I like women and no one has ever made me feel bad about It. I think your talking out yer arse mate. Or just displaying your insecuries. You don't have to be scared of the lgbt community. They won't bite....unless you ask them to

I'm sorry but you are quite wrong. I have literally been attacked for being a straight white male. Called cis**** and all sorts of stupid names just for having an opinion on an issue that was completely unrelated to lgbt. I understand this doesn't represent the community as a whole, but like I said I am tired of hearing trans this and cis that.

Not to mention you just personally tried to discredit my opinion and experience. Telling me I am talking out of my ass and insecure. Seriously bro, get over it. You think I would make something up just to have an excuse to post in this thread? I must be lying because my experience is different than yours?

If you are "different", some people won't like you and will treat you differently. Grow a pair and deal with it. You have every right and protection every other person has. You know it...you just want more.

Again, if you get married, governments recognize it. I can't.
Your partner can get benefits. Mine can't.

There's no wanting "more"..that's just an excuse. It is a legitimate request for true equality. So, please, forget growing a pair, try growing a soul, with compassion and understanding.

lol have your marriage. Since its happening in America you are very likely to just end in divorce. The culture in this #ry no longer takes what marriage used to mean seriously, and therefore you have people who end up in four or five marriages, gay or straight. Enjoy the hole in your pocket. I have four kids with my "wife" of ten years and we are not even married. We both agreed it would just destroy the relationship since it is not part of our generation in this culture. it just does not work.

Once people get married, one or the other will suddenly feel entitled to impose themselves more upon the other citing "marriage" as a rationale and just destroy the relationship.

Assuming an end without necessarily a cause. Just because many marriages end in divorce doesn't necessarily mean all will.

The entire concept of "gender preference" is a false one, based on nothing more than supposed perception, with the twisted idea that people can somehow be a "gender" they are not, instead of admitting that we are born one sex or another; male or female. We don't get to decide that the genetics are somehow wrong. That's a sign of a mental disorder.

You have no idea what this is about - do you? :-)

Yes, I do. Do you?

Of course it' about the sex. Homosexuality is, by definition, having sex with someone of the same sex. Claiming it's something else, to push an agenda, doesn't change the reality.

If this was about sex - we wouldn't even be having this conversation. Everybody has sex. This is about gender preference - and you don't know what that means, so - this conversation is going to be interesting

What's wrong with having sex with the same gender as your own?

We are having this conversation, and that doesn't change what I said. So far, I don't see your point, other than to disagree with me, without really stating anything.

People are already treated equally. Special privileges are what are being demanded now, and the ability to remove the rights of others if those others don't agree with a certain point of view.

Who the hell are you to decide anything for anyone else? You don't own people

Who is anyone else to decide what some baker of photographer will or will not do? Oh wait, I forgot; Christians aren't supposed to have rights from the "tolerance" crowd!

Do you have anything constructive to add, or are you just here to disagree, and rant?

Then is the third group such as the one I belong too that are non believers )I mean non religious, maybe gnostics and atheists) who don't agree with the lifestyle of LGBT, might be disgusted with it and strongly disagree but recognize the right of free choice and respect others life style as long as it doesn't affect their own.

I gave you a star for being an open minded bigot.

I actually have to disagree with you on this point - it doesn't disgust me. Quite frankly, it doesn't disgust me because I don't visualize it.. but then, I don't visualize old people having sex either. Now, if one were to go into graphic detail I might go ewww.. but then, there is a reason "mom porn" uses terms like "his manhood" instead of more graphic words..

As for the discussions, they are laws that are getting voted on.. and we should know our stance so that we are voting for what we feel is right! That is what this country is about.. and in this case, it might mean having discussions that ask tough questions, both for us to ask, and even for them to answer..

but that is okay, because it is only through honest and open dialogue that we grow!

Some gays are chill and live their lives like everyone else not being oppressed like usual. Others have a chip on their block because of some bullying. People don't care if anyone is gay anymore. That change happened in the 90's. Gay people are accepted in 'society.' And that's what's wrong. They want to stand out and be special and recieve special rights. It's abused and makes a mockery of other gays who are willing to just be a casual part of society. The LGBT is borderline fascist. If you don't agree with them, or believe in a religion they want to load you up on a box and send you to Auschwitz. What's sad is that they preach equality, anti-oppression, anti-bullying, anit-prejudice, yet they are hypocritical about their 'standards.' They have one redneck hillbilly 'Christian' call em homos and they accuse anyone who is 'Christian' of having the same opinion and personality. It's a paradox really. They preach tolerance but don't want to give any out.

Wow

I'm offering to nominate you for the Blinders and Rose Colored Glasses Award

you're a shoe-in

So in the 90's it all ended? Nobody cared any more after December 31, 1999? I'm going to request a few things from you if that is OK. I'll itemize for ease of use...I like efficiency

1. Please show me the final strike down of laws where all LGBT members can get married legally in EVERY state and the country/federal as a whole.

2. Please show me the polls where 1% or less of voters think gay marriage should be legal and valid

3. Please show me that things like Texas' HB 4105 aren't actually being attempted

4. Please show me that potential presidential candidates like Cruz aren't trying to bring back "tradition"

Come on back with all that and I'll add a few more to the request pile.

To be honest, there is a big swath in the gay community, who do preach tolerance but don't hand any out.

Let's all remember, at the top of both sides of this fight, LGBT and Conservatives, there is a TON of money to be made by keeping this issue alive.

Even the noble succumb to the mighty dollar after a decade of being paid big bucks just to go on CNN and talk down to people.

On both sides that is.

Not that it's a majority, I myself am gay and don't particularly agree with the LGBT community on a wide variety of issues.

And sometimes, for a group that wants to preach acceptance, they act pretty damn separatist about it. Doesn't make their quest for equal rights any less valid, but it does make those who are least likely to go a long with changes in society, more apt to be fervently against it.

That's fine and dandy. Having my preference split, experiences with both, BUT growing up in a very accepting family/community...I DO see where some LGBT members have raised holy hell on someone because of them being cis, straight etc.

My response was solely to CretinHop who apparently has decided that as on 1999, there is no more widespread hatred of LGBT members/community...that's total BS so my response was directed solely to him and his charge.

Eeeeek! I didn't say the gay community has the entire scope of 'legal' or political 'rights' available to them that they desire. What I was getting across was the point that the majority of the newer generations like myself are used to homosexual culture and don't have any negative feelings towards them. The 90's was a pivotal moment for gays 'socially' because the private film industries and within work enviromenta people started showing/supporting how normal of people they are and helped debunk stereotypes. But no, you are right they don't have all the 'political' benefits they seek.

Kind of contorting my words a bit but I like your response. I should've clarified more that 'socially' homosexuals are accepted, hence the reason why they are a part of our everyday media/entertainment/and lives. In the workplace they are even included on diversity training videos and a lot of emphasis is out on treating everybody equally.

Such humble, balanced and respectable points. Thanks for being realistic! I just hate fascism from any group. Everyone should tolerate everyone. I think gays have been horribly treated by certain groups for a long time, but I hope that progression will keep the community from sinking to their level. a reply to: tothetenthpower
