Wait . Cant use Georgia for that one. That is our NEW one. We dropped the old Confederate Flag and the people of our state voted that one in....

Bait and switch.

The current Georgia flag is the actual Flag of the Confederacy, with the Georgia State Seal in the center of the blue field.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Yeah, the right of states to enslave people.

But that is you came to ahead to settle once and for all the nullification theorem .

What?

Thank you that exactly proves my point . You have no idea what the nullification theorem is. So you only have a limited knowledge of what occurred to precipitate the Civil War .

The Alabama and Florida flags are based on the Spanish Cross of Burgundy and are representations of the cross of St. Andrew.

They were created due to the history of the Spanish hertiage in the area back in the day.

I am referring to this same article where I saw it on another site. ON THAT SITE it started an argument with some people arguing in favor of such. I wasn't referring to the poster on this thread. You misunderstood.

Why yes people gotta get rid of any reminders of people who actually tried to leave the United States.

That my friends is rewriting history.

The US is like the mafia. You can join. But you can never leave.

If you try you get fitted with cement shoes, and tossed in the river.

The "nullification theorem" is an attempt to ignore the Constitution.

Particularly, the Supremacy Clause.

This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, anything in the constitution or laws of any state to the contrary notwithstanding.

COTUS, Article Six, Clause 2

The Constitution ... read it sometime.

Here is your original Ad hom attack .........

Why the need to attack people, its a childish tactic that dosent help your heroic movement, so like i said earlier go buy your chinese made confederate flags and wave them proud, thats the true american way.

My reply was that I wasn't attacking people I was holding them to their original opinion .

I also ask you whether this was the first time on ATS that people for help to their original position. As you claimed in your next Ad hom attack upon me .

Yet you still can't answer that ?

You know, I have seen you post enough that I KNOW you appreciate some philosophy?

Just take a gander at what is happening and I'll give you a comparison!

Put 50 children of the age of 3 in a room of all different color skin.

Watch them play!

You won't see segregation, you won't see racism, you'll just see children having a whole lot of fun playing with other children?

Now let's as adults, take a look at "Politics/Politicians" and how adults have become just as impressionable as children who may have racists/bigots as parents........

Are we all really adults if we have allowed the politicians BEHAVIOR to influence us?

I get it though. Physics is at play now along with DIVISION.

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction?

I know what nullification is. But to repeat, I don't understand what you meant when you wrote this:

I think you missed my edit...sorry for the confusion.

I concur with what you wrote, Mississippi is the only state flag with the dixie cross.

What bothers me is I think a confederacy form of government can work, however now the word confederacy is now associated with slavery and racial tensions, at least here in the US. Not much different than the swastika now being a symbol of hate, when it used to be a positive symbol of good fortune.

Auto correct The words "is you" should have been issue. I apologize for technology, I repeatedly see words butchered by it but I take the time to try and understand the meaning anyway instead of pointing out a error.

Are these other flags OK or would you like to have them censured also ?

No one had the SC flag "censured". The state legislature voted to take it down. That's STATES' RIGHTS.

As regards these other flags, it's up to the STATE and really none of our business. They are FREE to have their flags. That's not censure, that's FREEDOM!

Funny!

I wonder why people sing a different tune when state decide to enforce immigration LAWS, and make their own laws concerning marriage.

Then it's a TOTAL different story.

I did miss the edit.

however now the word confederacy is now associated with slavery and racial tensions,

But it is solely associated with slavery because of the interpretation given by the victors in the war . The Civil War was fought on the issue of slavery and this is shouted from the ramparts by the federal government .

There were far more mitigating factors involved in the Civil War besides slavery. But the federal government narrative wants to obfuscate those issues because the whole nation was placed under the federal government's form of slavery because they won the Civil War .

And as far as "nullification" goes, the Confederacy itself wasn't even committed to the idea.

The Confederate constitution clearly specifies that they planned to expand west, take territory and establish new states that would be required by their central government to allow slavery.

Did the South Carolina Legislature vote to take down the flag or not?

Muddy the issue after you answer the question.

Censure occurred when people as supplied by my definition took extreme disapproval upon the flag in the South Carolina house and senate .

Is there a problem with that? People voted into position took action on something they voted on... Is there something wrong with that? Is there anything wrong if all seven other flags are voted to be removed by each state's legislature?

Isn't this thread a "complaint" of sorts? Or are you stating approval of SC's decision to remove their flag?

I understand what you're saying completely and I like it .

I have watched my grandchildren play they see absolutely no color whatsoever . If adults could leave them alone to their beliefs racism might disappear in one generation .

Think of these flags as a kind of Rorschach. If you want to see a confederate flag, you will.

The Southern states voted to leave the union.

So now voting 'matters' eh.
