Stayed out of this one as nothing was being confirmed.....rather glad i did now!

However, it is good to see Russia (and Putin) have a sense of humour about the whole issue.....Putin dismisses gossip over absence

I love that quote......."life would be boring without gossip".

I have to say, politically i am quite a long way from Putin.......but as the years go on, i can't help but admire some of his actions and stances. Although the action man pics just make me laugh.

Treat Russia properly and we have nothing to fear from them and everything to gain.

They just reported about it on Bloomberg TV. Yes, no mention of flu, just Putin saying "the world would be boring without gossip." It's being reported as a very light-hearted story.

Perhaps a social media experiment then.

yet when the sexy bear wrestling, ninja, cradle robber and dictator of a super power everyone is mum

Hahah ,

Something might have happened and still might be happening, but in my opinion social media like tweeter and FB are a catalyst for rumors to flourish. Unless they are providing links to live feed, or pictures of events I really don't see its value as a credible news source for much. Fun ride nonetheless.

From some of the insider comments it also appears that friends and cousins in the CIA were apparently not much of value either.

I think now is the most interesting part by going back to what sources flourished the B$ and which ones kept it on track and who spoke like they had insider information that was totally wrong.

Putin may have shown up, but I don't think "nothing" happened.

Doubtful it was a social media experiment.

I do think some hardliners may have gotten some ideas for down the track....

If he was attending the birth of his child, it is alarming that one of the most powerful men in the world can strangle media so much that his girlfriends pregnancy goes unreported.

Anyway there is a flame war between Elton John and Dolce and Gabbana, more important things to reflect on

I think it's about time we had a little clearing of the air here...

1. Not everyone in this thread instantly subscribed to the gossip and unfounded rumors

2. Members like Phage occasionally ridiculed and attacked even verifiable information

3. The definition of "theory" is - "a supposition or a system of ideas intended to explain something, especially one based on general principles independent of the thing to be explained."

4. Breaking news can be anything, it does not have to conform to your specific notions of what is important. It was a breaking news story that Putin had not been seen for almost two weeks.

5. Regardless of Putin having apparently resurfaced, there is still cause to discuss and debate his absence. However you want to cut it, this is incredibly unusual,

Here's the crux of it...

Putin vanished for almost two weeks.
He missed the FSB meeting for the first time in his career.
The Kremlin was unable or unwilling to say where he was.
Disinformation was intended to make it appear that he had not disappeared.
NATO is currently in the Black Sea, and shadowed by Russian military.
Several nations are currently assisting Ukraine with military defense and training, something Putin threatened to retaliate against.

Whether you considered that he was ill, dead, or had been overthrown, your opinions WERE VALID, based on the information we all had and the circumstances of his disappearance. Anyone who was either alive in the early 1990's or has read up on Russian history would have very good reason to suspect that something untoward was happening.

There is plenty of evidence already gathered to show that he was absent for two weeks, that the Kremlin lied about where he was, and that the Russian media worked with the Kremlin to attempt to give a false impression of him conducting "business as usual" when he was obviously unaccounted for on the public stage.

Good points all. Putin was 'missing' from the public which is highly unusual for him (fact). And most everyone was posting their opinion, ideas, theories, options, possibilities based on that fact. Now if someone wants to come in here and call us all stupid for speculating, fine. But as someone else said, that horse was at the glue factory, give it a rest.

It's funny that this thread is so seemingly threatening to some... that others are able to have a free, open, brainstorming, alternative discussion? It's mind-blowing! The fact remains he was 'behind closed doors for 10 days'. Something happened, are we all just to wait and be told what to think by the state run U.S. media?

Just because he has re-appeared, it doesn't take away from many of the thoughts that were posted in this thread. Whoever said Putin is bad for Russia is speaking from a western powers propaganda pov. Putin is very good for the people of Russia, and I'd bet money that someday in the future, this 10 day 'missing from the public eye' will prove to have been significant in some way that we won't know 'fer shur' til then.

imo it was also interesting that Presstv, RT, Asian Times had zero news stories about Putin, nothing, Putin wasn't even mentioned. speculating.... those countries weren't 'asking where Putin was' because they knew where he was. If any countries had reason to be worrying about Putin's whereabouts, it would have been those.

So refreshing to have a place for 'normal' people to be able to discuss things without having to go through the censorship comment portals at cnn, msnbc, fox et al

For those willing to write this off as a hoax and dismiss social media, you don't realize what you are losing. So now the next time an event happens and you see reports of it on social media, eyewitness accounts, pictures and even videos, you will doubt it. Wars could happen and not be reported by the MSM and you will doubt what you read on Twitter, because "Twitter was wrong about Putin." Whole populations could be wiped out and you would doubt it. You will only believe it if the MSM tells you it's true. So, you have just lost the greatest benefit of The Internet.

I believe this was a false flag event.

Odd how he has supposedly "re-appeared", yet he has not touched his social media accounts since the 6th and prior to that were daily tweets. While he may not be the one that is supposed to update these, the fact they have not been, is there.

Putin Twitter

Purposely staying out of the media war waging between the west and Russia? Can't talk smack about him if they have nothing to talk about. But hey I don't know... your guess is as good as mine.

It's because of Twitter and Facebook that the Syrian Revolution occurred, so they are very powerful tools in the reporting of truth.

Here is something to consider. Was it true? Is Putin dead? Has he been neutralized? Was there a coup?

As opposed to BBC, FOX, CNN et al who have all been proven to fake their 'news' STORIES lol.

You really are dense aren't you, and btw that was a rhetorical question meaning you don't need to answer because the answer is obvious. It's obvious that you are a very literal person. Go back to your nice comfortable box with your other square pegs before you hurt yourself.

This should be round the clock headline news on the BBC , CNN, Sky News and so on. This is more than serious. No real reporter should rest until the fate of Putin has been discovered.

This is bizzare -- Anderson Cooper, where are you?

Anderson Cooper has ties to the CIA.

The CIA has ties to Operation Mockingbird.

I am not saying I trust twitter more then him,
but I will say I don't trust former or current CIA ops.

There is a BIG difference between a hoax and rumor. A hoax is something deliberately designed to mislead or paint something as something it is not. This is a thread to discuss the rumors surrounding Putin's disappearance. Of which there were MANY. This is a legitimate thread. Just because Putin is back, it does not diminish the fact that these rumors were real. Stop complaining about semantics and either join the discussion, or not.
