Why does it say "youth mob" on the news's video?

Looks like a bunch of blacks to me.

Because the mentally deranged rejects in the mass media only mention race when it's a White cop shooting an African American. ~$heopleNation

Just a second here....c'mon now, what's different about this? They're going after a Black dude. Why him? I'm inclined to believe there was some prior incident that set this off. Not making excuses because this is inexcusable but this is a far cry from your random group beat down we've been seeing lately.

Things have changed over the last 10 years or so. Even when NWA first came out in the mid-eighties this type of random violence was not that common. Even 10 years it wasn't. Somehow violence particularly against non-members of this segment of society has been quietly condoned and excused to the point where it's becoming a pandemic. I can't help but think social engineering is at work here through the media, music and entertainment twisting the minds of young people to express themselves in a such a base manner. Somebody needs to remind them just how far removed their behavior is from the ideals expressed during the civil rights era and how they are throwing away a legacy of justice and equity that so many suffered for them to have.

The actual violent crime rates have actually declined drastically since the 90's and the homicide rate is the lowest it has been since the early 60's. In fact the homicide rate is about 50% less then it was in the early 90's.

From: www.bjs.gov...

Highlights: The U.S. homicide rate declined by nearly half (49%), from 9.3 homicides per 100,000 U.S. residents in 1992 to 4.7 in 2011, falling to the lowest level since 1963. From 2002 to 2011, the average homicide rate for males was 3.6 times higher than the rate for females. The average homicide rate for blacks was 6.3 times higher than the rate for whites. From 2002 to 2011, young adults ages 18 to 24 had the highest homicide rate of any age group and experienced the greatest rate decline (down 22%) over the 10-year period, from 15.2 per 100,000 in 2002 to 11.9 in 2011. The rate of homicides involving a firearm decreased by 49% from 1992 to 2011, while the percentage of homicide victims killed by a firearm (67%) remained stable. Large cities of 100,000 or more residents experienced the largest decline (23%) in homicide rates from 2002 to 2011, compared to communities with less than 100,000 residents. From 2002 to 2011, the majority (95%) of homicide incidents involved a single victim. In 2011, 66% of homicides with a single victim involved a firearm, compared to 79% of homicide incidents with multiple victims.

From: www.bjs.gov...

Other findings from the report include the following: In 2010, the 17 percent of violent crime victims who experienced repeat victimization accounted for 54 percent of all violent victimizations. For serious violent crimes, the victimization rate decreased 77 percent from 1993 to 2010, while the prevalence rate decreased 66 percent. The decline in total household property crime victimization rates (down 64 percent) from 1993 to 2010 was greater than the decline in prevalence rates (down 48 percent). The proportion of household property crime victims who reported two or more incidents during each year decreased from 25 percent in 1993 to 18 percent in 2010. In 2010, the 18 percent of repeat household victims accounted for about 41 percent of all household property victimizations.

I believe this is more an issue of perception. Information is exponentially more available to the average person since the 90's and as a result it appears that crime is more rampant.

In reality crime was much worse back then, but most people got their information from a few stories on the local news and local newspapers. People did not have camera phones or the vehicle to tell a story to a world wide audience.

There are very serious issues facing the average person today, but the increased risks do not come from their peers. The powers the average person needs to be wary of, use this information availability to their advantage. By influencing what information really gets spread, they get us to fear one another when in reality the threat from our peers has declined drastically over the years. This allows them to get whatever agenda they have in mind completed before our eyes because of this misplaced fear.

Those statistics do not address crime rates by racial breakdown nor by the number of perpetrators. Mob violence is more prevalent than a few years ago of that I have little doubt. Youtube has simply replaced what the local news used to do; actually report crimes and give information as to the races and ages of those involved whereas now news is most likely to use words like "youths" or "teens" and completely disregard the fact all involved were of any particular race.

Using those same statistics can you tell me if white on black or if black on white crimes have dropped? You can't because they aren't broken down by race and therefore do not tell a complete picture of what we're discussing here. Besides, government is very fond of diddling with statistics in order to give whatever current group is in power a veneer of success.

Like another poster said here, this is a subculture. A subculture of violence and death who use beatings and intimidation as a show of force to gain power and respect on the street.

indeed, this is actually how xtianity, eventually wound up Romes state religion.
mob violence and terrorism, nowadays it's done stealthily, so as to claim innocence when the backlash occurs.

and of course, it's only evil when the...
DARKER SIDE does it...

these violent flash mobs remind me of the viking invasions
those were a backlash against xtian persecution of pagans.

history does not repeat itself, but sometimes it rhymes...

One of the kids looked like he tried to help (the guy in the bright colors- middle) but it's hard to say without more context and anyone who attacks someone else, most especially cowards in a group, deserve consequences.

I wonder if the few videoing were doing it to ID the criminals, or to post later and gloat?

The problem with the victim defending himself with his gun is it was a crowd and someone interjecting to help might be harmed, too, but I wouldn't blame him if he had. He showed admirable restraint.

And there is no equivalence with police brutality... police are entrusted with guarding society and when they act outside of the law, their penalties should be harsher due to their position of trust and authority.

But any violent crime should be dealt with harshly... disgusting human behavior, but not an excuse to "crack down" on everyone and give police free reign to do the same.

