I will now await the mass exodus of Spaniards from Spain, and the return of Ex pat Britons from the location as well. Tyranny is rarely this blatant in the west. I am shocked.

Yep economic depression, censorship, aggression in Europe, suspension of rights and oppression . It looks like a mirror image of pre World War II conditions. Does everyone remember what that amounted to ?

I'm sure everyone knows because when conditions like this present their self. It makes things ripe for the rise of fascism .

Let's put it this way because you actually made an excellent point right here. In the past, the great depression hit right before WW2 and ww1. What exactly caused the depression and the economic downfall?

Who were the men sucking up the economy and resources? Why did they do that?

Answer: Money laundering, Theft and hoarding. So where does the money go? To fund wars or world wars or pay mercenaries (*cough Isis Alqaeda (or however its spelled aka the CIA.)

Now for the next question, are we seeing the same trend happening now as it did in world war 1 and 2?

The answer is yes. So now you know what is coming.

This thread has made me realise how much we all comment on situations around the world yet none of us have ever been there and cannot understand how different societies are effected differently by the same problems.

Some of these comments show zero knowledge of Spanish society, the structure of Spanish Gov. and the structure of the multiple different police forces (for want of a better word) at work in the country.

Doom porn with no knowledge.

I've just realised I'm filling my head with utter rubbish reading this site everyday.

I'm out of here.

How you observe the world is your own affair.

I choose to have as much data as possible before forming an opinion. I know many people from Spain, and people who have lived there for a time after leaving the UK. There are problems there, but there is never going to be an issue in any western society which can validate this sort of nonsense!

Last reply then I'm taking a massive break from here:

There is a huge divide between how the expats and Spaniards are affected by the current situation. There is a massive divide between various Spanish cultures on how they will react.

None of this is addressed here.

Knowing people from a country, or knowing expats in that country gives a skewed idea of that country.

For starters there's a three tier system of governing.

There's the inherent right wing attitude of the older populace contrasted by the lefty young.

The older generation experienced Franco.

The benefits system is unique and has either hugely positive effects on people or hugely negative - depends how much you've claimed previously.

The employment figures are skewed due to the amount of unemployed working cash in hand.

But all of this is pushed aside and dealt with through sweeping doom porn statements.

I'm not directing this at you True Brit it's more of a dig at the way ATS has turned into the place it has. I'm to blame for it as much as anyone. But it stops here for me.

Well looks like we get to know which nation will be to burst in to flames when all things go bad. Spain wouldn't have been even my first guess for this. But been wrong be for.

I don't really see how the Spanish people will put up with this. They seems to be very out spoken, at least all the ones I know and have seen.

Maybe someone just really wants the system to fail and it just picking the most like spot to start the dominos.

How free the people of the western world are...

The governments of many of the western states are in panic, they realize now that the people slowly wake up, that the people can´t stand it anymore to be ruled by some wealthy individuals, which enslave the not wealthy, the normal people.
Only to get richer and richer.
They let us feel and know that we, the people, the own citizens and taxpayers of those states, are the terrorists.
This will turn some people maybe indeed into terrorists, and the people in those governments know this, and the people behind the curtains know aswell, the people who rule those governments, the slaveholders with the money.

But hey, we have to be happy about all this, because what ever the slaveholders do, they do it only for us, for the people, for our security, our freedom, the have to save us from ourselves, our own minds, be more thankfull...

Having lived in Spain for 15 years until very recently I felt qualified to give an opinion on the OP, and did so, hoping to give a little context to the whole gag law issue. Nobody seems to have responded to what I commented though so...
I hugely admire the strength and conviction of the Spanish people to keep their hard earned democracy, they suffered for far too long to give it up in the silly way some political commentators are so keen to promote.
It is, as usual, just one of the political footballs that those with agendas like to kick around, to distract us by saying "look over there, it is way worse over there!".

The citizens of Spain will not stand for this.

Very soon you will be seeing heads on stakes. Peaceful protest will not correct this insanity, ffs they aren't even allowed to protest!

Those who are supposed to enforce these laws better pick a side real quick.

Not all right wingers are the same with the same views. The right wing in one country is the left in another. Spains people need to rise up in a inquisition yet again and drive out the politicos.

Yo people when it comes to other countries ?

Right, and left are flipped.

Funny though as an example of the right in America getting called nazis.

Germany was totally different. Just like the UK is totally different.

Just like Spain is totally different than the US.

The only thing that is sad here is people protesting austerity.

Yo the money ran out, except now considering the sheer number of people who will be protesting, and getting fined.

Looks like 'austerity' might not have to happen after all.

Government no matter where on this rock as so sly.

Well, what would you prefer, a return to the far right of facism?

Fire up the ovens, dissent is illegal there, too.

It doesn't matter which side you are on, the people are all on one side oppressed by their government. The EU is a failed common currency experiment. Blaming it on people is a distraction.

A leftists dream.

This is the left in action.

This quote from the men who run Spain's government.
"We're speaking the same language as the people. We know what they feel and we're making the same analysis they are," said Juan Carlos Monedero, 51, a Podemos founder and, like Iglesias, a professor of political science."
www.reuters.com...
(This article explains how the leftist's came to power that now run Spain)

We now see what the left in action is really like don't we?

Really totalitarian at heart and when in power, totalitarian in action.

The left's motto appears to be:
You will only say things we approve of.
You will only think things we approve of.
If you don't, we will punish you.
Because we speak the people's language,
and the peoples language is what we tell them it will be.

Hmmmmm, sounds eerily like the current rhetoric of the left in the US doesn't it?

Hmmmmm, looks eerily like Hillary physically rounding up and roping off journalists to keep them away from her.

??? People on the left don't censor. That has always been the right's forte.

This being a victim of political correctness act is getting old.

Everything "authoritarian" is Left of Center (American terms).

It's just a matter of how much.

the left and right once again vary from country to country. One mans left is another mans centrist. It varies so in truth there are many sides.

Absolutely! We are watching the trailer for what will be "playing" in America soon.
