That being said, I do not need the world's approval of my country's government, haters are going to hate. But it REALLY makes me mad when they blame us citizens. Some of us have been voting to stop this train wreck for a very long time.

Only once in my entire 25 year voting career has my candidate won the Presidency. Yes, it was Bush in 2000, but honestly it was a vote AGAINST Al Gore. Who I firmly believe would have put us in worse shape than Bush did.

I really hope more and more of my fellow Americans will wake up to the reality of the two party system. It's killing everything we hold dear.

I originally voted for Israel, but thinking about it, they are the threat in the Mid East.

The USA is THE biggest threat to entire world peace on paper. I change my vote to that

of it makes you feel any better, there is no shortage of self loathing represented in that poll. I know I voted USA. Not because I think Americans are bad, but because our government is.

We are the only nation on Earth that avails itself of constant conflict, and we do it unnecessarily. Sure, our flag doesn't fly atop the capital of a bunch of other nations, but that makes us no less imperialistic. And to top it all off: the military might is leveraged to the benefit of mostly exploitative corporate leash holders.

I have seen a few good patriotic folks mention that a viewpoint such as mine is illogical. I can't imagine how that could even be said. It isn't anti-US to be critical of our government. Actually, that is the most American thing I can imagine. If we have more of it, the US might not be the biggest threat to humanity.

If you didn't pick the UK, then your wrong. I'm certain that the uk/london is the epicentre of all the mischief and corruption that happens in the modern world. Btw when I say uk I mean they operate out of and were established in. Nothing to do with the people living there. I'm talking secretive org.

The crux of the threat posed by the US military.

The government, in my simplistic view, is held hostage by the irresistible influence upon politicians via cash donations from corporations which would hugely profit from the R&D of new weapons systems. The military is not completely dependant on whoever is POTUS at the time because it is $$$money$$$ that rules what the president is capable of.

I'm more interested in a world wide space program but I am just telling you what I see in the world,military wise.
When they got that influx of cash from Hong Kong,I thought Commie hardliners would begin to play games like this. I guess Vietnam is more of a copacetic group even AFTER the French convinced our hawks to forment a war there.
But I can't really tell if China wants at fight to control the entire area or they are usurping authority.
Japan trusts us THEY say ( I really hope we maintain our friendship,I don't need to see another betrayal by our govt)

Maybe you should understand that people don't necessarily see your country the way you do?

I get that you have pride in your country, and that you probably consider yourself patriotic (me, I'm the same) but don't you think that maybe, instead of dismissing things so offhandedly, its time to sit down, listen and try and figure out why people have the opinion they do?

Lots of people in thread have tried to explain it, so instead of simply dissing it (which comes across as arrogant, which is a trait many people cite they dislike) why not think about it a bit?

Their leaders learned how to play the sabre rattling game .. but the regular guy in the street is far more concerned with making lots of money .. get bored to tears when visit china hearing all the ideas they have to make money .. which could be why the west not happy with them if they ran with some of the moneymaking schemes Ive heard them talk about all the bankers in the west would lose their shirts overnight ... vietnamese for most part are a more hardworking mellow lot .. just dont piss them off .. theyve tossed out the chinese .. cambodians .. french and americans over their long history .. china may sabre rattle but they wont push vietnam as theyd get their ass handed to them again .. at present both more interested in improving ties and trade relations vietnams pm in china on state visit now to improve relations and trade between the two ..

It's entirely possible to be proud of the people and beauty of the country one calls home and disappointed in the machinations of those corporations and politics of that same country.

As a Canadan, that's exactly how I feel about my country... love the place and population but disgusted by the way the powers that be are ruining it.

People are familiar with the phrase "Pride goeth before a fall" And most take it to mean if you're too proud / conceited you will fail or not be well thought of.
For a moment consider a different meaning.
When you loose your pride, when you fail to care or your esteem falters you fail. You cease trying and give up. When pride goes you fall.
It seems that many Americans are suffering from this in regards to our country. Maybe not on a personal level. There we think of ourselves as altruistic and generous but on the bigger scale they see our country as the world's police. A military force and a scary opponent. That's true but if the dominoes start to fall who do you think the nation's of the world will call? No not ghost busters. They'll call US.
And we'll be there just like we always are. I don't see the USA as a threat to humanity. I see us as its saviour. You'll see.

I see that too. But our countries are more about us it's people than its tunnel envisioned leaders. When the chips are down its us, the little guys, who's efforts will have the most meaning. PS I love Niagara . Your side is so much more fun and interesting!

Even if Israel have 100-200 low yield nuclear weapons those are not an ultimate danger to all humanity.

Islam was not born in Israel, I am quite aware of that. But it was born from the same Abraham core books that Christianity and Judaism were. And Israel is holy in Islam, because it holds Jerusalem, a very holy place in Islam.
