Well yeah, but media needs to quit their BS too. That may not be the one and only problem, but its a pretty big root.

I pointed out that he seemed to have plenty to say when a black church gets shot up by a white guy.

He didn't seem to have diddly to say when a white guy tried to turn downtown Dallas into Tombstone.

But you don't see that he's dividing more than he's uniting?

And yes, I understand that one was an attack on civilians and resulted in fatalities, while the other was on law enforcement and only had one fatality. Both were pretty over the top events, however. I'm not really sure why a one man war against cops doesn't get a peep, but a one man war against a black church gets a statement within a few hours.

A cops job is to put themselves in the line of fire, its a very dangerous and respectful job, with that said, if a cop dies it is not as newsworthy as a hate crime where 9 people are murdered.

Cool. So it's the non-sworn personnel manning an information desk's job to put her life on the line too? Being that she's a civilian, no body armor, no weapon, and her duty is to answer phones and such.

Just what she gets for working for the police, eh?

ETA - not to mention all the people who were pretty obviously within a block of the shootout near headquarters. No big deal there, either. If they don't want to run the risk of being within feet of a shootout, they shouldn't live or hangout near police stations I guess.

Sorry, you are reading way into this, my response was pretty clear cut, you are throwing in all sorts of examples, I don't debate like that

if I die, I wouldn't want it all over the news anyway, who says cops WANT to be on the news. Who says those deaths who are on the news had any better lives than those who weren't???

Why is this an issue?

Seriously already blaming obama, why do we as adults need to always blame someone else and then put our heads in the sand. Youd think a crime like this would bring people together for healing.

It is true that hate crimes are mostly considered a white on black thing. The fact of the matter is even with that bias, black people still commit more hate crimes based on percentage of the population than whites do.

In 2013:

53.4% were white
24.3% were black

2013 FBI Hate crime stats

Blacks only make up 13% of the population in the US, Whites are around 78% of the population.

Nope. The only example I've used at any point has been the Dallas shooting. Every single thing I've said has been from that one specific event. Your logic is that it's a cops job, so nobody cares. I pointed out that cops weren't the only ones being shot at. Cops weren't the only ones involved.

None of which changes that Obama didn't have diddly to say about any of it, but jumped all over a shooting at a black church.

Nope, not divisive at all

Thanks for showing your true colours, instead of showing compassion you needed to tell us how you really feel.

How is that showing my true colors? I do feel very bad for the victims families. I HATE violence whether it's between humans, cats, dogs, whales, snakes etc...I don't like it at all.

Me pointing out basic statistics has nothing to do with how I feel about this event.

Jon Stewart will be sorely missed!

So...we're just supposed to ignore the racial motivation for the crime, and simply say, "Well, he was just crazy...and that's what happens when you mix crazy with guns"...

If the shooter is black, he's a "thug".
If he's Arab, he's a "terrorist".
If he's Latino, he's an "illegal".
If he's white, he's got a mental illness...

I hate to break it to you, but everyone is racist. If you say you aren't racist, you are either truly ignorant, or such a closet racist that you fight those feelings by pushing back in the opposite direction.

The sooner we admit that everyone is racist due to tribalism via genetics, the sooner we can fix the problems we have.

That's just a justification for racists to feel a little less slimy about themselves.

They should look at his mental health. Otherwise it's just going to eventually turn into a gun control thing. But if they do start looking at mental health, how far will they go? Like control, there're limits.

I'm told he had already committed a felony so could not legally own a gun. Yet his father gifted him a gun for his birthday which is a felony. How can gun control solve this problem? It seems to me gun control was already ocurring. Unless htey go door to door and get all the unlisted guns and have drones on every block looking for guns, WTH are they going to do to stop people from getting guns?

There's somethign messed up about society will all these shootings. I don't have much doubt about that. I'm just wondeing how far they'll go with gun control and/or mental health to stop the shootings.

Disgusted with the shootings. Disgusted to be human right now.

Show Obama compassion for...what? What does he need compassion for? You lost me there.

I don't blame Obama for race problems. I don't blame him for black on black crime, black on white, white on black, white on white, purple on green, blue on mango tango (yes that's a real crayon color).

I blame him for exacerbating things instead of helping things.

Well as a bi-racial man with a white dad and a black mom, I disagree with you. My parents are racist, and they love each other more than any other 2 people I have ever known. Being racist doesn't mean you are a bad person, or say/do bad things because of it. It also doesn't mean you can't be friends with other races, or marry them. Tribalism is something that was built into our DNA a LONG time ago as a survival trait.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion though.
