Today's situation is child's play compared to the Cold War. So why would these "prophecies" be fulfilled now if they weren't fulfilled then?
Iran, on the other hand, not only doesn't have nuclear weapons but is forbidden from having them. And that's according to their Supreme Leader himself!

It would look like the paradisiacal places that were Stalin's USSR and Pol Pot's Cambodia and Mao's China I'm guessing.
Horrible people are horrible no matter why they excuse their awfulness, but to those who would rather not understand that mankind is essentially flawed, it's much easier to blame everything else: guns, religion, poverty, society, race, etc.
And none of us is blameless. We all fall prey to the impulse from time to time because it feels good to put ourselves on that pedestal.

Of course, I think the world is complacent.
Everyone thinks that no one would be mad enough to fire off a nuke because no one has. We have MAD you see. And this whole treaty seems to be based on the idea that if Iran has nukes, it will also become a magically safer, saner nation.
Imagine a world ruled by the powerful elite/s with no one to answer to - a godless world.

We already have that - and it sucks.
What say we remedy it by improving regulation, dealing with income inequality, and doing away with lobbying?
That would fix a whole HELLA lot a things.
(Vote for Bernie. Bernie Sanders.)
So I guess my point with this is that you can talk/type until you're blue in the face and live an otherwise pristine and righteous life, but ultimately the only person you can directly control and be fully responsible for is yourself.
The point is - the World is broken and can't be fixed. Hence as a religious person, the solution is beyond human capability but supernatural.
In fact the hidden source of our problem - IS supernatural.
Let's take the system you hate because it has all the power, and fix it by giving it even more power.

I am concerned for Israel and its peace and security. Things are moving into place now.

I think we have a long, long way to go before there is a general sense of being in "peace and security".
Are there many signs of that complacent attitude at the moment?

I think it is more pertinent to consider Jeremiah 6:14 "Peace, Peace, they say, when there is no peace."-NIV
This indicates there will probably never be a defined "sense" of peace on a grand scale, but rather propaganda disseminated by the world leaders. Likely this propaganda relates to the "frogs" that come from the mouths of the Dragon (Satan), the Beast (World Politics), and False Prophet (The Predominant World Power) at Revelation 16:13.
US secretary of state John Kerry struck a positive tone on Friday about China’s commitment to pressuring North Korea to dismantle its nuclear program.
Kerry told reporters in Beijing that he has discussed “almost every subject of concern for the United States and China and the region” with Chinese leaders during his 24-hour visit to the capital, including “the commitment that the United States and China share to achieve a de-nuclearized North Korea, as well as a special role that China can play in helping to make that goal a reality.”
The discussions had been positive, Kerry said. “I’m pleased that on every level, in all of our conversations today, China could not have more forcefully reiterated its commitment to that goal, its interests in achieving that goal, and its concerns about the risks of not achieving that goal – in terms of what it might mean, in terms of stability on the peninsula, as well as the potential for an arms race in the region.”

I think you are too worried about conjecture and not what is prophesied in the scriptures.
A. What we know is there will be a tribulation.
B. We do not know what causes it.
C. Only one passage references any possible World War III scenario, and that is Daniel 11:44 which pertains to the US and Russia.

Looking at what the attitude of the world right now, it's very obvious the world body is tired of war and have been beating the drum beat of "give peace a chance". I think this event marks a pivotal moment in world history when people will think NOW is the time to pursue "peace and security".
Per my research, next in the agenda - pressure Israel to accept this deal for the sake of peace in the region.
Once this is done, they will pivot (as the report say) to Syria and deal with ISIS once and for all.
The ball is now rolling.
