Come on now buddy you're one of ATS's biggest advocates of personal responsibility...

They have to own it...
We need to kick them out.

And I am taking responsibility. I am taking ownership of the political mess. I was apathetic. I could have done more. I'm smart, well educated, articulate. I should have done something more. Perhaps spoken up. Maybe volunteer to work on a campaign.

Politicians are stupid. But they rely on people dumber than them in order to succeed.

I think what he meant was that the US is the big Satan while the Russians and Chinese are smaller Satans

The problem is that you guys are a little lazy. Vote in the primaries and send the usual douches OUT. Then you can vote for something.

Much of the time, there's nothing to vote for in the primaries, either.

America desperately NEEDS campaign finance reform and iron fisted campaign finance regulation. How many corporate, union, or billionaire donors you attract shouldn't be the deciding factor on whether or not America gets to hear your message.

To add: The only way to properly enact campaign finance reform is on the spending side. Cap the amount allowed to be spent on FCC controled media airwaves, give everyone equal time on TV and radio, and enact a voter education law which forces a voter to actually learn about the candidates before casting a vote. That's not discriminatory, it's a responsibility.

I would debate that. They rely on people MUCH smarter than them. Their agenda. Then money. Then......

You are SO wrong. Oh wait, no you aren't

I just thought that if we agreed that quickly one or the other may have an allergic reaction.

The members here have voted - The US is the biggest threat to humanity.
Most of the world thinks it and ATS thinks it.

On a side not - charliespiers you have posted some crap on this thread.
China and Russia never treated their people like #?? The great Satan?? WTF?
Unbelievable the stuff you posted.

And I in turn, think your opinion is crap.

Great

I've never been Skeptic Overlord wrong...

It also wouldn't hurt to throw term limits into Congress, either. Is there really any reason for John Conyers to have spent the last 50 years as a congressman? Have his ideas been that cutting edge for the past 5 decades? Have the panels he has sat on and the committees he has chaired been that ridiculously successful that there is no reason to believe fresh ideas and fresh approaches from a new representative wouldn't bear fruit?

(Not singling Conyers out politically here, either. He's simply the longest serving member of Congress.)

Interesting how US politics is being discussed when the problem is actually US foreign policy which is largely formulated and implemented by people you dont get to vote for,the US military industrial complex now trains, arms and sponsors organisations to become its future enemies to perpetuate the machine and is currently sponsoring every protaganist in the middle eastern stink to keep the blood and oil flowing,it has gone insane.

Tell your government to stop invading countries, that way you don't need to send "help" taxpayer, Afghanistan and Iraq are principal recipients of your aid, followed by Israel and Pakistan, so your aid is aimed to reconstruction of countries destroyed by you/military targets

Oh and such a giving nation you are, always #1...

I wonder if being the most giving nation is also related to being the most happiest.
There could be something to learn here. Maybe there is a direct relationship between "Giving" and "Being Happy" whereas nations which are not so giving by nature and are at a constant state of war, are not so happy.
Just a thought.
Happiest Nations of the World

I don't get it. Why would someone want to be in the spotlight 24/7? If not now, maybe later? Politician. It should be right up there with toilet cleaner but for some reason(cash) they want this calling. Anyone that wants it should be excluded. They're demented.

Hire Keith from a bank and tell him he's going to be in this until he figures it out. Done in 2 years. No sane person would want to subjugate themselves to that type of degradation.

The fascist that rule over most of our planet are more than happy to see their sacrificial lamb (the US) taking the roasting. When they show themselves as our saviour to save us from the big bad wolf there will be dancing in the streets. That's if our new lords grant us a permit to dance.

When considering all geopolitical, humanitarian, and conflict factors: Which country below WHAT represents the single-most significant threat to humanity

Bankster bloodlines and the military-industrial complex.

The US government and her military is the stick (as in "the carrot and the stick") - nothing more and nothing less and when these pricks have finished raping the planet using the US's resources they will discard her like a cheap whore.

So, remove the "99%" from the equation and ask yourself the poll question again.

No "country" is a threat. the people (if you can call them that) at the helm are the threat.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Ever think its the price they have to pay for dealing with us? On a world stage we aren't the avenging angels we try to pull off here at home. Other countries find we are an aggressive bullying country that loves war. Our history has done nothing to disprove this. If you had a relative that kept handing you money to help you,but then went and told you how to run your finances, your marriage, your kids, clean your house etc. you would get really sick of them and their help. It would end up in a huge fight. I'm not talking here about whether you would or not,I'm saying if you did. You would become resentful and angry at them for telling you how to do everything, and what you were allowed to do or not. We are not all bad,but there is too much meddling in other countries affairs that is causing huge resentment for us. This is what Russia has been trying to tell us and the world, that the US needs to mind their own business and let other countries conduct their own business.

We need to listen to other countries and get out of their business. It is our taxpayer money going over to other countries as we speak. Why should we bail out Ukraine? Think about it,Ukraine got in the mess its in because of greedy Oligarchs. This was not a "hey our crops failed and we can't feed people". This is a free for all grab of money that has been going on for years, and is STILL going on. Guess what? If I can't balance my check book, who bails me or you out? So why should we be throwing money at Ukraine? We shouldn't. Let the Oligarchs do it. They have been stealing from the people all these years. Its time for them to eat it now. The money we are sending isn't going to help their people, while the people found out there was no emergency food put away to feed them, their so called leader was out spending someone elses money on weapons. If you can't feed an army, they won't fight. This is but one example. We need to stop sending money to other countries. Let them learn to live within their means. If they can't feed their people, they shouldn't be buying weapons. Spend the money first on feeding the masses before trying to buy anything else.

I'm curious how "my" country voted in this poll [Belgium]. If you could give some figures, that would be appreciated!

Although like others have said, it's not a specific country that's the biggest threat. More like the banks & big corps.

Anyways, I did vote for China noonetheless. It's just a gut feeling I've had for a long time.

China's a sleeping dragon that's slowly awakening.

I personally voted for Israel based on their treatment of the Palestinian people. As an American, I can admit that militarily, we are pretty scary. However, we don't subjugate and treat our neighbors like they belong in concentration camps.

I would say the fact that Pakistan, in it's very unstable, volatile, Jihadist haven is one coup away from putting nuclear weapons/materials directly in the hands of the Jihadis makes it the most dangerous.

YMMV.

but I suspect a poll entitled "Which country represents the most likely nation to save humanity" the USA would win that one, too.

I doubt it!......unless your totally buying into the whole Hollywood " Avengers" scenario!

I think too many people are assuming the very specific population of ATS represents the general population of these countries as a whole.
