It's a play on words you have to realize the bible is pretty much rapping they used double entendres and double meaning a lot that's why they are verses the prophets would rap the verses in the bible like a rapper raps today

How will we live then what would be the motivation of having a job? Besides the menial tasks that can be done by automation. Do ppl really think humans don't take pride in their work. Is a doctor really only in it for the money and not because they save lives? Would he not want to be known as the best doctor ever? If you knew money was his only motivator and saving lives wasn't would you still want him as your doctor?

S&F. This is a way I've honestly NEVER thought of for our use of technology. Everything is so tied up in money, my brain only got so far back as trade and barter. The markets could all crash and it might be a great thing (after initial chaos, obviously.). That's as close as we will get to a level playing field as a species.

An appeal to people's pride is a great motivation. I know I've done plenty of awful things for free. Once a new generation were raised in a positive, currency-free environment, there'd be a greater strength in community and understanding that we all rely on each other, not cash.

Untrained workforces can be trained. How about kinetic energy being created through walking treadmills? Almost anyone could do that, let them watch or listen to what they want while they take a stroll. The solutions for worldwide issues would be expanded - for example science wouldn't be based on funding, which would create great advancement and we could have smarter robots doing more dirty work for us. We'd need guidelines of course... And keep an eye out so not to open the same old cans of worms we face now...

Very nice thoughts, regardless of the Bible tie in or not, which I found interesting. Thanks for knocking my cynicism level down a notch.

Wow. This is very intriguing to me. I've long believed usury to be an "abomination," just as the Old Testament tells us, but I've never seen the issue examined like this before. Thank you!

I need to read this and think on it more though before I can comment further.

But thank you!

Very good ideas the treadmill thing would be a good way to stay healthy and power a city. and I think it is very hard for us to think this way because we've been conditioned all our lives. The matrix is very real and we live in it everyday never knowing the true infinite possibilities of life

Misquote

Money really is the root of all evil.

Money is never said to be the root of all evil.

THE LOVE of money is the root of all evil
1 Timothy 6:10

And there is a big difference.

Lol your automatically going to love something that sustains you that lets you rise through the classes that gives you status. That's like saying drugs aren't bad the addiction to drugs are bad. It's self fulfilling if money gives you everything you want how can you not love it?

How is that relevant? To say money is the root of all evil is a misquote
and not anywhere near the truth. The truth is in the actual quote.
So your thread fails.

"Why do Christians overlook the biggest deception in the bible?"

Why do non Christians care so much?

It's not your faith or tool for internal guidance, don't worry about it as if it were. Go your own route and respect others choosing theirs.

Deception in society and government, why is that overlooked? Something that concerns everyone regardless of faith. ..

Worry about that.

Don't take it to hard it happens to everyone here including myself.
Sorry to be so blunt but yes. Pay more attention to what is actually
said if your going to use a quote and remember some quotes are
attributed to a source who never said anything of the like.
I got nailed on that one. No big deal at all.

That what I try to tie this to it's a very clear warning of our state of affairs today I'm not bashing Christians I believe in the bible but I wouldn't consider myself a Christian labels are for boxes

I know religion is a hot touch point here at ATS, but the entire post was in no way a failure.

I wouldn't call this a misquote, it looks more like creative license in a bulletin board post. They weren't externally quoting the bible.

Slinking back over to the other side of the forums now...

The accusation in the heading is indicative of that exactly.

Money is just a symbol. Symbols without belief have no power.
What is not a symbol?

Once the debt-backed money system took hold it became true that the MONEY ITSELF is the evil, not just the love of money.

It isn't the money that enables that but you own efforts and skills.

In the days before money, it was the hunter's prowess that made him important. How does the hunter's prowess get quantified today? Money ... because it became impractical in a complex society for the hunter to haul his kills everywhere with him.

Money is slavery by dark forces (mammon) and greed-possessed humans for control and power over others.

So sad that what God and Nature gives for free , humans want to put a price on for control while all the other creatures live free of money.
