I currently don't have an avatar but if someone wanted to make me a smurfy looking Godzilla or a Godzilla looking smurf I'd be more than happy to use it as my avatars.

I might take a stab at that. I'll let ya know if I can come up with something.

What's the point?

We're all just going to die eventually anyway.

With a name like the one you've chosen for yourself, it makes that statement kind of Ironic.

Rage and insults over a person asking a fairly innocuous question about avatars. LOL

Hashtag first world problems just reached epic new levels.

Why become indignant about something so benign? It's a personal choice to have one or to even see them at all. IMO they are a mindless way to give others a quick reference of the sort of things a person is interested in. I like The Walking Dead, that's that. I've also used Invader Zim, Tyrion Lannister, Lemmy Kilminster, and some abstract / angry art for avatars in the past. In fact there is still at least one person who calls me out every few months, begging me to bring Zim back.

Oh the dark and unspeakable nefariousness at play here...

Oh and the unicorn puking rainbows makes perfect sense to me. I would guess it's a statement about life and how we raise our kids on a steady diet of BS idealisms about how everyone is a winner and everyone matters... right before we spit them into a world populated by predators that is far more grind than glory.

The day we find out that Santa does exist... but that he is really US and that we need to get a second job so that we, for reasons we don't even understand, can tell our own kids the same damned lies and try to hide the painful truth of it all from them for as long as the world lets us.

Puking unicorns embodies that reality brilliantly.

I think he was mocking my general disposition & outlook on life Hahaha

Both posts gave me a chuckle

@Smurfzilla I have something of a smurf obsession, & your username has some amazing avatar potential, LoL

There's at least 2 threads around where you can prob get someone to make you a badass avatar

Yesssss! Invader Zim avatar! Do it!

My avatar & username both contain very intricate meaning on many levels.

Another member once said to me something along the lines of the things that spew from my mouth perfectly matches my avatar, lol

It's strange I have been away for a few days and the first thing I was going to do was finally make an avatar.

I don't think it should be required, but I do notice I have an easier time following long threads with avatars.

I much prefer ATS since the avatars stopped appearing a couple weeks ago.

Don't know why they disappeared, but I'm glad they did.

The ones with movement were distracting and most of the others were misrepresentative or just plain childish.

I went for years without one.

...and the ones I have tend to stay for a long time.

I seldom look at avatars anymore. Unless they're eye scorching...

I find it too hard to come up with anything that I identify with image-wise that I want to be associated with and/or that I want people to "see me" as..

So, no..?

LoL! I used to have a friend on a game forum named Sparkle & we had some rather epic arguments about unicorns vs ponys. I always pictured our avatars battling to the death.

I don't mind folks not having an avatar. What i don't like are folks with avatar backgrounds the same color as their name, so the name appears invisible.

What bugs me is the stupid built in quote feature on ATS, that is Not standard yet seems some folks get real bent out of shape if you don't use it. I prefer using the real quotes "like this" instead using the quote button. When keyboard makers replace my "quote" buttons with a [ quote ] [/ quote ] button, then, i'll be happier about using it.

I actually had grown quite accustomed to quote functions in forums before ATS; except usually it would quote every previous thing quoted up to that point so that you didn't have to read a whole thread to follow a conversation. I can see why ATS wouldn't want to unnecessarily blow up their threads page counts with this, but I find the "Reply" function lacking.

I've been reading ATS for a few years and finally just joined a few weeks ago.
I still need to figure out how to change the background color of an invisible gif I think.