I would think that if the victim had shot a few of these punks, then the next time this thug gang got together, they would be armed and ready to shoot back at almost anyone indiscriminately. Actually, I'm surprised that this riffraff didn't pull a gun right off the bat.

Like another poster said here, this is a subculture. A subculture of violence and death who use beatings and intimidation as a show of force to gain power and respect on the street. Junior bad asses trying to climb the ladder of gangsta success and make a name for themselves. Unfortunately, prison and jail time only enforce this attitude and give the real gangs and Islamic extremists new recruits.

No, defending yourself never provokes increased harassment.

It was presumably for the safety of his baby that he restrained himself, you can't effectively fight while holding a child and he had the right instincts if he thought he would not be immediately murdered.

What kind of chicken # scum holds the door closed when they can see a father and child being beaten directly in front of them?

Another case of the homies... Little # stains can't do anything other than puff their chests. But if they're in vast numbers and your back's turned... Look out... They get pretty tough pretty fast...

The funniest thing is when a group of them starts mouthing off and you tell them to line up so you can take them one at a time. Never gonna happen.

That sort of behavior doesn't surprise me at all. "kids" aren't the same "kids" they were 20-30 years ago. Anyone who would claim otherwise are blind or simply just don't have the sense to know/see it. Maybe it's both.

There are allot of grown ups without parenting skills, and an amoral cultural that values freedom over personal responsibility. American society is dissolving at the seams. I would predict that recent events will continue to devolve into outright war between the ethnic communities. Its a more likely scenario for martial law under the Patriot Act.

"Teenagers", high school kids", etc, isn't a complete description. The guy was targeted,, I suspect, because he got in their way, between the and their intended target. As for him, glad he was there, and willing to step in. He is a far better role model than any of these kids have at home, clearly!! All in all, I wish he had shot several of them. Dead works. He had every right. In his place, I'd have shot. Then, where I live, you can legal;y shoot to defend others as well as yourself. Your "neighbor", you can defend with lethal force. With a baby there, I'd have shot. Not enough rounds for all of them in most guns, but they'd scatter after a couple went off. In the place of the woman, the car is a weapon, too. A crowd like that, attacking and acting all violent? Run them over! If enough people started fighting back, this crap would slow down. It always does.

Where is Paul Kersey when we need him?

Here is a funny experience I had with "Latin homies" in NYC.

We used to have a little mini-mart in what used to be a VERY hot spot for drugs. It still kind of is and was when this happened but the crack wars ended....so you had roaming idiots who grew up with their brothers or fathers in prison from the drug wars that happened. They were out to prove themselves like their role models, though lacking the battle ground to do so, they just fought and picked on people mostly.

So for about a month, a group of like 6-8 guys about 18-24 year olds would run up to our little mini-mart and take the fruit we had outside and throw them trying to break our windows. Melons, oranges, what ever was handy.

I would always run out and try to catch them. They always ran and I would chase them for a couple blocks. I got good at nearly catching them. Either people would steal or would mess with stores like ours so you had to be fairly fast to deter them. Running after people became a part of my childhood and young adult life. LOL I would always be stuck outside watching that people didnt steal.

Anyways, one night they didnt run. They felt secure in that around 12 of them ran up to try to break our windows with our fruit and being such a large group there was little I could do about it.

I ran out like always with a solid metal broom I kept around for events like this.

They surrounded me and laughed as they threatened to beat my ass..LOL. I wont lie, I was REALLY scared. I got ahold of myself and just went at them. I swung at the biggest one I determined to be the little jerks leader. He ducked away but was REALLY surprised I was ready to throw down. Then I just said aloud that they were a bunch of cowards. That 12 of them needed to feel like men but none of them were willing to throw down one on one like real men.

They all just stood there like idiots looking at eachother. I counted them out. 1,2, 3 etcetera...pointing at them one by one and told them if they were so tough ONE of them would step up.

They all started to walk away...I dont even know why....and to my surprise an old school dealer I knew from the area was walking by with a friend and saw the whole thing. I dont know if thought they were armed and trying to hold up the store or what....He didnt realize they were walking away, and so he pulled out a gun. Let me tell you, THEY RAN LIKE HELL! He told me that my dad helped him out once in the old days and that he was there if I ever needed him.

I thanked my would be savior and went back inside. Those little jerks never threw our fruit at our windows ever again.

Moral of the story, I dont know. I could have gotten a bad beat down. I didnt and in the end would have gotten help from the most unlikely of sources.

All it takes is for the ring leader to show weakness and the whole sense of power leaves their little minds...minds which are actually governed by fear.

Have a good one.
Hold it down.

The man has good self control, and those children are very lucky. The saddest thing, is that the man probably was justified in using his weapon to protect himself and his child. And if he did, the families of those children shot would have blamed him and made every excuse as to why he was wrong, instead of accepting that their darling children were comitting a crime.

You're right on the money there, then they would have demonized the weapon as the problem.

Parents have stopped parenting as they need to, some from just plain ignorance, others from not wanting to be accused of child abuse (spanking), others from just plain not caring and too tied up in their own lives to matter much to their kids.

Now, not saying good parenting will fix all cases of 'kids gone wild', but it sure as hell would cut down on this sort of thing.

Makes my blood boil.....
