They do have great ASW. No ASW is perfect and if a sub skipper is patient enough he's going to get his target.

"Good" ASW isn't perfect ASW. Carriers get sunk all the time in exercises.

No these exercise are not a test of CV groups defense they are scenerio driven. They tend to be worst case. So for example, sensors could be shut off do to weather or malfuntion etc. Ships moved out of position do to some scenerio etc. Often they are to put ships in situation they would not normally be in so they can learn from what happens. Exercises almost always end with your defeat. You learn nothing by everything working right and winning. The OPFOR almost always comes out on top.

I read that story the other day and laughed a bit. The truth is like a poster said, if a sub captain is patient and intelligent he's gonna sink you no matter what.

A diesel sub the Canadians bought used from the UK 'sunk' a US carrier a couple years ago as well. I'm not sure which was more embarrassing...French or old Canadian hits.

Those older diesel subs are a sub captains bane. Diesel boats are much more quite than the nuclear boats

I spent 12 years on US Navy nuclear submarines. Our toughest foes where always the diesel subs.

I don't know as much about Navy systems, but the Air Force has a number of "Real war use only" systems that are never used in training with foreign aircraft. Not even our closest allies.

With China having even more subs as the US now, a relativity old sub able to sink a US carrier is something to worry about.

China now has more submarines than the U.S., and are expanding global operations

I'd read that actually but you've lived under the sea! I knew Canada was pretty excited to get them and I was surprised as they are now over 35 years old. Apparently they are really quiet like you say and all that tech was well established back then.

en.wikipedia.org...

I guess if you don't want to travel around the world then the quiet diesel/electric is the way to go.

No idea how you did that for so many years! My short tour of a really old, decommissioned Russian sub was really difficult. The idea of having a warm bunk from the guy before you using it did seem awkwardly inviting!

The Chinese Navy is still currently more of a brown water Navy than a blue water Navy. They're improving but they're still designed more as a regional force than a global force.

I know, but not all is in the open with the Chinese.

We also have no idea what kind of tech Russia has exactly shared with them, but seeing Russia needs now baldy Chinese microchips...there could have been a big trade off going on just recently, and the Chinese work fast, really fast.

It just goes to show you that US is delusional

They can get sunk by the French of all people, and yet they are pushing at borders of Russia and China risking a war with nations capable of serous war

These are all excuses

What do you think Russians and Chinese will bring to the table once US finally instigates the war

But don't let me ruin that cocky feelings of absolute superiority

Wow. Really? The French military is actually quite good. And no country in the world is going to fight a war and NOT suffer losses.

Excess excuses

Just implore the United States to only keep attacking the defenceless small nations

I wouldn't be pushing Russia or China into the corner

And have you ever looked at the Russian military lately? They're in no condition to be fighting any kind of peer or even near peer war. And won't be for a few more years at least.

Ever heard of tactical nukes ?

What do you think a real war would look like?

Ever heard of nuclear torpedoes that don't have to exactly hit the target, ever heard of special missiles designed specifically to take out any ships from the coast line

My point is US trigger happy government and their trigger happy supporters HAVE YET TO FIGHT A REAL WAR WITH POWERFUL NATION

If this exercise isn't a warning, I don't know what is

And want to know a secret weapon?

People of a nation that fight to defend themselves fight 3 times harder and are willing to sacrifice more

I am new here maybe I just wasted my time with one of those shil-trolls

I make my posts shorter as I get to know other members

Actually, this is probably a good thing seeing how the French are our allies and would be fighting side by side with us in a conflict.

It's always nice to know that your allies are capable of being a meaningful part of the fight.

And you think the US doesn't have any special weapons in their inventory? Russia and China both are still building and rebuilding militaries capable of fighting a major war against a peer enemy. They can fight harder but if their equipment doesn't hold up they are going to have trouble winning the fight.
