If we did that, abortion wouldn't be available for a political tool. It's that simple.

Male Birth Control by 2017

They've been touting male birth control for decades. It'll never come.

But hey, we've got 10 kinds of pills for erectile dysfunction!

I absolutely hate Planned Parenthood! Not just because of this but all the creepy things they do. They just need to go away, start a new organization with REAL medical professionals not a bunch of quacks.

They haven't done anymore than a hospital does when family donates a deceased loved one. The hospital will get fees for preparing the body. What creepy things do you refer to?

Only 3% of what they do is abortions. The rest is birth control and health screenings. Often at little or no cost to those of low income. They employ real doctors and nurses.

Don't you love my solution? If all people past the age of puberty are forced into temporary sterilization by the government, that will solve all our abortion problems. Let's look at every person/couple as if they are a potential adoptive parent, and put them through rigorous government-mandated requirements before they are allowed to procreate.

I kind of wish congress would investigate it, with the condition that if it's found to be a baseless accusation that the ones responsible for this video has to pay the congress's salaries for the time they wasted on it and reimburse planned parenthood for the cost defending themselves would incur...
like I said there's been lots of claims made over the years, if there was any basis to any of them, surely we'd be able to find where they lost a case.

Not sure if anyone posted already...if so, please disregard. This is the official statement from the VP of Communications at Planned Parenthood regarding the video.

“A well funded group established for the purpose of damaging Planned Parenthood’s mission and services has promoted a heavily edited, secretly recorded videotape that falsely portrays Planned Parenthood’s participation in tissue donation programs that support lifesaving scientific research. Similar false accusations have been put forth by opponents of abortion services for decades. These groups have been widely discredited and their claims fall apart on closer examination, just as they do in this case.”
- See more at: www.plannedparenthood.org...
< br />
Statement

It is perfectly acceptable and legal for the person having an abortion procedure to sign for permission to donate tissue samples for medical research. That is a far cry from illicitly selling "fetal body parts" for profit, as the makers of the video are trying to claim. It's nothing but complete bunk.

Summary:

Nucatola admits on hidden camera that Planned Parenthood charges per-specimen for baby body parts, uses illegal partial-birth abortion procedures in order to get salable parts, and is aware of their own liability for doing so and takes steps to cover it up.

Nucatola described how abortion procedures are altered not for the safety of women but to get the most marketable body parts, including intact livers, hearts, and heads, which are highly sought by those who procure human body tissue for research.

In the video, she speaks in detail about how she meticulously “crushes” above and below the head to destroy the baby while leaving its head intact. Nucatola said she “huddles” with her staff in the morning to go over which body parts are requested by buyers and then comes up with a game plan to harvest those organs from the unborn babies that will be aborted that day.

The fee is per specimen, just like most research labs give. They have to meet to figure out what they have to donate to whom, based on who is asking for what. I do not see anywhere in the video where she says partial birth abortions are done to facilitate this. I do not see that procedures are done that go against the wishes of the patient. If they donate organs, they will take measures to preserve organs. Otherwise, there are less viable parts for research. The fees are pretty standard. They mainly 'break even'. If $5 is left over, it goes back into the non profit. 97% of what they do is health screenings and provide birth control, often to lower income people. They do give health screenings to males, as well. Where is the profit in this? If is is an organ selling mill, they would need to be making a LOT more money.

Just noticed which forum this is in.

Breaking political news? That in itself is somehow very telling, eh?

Not science. Not gray area. Political.

I'd say it should be moved. To the hoax bucket.

I know someone who recently miscarried her second child. She was twelve weeks along when she went into labor. After a few hours, she gave birth to a live baby boy. They named him Sawyer and only had a few hours with him before the inevitable as twelve weeks is still too young for him to have had any real hope of survival.

Children like him are summarily executed every day in this country because they are an "inconvenience."

And people scream at the thought of restrictions set at 20 and 21 weeks ... What kind of people are we?

Either you are lying or your friend is. At 12 weeks, the "baby" is barely recognizable as a potential human, and cannot live outside the womb. Even the most hardy of fetuses would not survive for minutes outside the uterus, much less for "a few hours". They don't even have actual skin at 12 weeks gestation. The earliest a fetus has ever been able to survive outside the womb was 21 weeks.

Please stop fabricating things and passing them off as truth. Seriously.

Development at 12 Weeks
The baby measures about 2 inches and starts to make its own movements. You may start to feel the top of your uterus above your pubic bone. Your doctor may hear the baby's heartbeat with special instruments. The sex organs of the baby should start to become clear.

Now, now .. we don't need any of your facts from actually WATCHING the video.

Yes, abortion clinics sell baby parts. Have been for a very, very long time. The woman in the video is the chief doctor for PP and throws out a $30 - $100 "per specimen" figure. What I didn't know is that it's a violation of federal law. My dear old mom was a nurse at an abortion clinic. Couldn't stomach it very long. Hard to describe what it is like to handle parts of babies removed from a woman.

Is abortion wrong? Depends on how you look at it. But that's not really the issue here.

The that was released was reduced from 2 hours and 42 minutes to 7 minutes in order to make it look like what it is not.
The so called research company having lunch with her are from a front for a right wing think tank. That makes what they are trying to say when they released this video, a hoax.

What do you know? I told you what they told the rest of us. If you prefer to make yourself feel better about it by accusing me (or them) of lying ... whatever. At most, I got the wrong number of weeks, and it was older, but it wasn't 20 or 21 weeks. I do know that. She hadn't been pregnant for long.

It's not in violation of federal law. That is a figure in regard to legal fees collected for preservation, transportation, etc and is noted as legal for donation of fetal parts in the statute. The law and the wording has been posted and sourced multiple times in this thread.

I don't get it.

Anti-abortionists usually want smaller government. . . but they want the government to tell people what they can and can't do regarding abortion and birth control?

So...it's OK to have big government sometimes, if it aligns with your personal moral compass?

We just want equal rights for the human beings that aren't born yet. Was giving LGBT equal rights a burden as well?

I'd ask the same.

12 weeks would be incredibly inaccurate. 20 weeks, maybe.

"More than half of Americans live in states where abortion is prohibited at about 24 to 26 weeks of pregnancy. In many of the states, the law bans abortion when a fetus is deemed viable outside the womb, which is generally in the range of 24 to 26 weeks." NY TIMES Source

Giving LGBT people equal rights was easy. They're physically attached to another person and depend on them for growth, sustenance, life, blood, etc, etc.

An unborn child's rights are a little murky, because they're technically PART of the mother until such time that they're born, which, legally, the date of birth is the date a fetus becomes a person.

Aside from the moral arguments...ethically speaking, should an organization that is tasked to council/educate/assist women and girls considering abortion also be profiting from aborted fetuses

Watching her creepy, nonchalant, disaffected, vulture-like demeanor when talking about the profit potential to be mined from an innocent baby as well as possibly the worst moment of a woman's life - I'd say hell no.
