So, micromanaging is now redefined to fit into this narrative of removing money given to people, and instead providing them with actual food, where the goal is to feed them.

Interesting.

It isn't redifined, what you describe is an example of micromanaging.

It isn't just that, for you to think that you are entitled to do so, is you doing what you are complaining about.

Sense of entitlement, to different things but still, entitlement.

Why not just offer a bread, rice, and beans line?(sarcasm)

Once again the poor are being blamed.

Why not focus on getting these people good paying jobs instead?

Why don't these people focus on getting themselves jobs? I agree that food stamp recipients shouldn't be buying 'luxury' foods, but it's not something that should be strictly enforced. I also think welfare/food stamp recipients should be drug tested. I can't tell you how many times I've been to a grocery store and seen people with 2 carts of name brand junk food, but they have expensive clothing on, their nails and hair are done up and then they wheel this free food out to their Escalade. Meanwhile, I have to try and be thrifty so I can afford daycare and other family expenses. Makes me sick. The system sucks and people need to help themselves and not rely on the government for handouts. They CAN get themselves jobs, but they probably make more money not working and pumping out kids every other year.

You are so full of s.

See my previous post for reporting fraud. Do us all a favor, and take the numbers down. When you SEE this again *rolls eyes* you get their TAG NUMBER, you get a physical description, and you call those numbers and make a report. You can do this privately, without harassing the person. (As if........)

But you won't, and you know damn well why you won't. You are just stereotyping, spreading BS, and repeating something you heard some other bitter 'pecking order' redneck say years ago.

See, I don't rely on the Govt to provide for me.

This thinking always confuses me? What is the relevance? I don't rely on Government to feed me either, but my universe includes the understanding that we live in a country of 300 Million people and some of those people are hungry children.

We...as a country of 300 Million people + Macman have decided that we don't like starving children.

I understand that you are proud that you do not rely on SNAP, just not sure why you think National Policy should be instituted based on your personal status?

I think there is a component of inwardness within Far Right Conservatives.

The idea that people could care about the welfare of strangers seems so alien to them that they perpetually shout that anyone looking to help alleviate the suffering of the poor must be doing it for votes!

I just find it indicative when a debate arises on these forums, conservatives always need to include the general "I don't depend on Gov.!" thing..

It's really not about you..or me...it's about those amongst us not so fortunate and what we choose to do about it.

Why don't these people focus on getting themselves jobs?

Where, exactly?

In Bangladesh? China? India?

Why do people in the South always wind up getting hit?
Somehow what was an interesting thread has turned into degrading a region of the country...as usual...

It's a shame!

Its called "micromanaging" because of the enormous additinoal cost of implementing the plan, which is meant solely to make sure that recipients don't eat something that a regular taxpayer not on assistance might be offended by.

If it were a cost neutral proposition....you might get me on board.

I thought you were very eloquent and respectful in making your points.
You had some valid ones.

I agreed with you on some but, then somehow the work "redneck" comes out and it gives the appearance that you feel only Southerners, or Democrats (?), or poor rural farmers are the one's who feel the system could be being abused.
It just seems that sometimes on these threads if someone has a differing opinion, they must be an uneducated Southerner.

If that is NOT how you meant it then, apologies...for how it was taken...

Soooo, I'm entitled, and your using the negative connotation of this, because I am tired of money stolen from me to give to others. Literally....money taken from me and literally given to others.
Okay then...I'm entitled to that whole Freedom of Speech thing.

And again...Since I back less Govt and am against Tyranny, I must therefore be against restrictions placed on people receiving tax payer funded welfare MONEY.
Where do you come up with that crap?

Were you garnished for some reason?
Or - are you simply paying TAXES, the same as everyone else who lives here?

Did someone come to your home and demand at gunpoint that you hand over everything? Were you stripped of your home, your job, your dignity? No? Then, how in the world do you call it "theft"?

Woe woe woe there my hairy ATS friend.

What I suggested, would probably have a cost savings to the tax payer.
And....would remove the transaction charge, going to the banks everyone hates....and it feeds people with actual food.

Instead of handing someone $200, which can be spent on items like a sugar/carb infused pizza from the local sev, giving someone say 5lbs of beef, 5lbs of chicken, 15lb bag of rice, 15lb bag of beans, 1g of milk would go a longer way into "feeding" people.

And...would tap the local growers/farmers/cattle owners/chicken rustlers and help that local market.

But....the irony here is that I am all for helping to feed those that need it for a short time. SNAP/EBT hands over money. What I back hands over food.

Did I give the Federal Govt permission to take money that I earned?
I did not.

I bet your the first to complain about that same money take from me, that is taken from you, when it is used for war.

Taking without permission is theft in any other instance in life, except when the Fed Govt does it. And it backs things you agree with.

Government is supposed to be "for the people by the people" SNAP is one of the few government programs that actually benefit the people. What are we paying taxes for if we're never allowed to benefit from those taxes? SNAP is there to providing government assistance to the people it serves when they are struggling in our struggling economy. Our relationship is supposed to be one that is mutually beneficial.

Meanwhile you seem of the opinion that should the government ever actually do anything to benefit the people under it's care who need it, it's a crime of the highest magnitude. That should the people who've paid their taxes, who've served this country, or are children who've never yet been given that chance should be made to suffer as much as humanly possible until they get their head back above water if they fall on hard times.

What am I paying taxes for? So some politician can eat steak and lobster on his first class seat while touring the nation? That's a much better use of my tax money. I bet we're spending tons more feeding people who are not economically struggling than we are on SNAP if you really dug deep. (rolls eyes)

You act like the government doing anything to care for it's citizens is a crime, with that mentality then we truly do exist as nothing more than slaves, since we hold responsibility to the government but it holds none for us.

I mean..to feed just one starving child would be the bestest.

The Govt is not there to be mommy and daddy to people. It is not there to take from one to give to another.

If you have a feeling to help people, why don't you go and do it? Or do you just rely on Govt doing that for you as well?
