

Western civilization is nearly over. The great flood is coming, only this time the "flood" will wipe the genetic slate clean, and DNA like yours and ours will be swirling around the toilet for one final flush, just as it should. Orwell said, "If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stomping on a human face - forever." That's pretty close, but instead of a boot it's a tactical DC parkour shoe, and the human face is grinning ear to ear. The face is grinning because we all crave drama and torment and punishment. We crave drama because when our lives are dramatic and miserable they more closely resemble an episode of Sex and the City or one of those Zach Rogan romantic comedies we like, featuring Russel Brand as Effeminate Annoying Piece of Crap and some nasally-voiced big-nosed actress you've never heard of before as Lovable Everygirl Who Makes Witty Jokes About Her Period. Anyways, moving on (I promised myself this wouldn't become an anti-movie rant, Jesus), We're all stars in our own movies and we crave BDSM whippings subconsciously. It's not like we're actually being oppressed - we could literally wake up, collectively decide to change the world, and vote our way to a free and just society. That is so preposterous it sounds like the premise to a feel-good TV movie - "Yea, Murray, so then the main characters all get together and they're allowed to vote on what they want" ... "Bill, that's too hokey, nobody will ever believe that, c'mon get it together, you're thinking like a sheep today!"

The problem... the reason why we will never effectively use this Super Power, is that we are all deranged retards and we deserve to be slaves. We need to be slaves. We need our mommy/daddy/nanny to hold our hands and tell us to be quiet. Can you imagine the chaos that would result if everyone thought for themselves? Read the intro chapter of Propaganda by Edward Bernays. We make the most important decisions the same way we make the (seemingly) least important decisions. We look at ukulele-driven upbeat advertisements, cute logos, rabid news anchors. The New York Times, and our stupid friends, and we choose our leaders the same way we choose toothpaste. Does your toothpaste have sodium laureth sulfate in it? (Yeah, it does). Did you know that's an industrial floor cleaner? Do you ever wonder why your gums are receding and your mouth smells like a water buffalo's ass? You deserve to have all your teeth fall out, just like you deserve to have your money taken away, to be spied on, to be tagged like some zoo animal, and to be welded shut inside a metal coffin and shot into space.

Anyways, the point here is that the world is ending, so you might as well go check out some cool antiques. The world is on fire and no one smells the smoke. So go find a nice walnut hutch to put books and things in. Find a nice looking vase that you like for your girlfriend's apartment, even though she never changes the cat's litter box because she's lazy and apathetic and has no life motivation. Don't wash any dishes. Find a wicker chair you like. Make sure your apartment is full of nice things even though you can't really afford all this kitschy junk because the most you'll ever make with that $180,000 graphic design degree is $25 an hour. Do the math on that. Also, I want nice dinners, and a baby. I want a baby and I want us to spend $35 on food a day average. I bought something, isn't this great?

I find it remarkable that one's worth should dictate whether a person can afford a home, food, and necessities.

I stop at 22/hr because that is what the minimum wage should be if it had kept up with inflation and the cost of living. Anyone working 40 hours a week or more ought to be able to live on that, not lavishly but basically. Nothing short of 22/hr will allow for basics.

I totally agree. Now we face the possibility of another fuhrer...err...i mean Bush in the Oval Office. As scary that is, to talk to the average garden variety voter and so-called patriot types is like pulling whale teeth. Most are totally ignorant of the true history of America. To attempt doing so often results with disbelieving and suspicion. Then you get the famous "yeah...but" response and ultimately get the "if that's true...they'd been arrested and convicted of treason" reply. Then you'd hear what the other party's done. Like you're point is not really valid ...so who cares.

However, one response is valid concerning "the other party" argument in that they refuse to investigate and charge defendants involved. That by itself shows their own part in the crime(s). I view both the democrats and republicans the "Pete brothers." Pete "and" RePete. Both are obviously criminal enterprises working for the same master. a reply to: Asktheanimals
