Well, I can't pick just one band, so I gotta name a few from the top of my head that I listen to on a regular basis.

Blink 182, I know I know, childish, poppy blah blah, but as a teen I loved this band, always perc my mood up when I'm pissed off, just can't let them go!

Others

Metric
slipknott
deftones
sea wolf
Raveonettes
Queers
dead kennedies
clash
arctic monkeys
cure

Nothing wrong with liking music that lifts your spirits, regardless of what anyone else may think of said music.

Trevor Dunn might be the most versatile bass player ever. Mingus is hands down my favorite jazz bassist but Trevor can play and does play in some Bungle songs, nearly every style out there.

Some excellent picks indeed! I just got my tickets for the NY stop of Opeth's 25th Anniversary. 2 sets including Ghost Reveries in its entirety and they're playing a ton of old stuff they don't play much anymore so I'm like a giddy school girl for it haha.

Nice..their special occasion shows like this are great. In general they just know how to deliver live. Let me know how it goes please!

Oh Absolutely. I can't bring my whole studio with me unfortunately but I do have a small stereo recorder that actually works really well and I should be able to do some mastering to get it to sound better so theoretically, I should be able to get audio of both sets. Its not much bigger than my cell phone so getting in with it shouldn't be an issue. Keep your fingers crossed and I might just have something for you to listen to afterwards. When I saw they were only doing 2 shows in the US for this there was no way I was going to miss out on it!

Pink Floyd, because my wife hates them.

Pink Floyd's Animals album is my panacea. Most of their early stuff was too weird
to be anything but interseting, but if I had to choose it'd be Pink Floyd.

Foo Fighters is an also ran, mostly for the wicked cool drums in every song...
but that's to be expected when the songwriter is a world class drummer as well.

Rage Against the Machine
Tool
Alice n Chains...most grunge stuff

Weird Mr. Bungle on a few people's lists but not Faith No More...WHAT IS IT!
