African Americans received a “bonus” of 230 points, Lee says.
Asian Americans would lose out under affirmative action
She points to the second column.
“Hispanics received a bonus of 185 points.”
The last column draws gasps.
Asian Americans, Lee says, are penalized by 50 points — in other words, they had to do that much better to win admission.
“Do Asians need higher test scores? Is it harder for Asians to get into college? The answer is yes,” Lee says.
The complaint, filed by a coalition of 64 organizations, says the university has set quotas to keep the numbers of Asian-American students significantly lower than the quality of their applications merits. It cites third-party academic research on the SAT exam showing that Asian-Americans have to score on average about 140 points higher than white students, 270 points higher than Hispanic students and 450 points higher than African-American students to equal their chances of gaining admission to Harvard. The exam is scored on a 2400-point scale.
Why isn't everyone scored equally?
Using the estimated logistic regression coefficients, it is possible to convert the magnitude of these preferences to a common SAT metric. The bonus for African-American applicants is roughly equivalent to an extra 230 SAT points (on a 1600-point scale), to 185 points for Hispanics, 200 points for athletes, and 160 points for children of alumni. The Asian disadvantage is comparable to a loss of 50 SAT points

It's as if they are admitting that Asians are smarter than average. This is shameful, it's not so much that Asians are smarter, it is just that their work and study ethics are usually head and shoulders above us. I say level the playing field make everyone equal and let people advance on their merit. What are we afraid of ...... are we too lazy to work as hard as Asians?

Does anyone else think this discrimination against Asian Americans is unfair and ridiculous?

This is also a 10 year old study...
But I bet that doesn't matter right?

Try reading the actual study, it goes on to say that admission is never solely based on SAT scores alone and many other things go into it.
This and other articles are taking it extremely out of context.
Also goes on to say that AA gives just the slightest edge over athlete/legacy.
And this isn't even about blacks...Sounds like you have some deep held views here.

All I said was to read the actual report and see what they find instead of taking these reports that take it out of context as fact.
And that this has nothing to do with blacks so not sure why the rant about them.
Go ahead and 'pwn' my first comment about how no one is getting any actual bonus points and that the test are not scored differently.
Would love to see that.
