And somehow, it was not an issue until last week. Funny that.

The whole idea of having a loud minority dictate the way the majority functions based on a knee jerk reaction is idiotic. If the people of a state wish to display a symbol of their heritage, it's their right.
1. What minority? Whites and blacks want the thing to come down.
2. No one has "dictated" a damn thing.
3. The people of the state have every right to continue to fly the flag.
Deny ignorance on this subject!
This irritates me way more than it should.
You got that right!
The minority is the liberal media. The small group that thinks it's PC version of life is what WE ALL need to see. As I said, that small group won't get this. It's not in their wheelhouse. Perhaps you could make some signs.

.........You're talking about the man who designed the SECOND version of the flag. All of this discussion is around the THIRD version of the southern cross. Heck, I'm in Canada and I know about this stuff. I guess some people have a true passion for knowledge and others are more satisfied with reading the first article they see and accepting it as truth without doing as much as clicking the linked source to verify. But hey, to each man his own. There is ONE truth but everyone has the right to believe what they want.
After the war ended, Thompson, a racist supporter of the Democrats, opposed the Republican Party's efforts in southern U.S. states as well as opposing the granting of civil rights and freedoms to African Americans and former slaves

Actually it was an issue last year...
In South Carolina of all places.
Although, the one defending its presence on a government building appears to be the same woman who now wants it removed...
& she is not a Liberal as far as I know.
The world is topsy turvy.

I think my biggest point is that you don't see the problem. that in itself it the driving reason this is even an issue.

THE MAJORITY uses it for completely different purposes.

And to think, all they needed to do is shoot up a church. Well, I guess that will be the way to get things done in the future.
Lesson learned. (still don't' see the point huh?)
The “Southern Cross” spent 100 years in obscurity, then sprang to prominence in the 1950s. It was part of a movement scholars say had nothing to do with heritage and was instead an act of defiance to federal civil rights efforts.
