It is stupid. These training exercises happen all the time. There was an even BIGGER training operation that occurred in the EXACT same spots in the early 2000's, but we didn't hear a PEEP about it in the media. Probably because we had a Republican in office when it happened.

Why is it that you guys question this account? There are FORMER military in this very thread telling you how this crap works and you are just blowing it off to talk about some silly idea about encroaching martial law.

It is not some silly idea. I am taken aback by vehement reaction from you and a couple others on a website that is often concerned with law enforcement, non transparency of the government, etc. I get words like 'silly' and 'stupid'.
I don't understand why the political affiliation of the President matters here. Most websites focusing on this are right wing. The MSM has spent very little time on this. They have paid attention today due to the media ban and rightly so.

EXACTLY! That is a HUGE tip-off to the silliness of this conspiracy. The right wing media gets its ratings and viewership from overexaggerating non-existent threats.

You don't say? Thanks for that classified info Captain Obvious. Not for every issue all the time. I have been following and researching this for a long time and really, really want to stay with the original topic.

Well then what makes this a credible threat then? Whenever -I- see the right wing media exclusively reporting on an "issue" I automatically chalk it up to hyperbole. You have to prove otherwise to me before I will believe otherwise. The right wing media cries "wolf" WAY too often to take anything originating from them seriously.

It is not the right wing media that exclusively reported on the press ban.

The press ban is irrelevant since it is SOP for military training exercises anyways.

It seems explaining SOP to civilians is an exercise in futility. They ask questions and do not even consider the answers that are given.

Pretty soon they will be asking for SF facebook pages and if the answer was they do not have a Facebook page they would fabricate a nefarious reason.

Jad e Helm- No Press

After all of the questions and conspiracy theories, one would think the organizers of Jade Helm would allow imbeded reporters. Nope.

"The Washington Post has several times requested access to observe the exercise, making the case to the military that first-hand media coverage would help explain the mission. Lastoria said it is not possible to allow a journalist to travel with Special Operations forces in the field, citing the isolated nature of the mission and the need to protect the identity of the forces involved." Special Forces and Special Operations overseas have often had imbedded journalists. This has been deemed 'too sensitive' though.

So...they want us to trust them...don't know about anyone else here, but I don't think they'd done much, if anything over the past 20 years to earn any trust....at least from me.

Holy stupid ideas Batman!!!! It is a freaking Escape and Evasion exercise. The entire point is the get from point a to point be without being caught. If the military did not make these things public you would never know this ever went on. It is kind of hard to do this with the press following.

And you have to feel sorry for the Texas State Guard they are caught between a rock and hard place. They are massively embarrassed to be tossed into this and think this will destroy their organization because nobody will want to join but, nutters. And to make matters worse they are not even doing anything. Not being activated or deployed at all. They will have liaison officer who will keep the Governor updated. And yet they feel their name is being drug through the mud.

You know maybe, just maybe if the Government had some nefarious plan they would not tell the public about in advance. No that would be crazy.

I was under the impression that military equipment was going to be used in some capacity, and not limited to Federal Reservations.

Special Forces and Special Operations "often" have embedded reporters overseas?

I'm running the BS flag all the way to the top on that one. That's complete crap. And when they DO have a reporter embedded with them, they're typically not allowed to broadcast anything "as it happens." Everything they send out is looked at to make sure names are redacted or changed and faces aren't shown, whenever warranted.

Beyond that, it's training. Since when do reporters embed for training?

Dammit that's right, this is martial law prep and that's why they don't want reporters in the units. Because keeping reporters from embedding will totally stop people from finding out what's happening in Texas.

So, a bunch of journos tagging along getting in the way would cause LESS attention? The TSG are IN ON IT, not protecting you from it. Geez, guys, get a grip.

The Texas State Guard is NOT in on it. They are observing to make sure the military does not do anything they are not supposed to. That is why they have been deployed.

Because the local populace is "up in arms" due to the belief that it is something "bad" . The idea "stirred up" by some .The more you stir stuff (you know what stuff is) the more it stinks....peace.

And the Governor is a little bit 'up in arms'.

The governor is "up in arms" because people raised a stink about it.

“Frankly, I gotta tell you, I think the cause of the underlying concerns is that we see instances, like a shooting in Fort Hood by a terrorist, that the president labels workplace violence. We see the president come to the border in Texas and say it’s safer than it’s ever been,” said Abbott. “And so I think it was a misplaced perception by people in Texas who have problems with the Obama administration and connected that trust with the Obama administration to the military.”

Abbott says his goal is to break down that barrier and help Texans understand the military is there to protect and that the training exercises are ways that will help get them better prepared. He added that “us communicating with the people, we can erode or allay those concerns.”

Holy blanket statements batman! You know the entirety if the Texas State Guard is embarassed?Texas Guard "the Texas State Guard has not announced any specifics on how they will staff or monitor the training exercise." Where is this single liason officer? Who are they? Not deployed at all? DEPLOYED.

I honestly can't wait for Jade Helm to start. And then for it to end. And come back here and laugh when surprise surprise, you're not all in FEMA camps or dead.

Sometimes secrets are kept as to not endanger those in training, understood...
Which makes sense for not allowing the press to immediately cover & observe certain training exercises that may be used to provide Services To Others...

Yes, he is going to cause the citizens to understand that the US Military is there to help by deploying the Texas State Guard to monitor. I think the Governor wanted to make his stance clear on respecting the military, they are a voting demographic. He has to say something after he deploys his guard troops to monitor them.

Since they are practicing urban combat against American citizens, any footage would "reveal too much".

Not true. They're practicing against each other and LEO's, primarily, using the infrastructure as a big LARP environment, if you want to look at it that way.

guess we'll just have to take their word for it.

Not sure, it says they have been deployed. Maybe they have been given orders? Are getting ready?

Speaking of, did anything come of Putin supposedly ordering a huge fleet to gulf of Mexico to "protect and watch over" Texans during the drills? I'd only read a blurb about it somewhere. And it made me smile.

You sure you didn't read that on RT or WND? That sounds like some idiocy that would come from either of those two rags.
