This is just a good, old fashioned rant about a personal pet peeve that I run into on the board fairly often.
Marsha:

Marshal:

Martial:

1: of, relating to, or suited for war or a warrior
2: relating to an army or to military life
3: experienced in or inclined to war

www.merriam-webster.com...

MARTIAL LAW:

MARTIAL Law is the suspension of civil law, civil liberties, and civil rights and replacing those with military law over the citizenry.

Martial law is a bad thing, MarSHAL law would mean the marshals have arrived on the scene and are directing the enforcement of civil law and (presumably) protecting the civil rights of all involved... it isn't really a "thing," but if there was such a thing as "MarSHAL law", it would probably be a fairly good thing (unless YOU were the reason the U.S. Marshals were called out... in which case, you've done a bad thing and can expect troubles ahead. Those guys don't mess around.)

It is a bit irritating to see people completely miss-understanding a (rightfully) feared concept so frequently, yet fearing it all the same.

So my typos are your pet peeve? I can't decide if I should try to do better or try to put more in ...

And then there's "marital" divorce laws that become martial.

Personally I would rather have Marsha Law.

It would be very complicated if Marsha watched the army marshal their forces for martial law. ( joke)

Another grammar Nazi here---raised by one and became one myself. I'm constantly amazed that people can complete high school and college yet never learn to use the language properly. You've hit on one of my pet peeves. The other is the use of "then" for "than."
Thanks, I feel better now too.

I frequently see this all over the interwebs and tbh I see it in discussion posts and assignments in college as well. It's sad how grown adults who've usually made it through high school and even college in some cases can't seem to spell or use proper grammar even slightly. I also see it a lot with common phrases as well. It's almost like everyone sounds like Ricky from Trailer Park Boys.

It's actually spelled Marcia Brady.

Just saying!

But some people spell the name Martia so you're still good.

Would it still bother you if there was a thread about a person named Marsha Law?
Oh, how about if Marsha Law was a marshal that's helping to impose martial law?
I'll shut up now. Please don't throw anything at me.

While I do understand how the OP can find poor grammar disconcerting; I will never understand how this thread received so many flags. I am flaggergasted!
