Everyone tries it on a bit, its no different than a couple of people trying to work out who's harder than who at school when neither have actually fought each other

The newly released images prompted concern from the United States, which warned China that its island building activity posed a threat to regional stability.

"Pushing it", huh? On those same little islands in their backyard?

The US complaining about regional stability… lol

This has been going on for a while with mining rights at dispute. With China setting up camp it is putting a big flag in the region.

China's been pushing this for quite some time, but it would be unfair to solely blame them for it. A lot of the region there is disputed between many states, but it seems that China is the one which is more determined to exert their force and influence. Although Japan has also been pushing some buttons.

It should not come as a surprise that China's economic growth would not get displayed in more overt ways .Even Japan seems to be tip toeing towards China in economic ways and may not be so inclined to duke it out but will choose a more diplomatic way forward for the region .

While the west has been growing deeper in debt with their by hook or by crook , China has been humbly collecting the cash and using it in ways that the west cant usurp . Looking at their policy's even Afghanistan shows they are being courted to invest and will end up being the glue to a peaceful process forward in that region . India along with Russia and Iran will end up making Pakistan jealous to get on board the silk road project .

I think that the fact there is a very large demographic moving towards cooperation speaks volumes and with the individual nations being more and more capable of defending their own borders will nullify the rouge puppet groups in the region to vanish in time .Can you imagine how long Saudi Arabia could last if a large collective group sanctioned them ?

Listening to a interview earlier on CBC with a Canadian that lives in Afghanistan , he said that even the Taliban have a relationship with China and said that they had asked the China for missals to fight NATO/US/Canada but were told no .That speaks volumes and shows that China is working with a different playbook then the west .

The problem with China is that these Islands are not in their backyard, unless you have no grasp of geography.

These are China's claims in the South China Sea.

As usual, some people are so quick to blame the US, like their view is meaningless. In fact everyone with a beach in proximity to the South China Sea is worried about China's unreasonable assertion that the whole sea is theirs. Anyone with half a brain can work it out (see map above).

America is the one "grasping" the worlds geography. "South China Sea" not Chinas backyard., pffft…

I'll tell you who has no say there…

It's so easy to bring in western hypocrisy to some of these things that are portrayed as conflicts here at home .We are told there is a issue when there may not be one .The Wests does need it's boogeymen to keep the politicians in the know needed by their vulnerable constituents . The UN works when it's needed for the west to make it work in ways that keep the scam going . This latest Gulf States going to war against Yemen and not even bringing it to the UN will only come back to bite them all .

Gee imagine that China a country in that part of the world actually having the audacity to float war ships in the region .Canada on the other hand has military ships in the Gulf and run all around the world where ever the US / NATO has need for them .

You post that map like it is meaningful.

I also love how the arrow that points to the Spratly's, points to the portion of the island chain well within territorial waters.

For all we know the work that China is doing is on the Spratly's that are currently in International Waters.

But, why think anything like that when there is the agenda to push?

Whether we like it our not, there are pieces of the Spratly Islands in International waters...unclaimed. First come first serve. And, yes, if China sets up shop on one of those, it will become theirs with a split water zone between them and the nearest alternative party.

Thats the real 'pushing'. Watch, though, its some uninhabited sand bar in the China Sea we need to focus on. That and another "Main Stream Pivot" called North Korea.

Ye shall know them by their fruits.

So the US has no right to support allies and friends in the region who are being bullied around by an unreasonable neighbour? Soon the land-grabbing by some nations will become normal. What a lovely world some people want to live in.

How is this any different from America/Europe pushing their power in Ukraine or Middle East?

Yea it's the fault of the USA that the Philippines has to keep value squad of marines on a derelict ship in the spratleys to keep China from claiming some island in philipino territory.

Also china's pushing the last couple of years is why Japan has floated the idea of a south east Asia version of nato.

Oh and depending on the source China has had q series of incidents on the Vietnam border...all the way up to its a full blown brush war.

So yes China is flexing it's muscle on nations much smaller than them..

The issue people either ignore or didnt know about is expanding islands like china is doing has no standing on territorial claims per the UN.

Interesting considering Russia never bothered with the UN when they invaded Ukraine and illegally occupied Crimea. Nor did they when they occupied most of Europe as the USSR. Nor did they in Afghanistan.

Land grabbing, you mean like America did to Hawaii?

And china with Russia, India, Vietnam, Philippines, Taiwan, Pakistan, Afghanistan.........

I think the west should return the security council seat china holds back to its rightful owner - Taiwan.

If china insists on recognizing Crimea then we should recognize Taiwan.

I think the entire VETO should be removed from everybody in the UN and everybody gets a say, not just a selected few with the power to VETO anything.

I could agree with that should the UN become a democracy. Since they aren't no thanks.
