Thanks Asmall89.
MimiSia: Yes its a hype. As I see it the US tried to take away the Krimea with the only russian icefree harbour and base for mediteranian operations
from the russians, rendering russian global conventional forces abillities non existent. It would have been a nice idea to become the only hegemon and
once and for "all" time pushing russia out of the club of superpowers. Ad to that, that Ukraine was one of the mayor contributors to russian weapons
production and even highly involved in russian nuclear and space technology, all those connections were cut when the "new" government took over.
Although the russian military industrial complex took a blow (Helicopters, Ships, Aircraft: newest generation), it was not far fetched that russia
would not watch krimea been taken without intervention.
Never the less, this struggle for power was never planed to be one of the classic war kind, there is just to much at stake, specially with the
laughable state of european armies vs. russia. If Putin would have been sick for the wrong month or otherwise distracted they might just got through
with it. On the other hand, for what was to gain the price of some few billions for a "uprising" was cheap and worth a try. Nodody in this
geostrategic club cares about dead eastern ukrainian people really. A shame but true.
