Im quite the lurker on infinity chan and long time lurker of half chan ( rarely any more ) . You might see me on /baph/

I understand what you mean regarding ATS and the direction it has taken. I really started lurking ATS around 2007 and began posting a few years ago. I joined because of my interest in the UFO topic and not much else. It seems a lot of the front page content has turned too political , I hate politics and it is the root to all evil imo. People pushing agendas , people defending the establishment even shilling at times.

Ive had my fill of reptilian's , new age gurus , religious zealots and more. I find myself having to sift through plenty of rehashed topics to find anything new in regards to UFO's. It gets tiresome. Maybe ive just researched all there is to know. The topic kind of bores me now . Too many closed minded people denying the phenomenon in these discussions as well and I find it odd. Then every time there is a world event the front page gets hammered with countless threads on said topic. I hate that.

But yeah i cant browse ATS on my computer now because of all the pop ups and spam it is pushing on us. It is turned in to a commercialized entity driven on profit. Not that I can blame the owners after all they gotta make a living. But it has affected the quality of the site. The site is not ruined it has evolved and tried to keep up with the times and the competition. Gotta take the good with the bad I guess.

I have been here for a while now, though not as long as some. And those 'some', I have watched and read their posts and found a lot of them very thought provoking. This is 2015, and as the Baby Boomers decline in numbers, the younger members bring with them topics of the current times, and their opinions on them. Us Boomers lived in a time when there were still mysteries, stories, legends, a time not too distant from Camelot in a sense. Mysteries were a romance in a way, a crowd pleaser, stories around a campfire in the desert or mountains. Todays stories seem antiseptically clean and devoid of that intangible. I have seen stories copied right off of Coast to Coast and the like, and thought that little or no effort must of been involved to present them here. Just fast-food junk-news, who's content was authored, explored and formed by others efforts. But....... we have original thought here if you know where to look. And those are the truly fascinating stories and content. ATS has gravitated towards entertainment as of late, rather than those stories of intrigue and imagination. But in a sense it is the expected evolution of the site as new blood steps in to present their stories, views and opinions. The mystery that once drew us here is subsiding, but ATS still has a lot of life left. And it's not really that ATS has gravitated so much as that the stories infused into ATS have come from a younger generation.

There's never pop-ups for logged-in members.

Another question, is it possible to add some link free space between the NLBS banners and the scrollbar? 5px would be enough.

I don't have a problem with them trying to make money. I do have a problem with them actively censoring and shutting down threads and actively 'debunking' conspiracy theories that actually have merit. The same conspiracy theories that made them every penny they own today.

I've tried that, via some tricky CSS/HTML5, but couldn't get it right for all screen sizes.

Is it necessary to believe all conspiracy theories, by default, in order to run a conspiracy-themed website?

I agree with your views Plotus, the effect of nearly 20 years of war in the middle east has been a stunting of the public imagination and creativity. The result of attempting to create a world that is "clean" for all to see has been an inability to investigate, question, and reason deeply. In the pursuit of the purely practical we have lost the ability to see beyond our tiny sphere.

You must have missed all the threads discussing the mass fortune you are gathering from ATS' $150k/year income.

If there is anything these last couple of years has shown us is that there is something to the reality of ETs and UFOs. I myself still post on ATS, yes it has lost much of its original impetus but, since most of my posting are on here, along with all the links, it's more convenient to keep posting here.

Speaking from a historical point of view, cultural movements go in cycles, whether organic to the population or guided by an elite, currently we are in the "rebuilding" phase of culture in the U.S. A emphasis on the practical and family, "stoking the homefires" and all that jazz.

Coincidentally it appears as if this cultural cycle was timed, manipulated by power elite, to sabotage any attempt by the general public to meet with ETs in a public setting.

although i do like ats because it does have some good stuff i think the website has become too censored and personal for example if i was to say i hate islam and want to kill every Islamic person(not entirely true i do hate islam but dont want to kill anyone) . i would be labelled a racist, islamaphobe, etc but with other sites i get asked why do i feel this way and there would be a 2 sided discussion but here anything that is considered "taboo" or a true discussion want to be started it instantly gets railroaded

I get so tired of intolerance towards genocide! If I say I want to wipe out a group of people, that SHOULD lead to a productive dialogue...if not, you're closed-minded!

i said i don't want to kill them . but i do hate the religion and religion in general. anyway to prevent thread drift. i have no problem with productive dialogue. if it is productive. but if i say i hate Islam because of Sharia law. i could 80% guarantee that someone would say i'm a islamaphobe and the Christians did alot worse anyway and then it would go on to how america is the bane of the world i have seen it happen to countless threads and it will happen in countless more. that was my argument the murderous genocide was just a example a bad one tho

Do you really think 150 grand is money?

You cant employ 2 people full time after costs...

OR you COULD have 4 people making mcdonalds money....after costs.

A single professional in NY would make about that a year....1 person. There is some context.

If you never ran a business, dont give advice on how to run a business. You think the owners of this site are bawling with ATS money?

Yes. They are living large.

As far as "paid government shill"...LOL

That was my point, Tman. You should have seen the way people were going on about how rich the ATS owners & MODS must be.

I said in at least one thread where it came up that people have absolutely no concept of expenses or economy & class warfare via wage disparity was working far better than they ever planned it to.
