At one point, a camera from state TV showed a banner which read "if the Americans are ready to be buried at the bottom of the waters of the Persian Gulf -- so be it," according to Reuters. The quote was from Iran’s first Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.

Iran's Revolutionary Guard conducts military drill against replica US carrier

well it is a pretty sad mock up, but the point is clear. they have a strange way to say that they want peace.
i hope that they have better tactics then what they displayed.

this is the country that obama, kerry and many say wants peace and not hell bent on the destruction of the U.S., or it's allies.
for those fan boys that are more than likely to come in and defend them. please are you that ignorant.

more reports.

They might want to practice against 1,000 drones flying through the sky instead....Might give them a better idea of what is coming...Those "replica" ships might make them feel better if they take one down but that doesn't take out the 18 year old kid drinking red bull behind a computer screen flying drones in their sky!

I guess they decided to just ignore the "Group" part of "Carrier Group", not to mention the capabilities of Aircraft on board a US Carrier... Along with the Destroyer, and Nuke Sub, and so on, that an attack would have to overcome. Iran sinking a carrier in a time of war?! Don't make me laugh!

yea, i wonder how they would react to the U.S. if in a mock drill, they put a dozen mocked speed boats racing towards a carrier and then a drone is launched and then all 12 go poof. then the Phalanx and Sea Sparrows blast their pitiful missiles out of the sky.

you can bet they wouldn't be sitting at the peace table with kerry trying to play him and obama, they'd be crying saying we are trying porvoke a war.

All smoke and mirrors, got to keep highly trained troops occupied, don't want them getting restless and going of to join isis, lord knows where that would lead to.

So what?

You do know that the USA has previously drawn up plans to invade the UK and Canada as well as several other 'friendly' nations.
I'd be amazed if they haven't drafted invasion plans against nations that it has deemed 'hostile' over the years, including Iran.

So why wouldn't you expect Iran and other nations to at least try to develop defensive plans against US aggression or from any other nation?

what you talking about the plan that was drawn up 84 years ago when the british empire was still a colonizing empire, and when canada had their own plan to invade the U.S..

plus there was no peace talks happening at the same time, which at this time there is with iran.

here are a couple of quotes for a link for the plan.

All of the plans were discovered at the National Archives when they were declassified in 1974. The original War Plan Red was one of many “color plans” developed as academic exercises in a War Department with too little to do in the 1920s and 30s. The plans were an outgrowth of the creation of the new U.S. Army War College and the U.S. Army War Plans Division. With the development of a planning capacity the Pentagon figured they should get some practice.

As for the Canadians, they had their own plan outlining the invasion of the United States. Developed in 1921, it was called "Defense Scheme Number One," and it called for Canadian soldiers to march on Albany, Minneapolis, Seattle and Great Falls, Montana. They were well aware that they lacked the military strength to defeat the U.S., so the thrust of the plan was to buy time for the British to arrive and help their commonwealth ally.

America's Secret Plan to Invade Canada

did you notice that the words, developed as academic exercises in a War Department with too little to do in the 1920s and 30s it was just a busy work and didn't amount to a hill of beans. besides the U.S. and Britain were not engaged in tensions that had lasted for last 35 plus years.

plans and drills are two different things, especially when you paint a nations flag and imitate one of their ships, and shoot video of it's destruction while captioning a quote of a threat from a one of their former leaders.

Do you honestly believe that the US currently has no up to date plans to invade Iran, North Korea or even alleged 'friendly' country's like the UK and Canada etc?

Of course they will - maybe not down to the exact specifics but they'll have some sort of plans.
And I don't doubt for one minute that they'll have defensive contingency plans in the event of the US coming under attack from a foreign nation.

It would be highly negligent of them if they didn't.

And its more than likely that other nations will have plans in the event of an attack from nations hostile to them.

Why wouldn't governments prepare for such eventualities?
Seems prudent to me.

And I have absolutely no doubt that the US / UK both have war games / drills to prepare for any attack from Eastern Europe etc.

So really, why wouldn't Iran try to prepare to defend itself from an attack from the US?

All nations do these sort of thing - why should it be any different for Iran to do so?

With all due respect, mountain and mole hill springs to mind.

The USA is ALWAYS threatening war. So is Israel.

And if/when the USA does attack aircraft carriers will be the main tool used.

So it seems pretty prudent to me that they practice attacking aircraft carries.

Im sure the USA has done plenty o drills on attacking Iranian targets too!

Or is it another hypocritical case of the saying only the USA are allowed to defend themselves?

Don't be a so ignorant.

Iran have no capability to invade or destroy us.

Sure they are practicing the destruction of US military assets. But seeing as the US has threatened war what the hell you expect?

Them to roll over peaceably if US troops go marching in?

They want to defend themselves.

Sure Obama is making peace offerings but chances are him and the democrats with be out of office in 2016 and another warmongering Bush will be in.

The US has been around their border for decades with their military.

And you wonder why they make this?

Jeez, I wonder why...

Maybe, if the US stopped this bs abroad it would make them less hated by the middle eastern countries.

You hit the nail on the head there.

If you going to threaten a country with military action and have Aircraft and Aircraft carriers circulating just out side there borders then dont be surprised if that country starts training there military with that military in mind!

"It seems they've attempted to destroy the equivalent of a Hollywood movie set."

Love this quote from Cmdr. Kevin Stephens...it just about perfectly sums up the drill.

I am guessing that the "Aircraft Carrier" wasn't shooting back.

of course U.S. does, and these plans are constantly revised. but we just recently sat down with them at the table. even when the U.S. does have " war games" / drill, you don't see the U.S. making videos showing our military might with a caption saying, "if the Iranian's are ready to be buried at the bottom of the waters of the Persian Gulf -- so be it," from their former leader that started the U.S. is the Great Satan, and was constantly trying to pick a fight.

you call that a friendly gesture? would the UK, or the U.S., do that during a time when peace talks are going on and broadcast it knowing the the worlds MSM would pick it up?

your just showing your ignorance, you can bet Iran has no intentions of negotiating a peace, and if a deal is reached they'll be the ones to break claiming some offense. their just playing the world and buying time. they are hell bent on obtaining a nuke and starting a war.

Good luck getting to the aircraft carrier itself, like someone else said, the carrier group surrounds it. Somehow if they manage to bypass the group, thre carrier has armaments to protect itself, and if they manage to get ON the carrier itself, Marines and sailors will repel the invaders.
Not to mention they wont bring the carrier group close to land, it sits out there in the middle of deep water.
So yeah, good luck with that Iran...

And that government will be out in 2016.

They likely fear another Bush will get in.

Cause that there CULTURE.

There culture is based around big gestures and grand standing and basically bull#ting.

This is why the USA foreign policy in the ME has been such a epic failure.

Your trying to pigeon hole there actions under western standards.
