For about 4 years (2001-2008) I was a premed advisor at a prestigous school.
What I learned and told my students was the truth about getting into medical school.
Asians had to have the highest MCAT scores and GPA (4.0-3.9) to get in
Whites had to have the second highest MCAT and GPA (3.7 or higher)
Hispanics the third highest GPA (3.2 or higher)
Blacks could get in with a GPA (3.0 and even in one case 2.7)
This is nothing new.
Discrimination against Asians is real.

Simple,
Success is "penalized" in America.
There is no such thing as equality, especially when we have the Democratic Party obsessed with race.
Regardless of your character or achievement, you must be penalized due to your skin color or ethnic background.
This is their idea of Equality.... Not Equal Opportunity, Equal Results and those results will be driven by bringing everyone down to the least common denominator.
"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. - Martin Luther King Jr.
As another poster pointed out, it is blatant Racism but when originated from the left, it isn't Racism, it is just "fairness".

It doesn't give them 'bonus' points
That is what is being said in the article, like literally adding points.
That is not the case.
I don't think you are a raciest, I think you hold some strong views. That is all I said.

You quote the guy that fought for the equal rights during the time of our society that is the very reason we needed, might even still need, AA.
That makes so much sense...
Guess we just expected people to drop their believes that they held for decades right?

I quoted that the Civil Rights push was for equal rights, not to judged by the color of someones skin but by their individual character.
What the left is doing is exactly the opposite. How about addressing the rest.
Do you agree with blatant racism and a "different finish line" for people based off of their skin color or ethnicity? (sounds pretty much against equal opportunity and quite racist if you do)
Do you agree that setting higher standards for someone to get admittance based off their skin color or ethnicity is truly the definition of racism? (Yes)
Cmon, have the conversation. You know it is but will try anything not to admit it.

No it is that it could be correlated to that but that they don't actually get a bonus.
Can you read that it clearly says that people not accepted based on SAT score alone?
Also in your example you don't say if any of them are athlete or legacy, both of which would get said 'bonus'.
Context.

I believe that it was and could still be needed to combat the very real institutionalized racism that our country sponsored for decades.
What I will agree with is that it is not benefiting the Asain american community apparently but yet that has somehow turned into an issue with african americans.
And no I do not think AA is racist at all.

The thread is about being penalized for being "classified" as asian and how unjust and blatantly racist it is to have different standards for people based on their skin color or ethnicity.
Mr. King fought against that. I find it strange that anyone would truly support blatant discrimination of achievement due to someone's skin color or ethnicity in the 21st Century.
Both bonuses you now admit to, are smaller than the being black bonus you keep denying.

I did notice that.
When tough questions are asked, that pretty much ends the thread or the topic is changed to avoid answering.
