Anarchy has a way of turning every person into an animal.

If you can so viciously attack animals in such a way.
You couldn't possibly see anything else clearly either.

We could at least fix the corrupt legal system, I think that's what people are getting at.

97% of people in jail are there on plea bargains, not as a result of a genuine conviction after a trial.

What's due process again?

Oh my god, I did not know that.

It's a great game they play... you go to a preliminary hearing facing three charges... they offer you a plea down to one that is lesser offense... if you don't take the plea they double the charges and take it to trial... which costs more money than most have to fight... if you used these tactics in "real life" it'd be called extortion... but when the "good guys" do it it's called "crime fighting"...

This is precisely why you see cities/counties with conviction rates approaching 99%. You would think "wow they never make a mistake" but its really that you have no choice unless you have deep pockets and a loud voice.

Bad things happen because people think they can get away with doing them.

People don't do bad things if the risk of getting caught is apparent. People don't (usually) do bad things if the reward isn't worth the risk.

Stop and put this thread into perspective.

To be completely accurate it's 97% of federal prisoners, just a mere 94% of state.

I know of no officers who "want" this type of setup. I also know of no police agency that has anything even remotely close to whats in the article.

If the thing exists, then it's obvious from the lack of info that the police in that area are pretty much going along with it lockstep.

Your claim is a perfect example of the us verse them mentality. You assume all law enforcement is the same, attack them and then complain they dont trust the people.

I think it would be nuts for a cop to trust me. You don't know me. What's funny is when you want me to trust YOU. I should be able to in a sane world. You guys should all be vetted and as without corruption as can be found in the population. But, you know, look at this. Really. WTF?

How can they trust individuals when those individuals think all law enforcement is evil?

Does this article give you a happy feeling? Make you feel all warm and fuzzy, or would you, if you worked Chicago PD and knew it was there, blow the whistle on it?

Here is a novel suggestion -

Before grabbing the pitchforks and torches maybe some investigations should be done to verify the accuracy / legitimacy of the claims.

Fair enough...know anyone in Chicago PD?

The "secret prisons" described in the History Channel softball treatment are federally managed detention centers, and not really that "secret."

The rendition sites of which I spoke in the opening post have been established by regional law enforcement, ranging from state police departments to city police departments.

Puhleeeze. I've been to REAL rendition sites. There ain't none here in the U.S. Just a conspiracy nut's wet dream.

Don't know if this is of interest, but I feel it's somewhat relevant.

I spent upwards of 2 months in a 8x8 rubber "violent confinement cell" even though I was calm, quiet and completely compliant. My crime? Having a mental illness and having a break from reality. When my parents called the police to ask them to take me to an inpatient facility, the officer decided to charge me for an minor altercation that happened between my parents and I while I was in a dissociated state.

That room had no toilet, no sink....nothing. Just a step to sleep on, a drain on the floor and a slot in the door. The intercom didn't work. I wasn't allowed a blanket and the florescent lights were on 24/7 during the duration of my confinement there. I was in a dissociated state before I went in there and was hallucinating pretty severely by the time they moved me after two months. The only human contact I experienced was when the slot in the door opened for meals. No human contact whatsoever for two months. No sunlight, no sense of time, freezing my little butt off and extreme disorientation and time dilation compounded my initial break from reality. By the time all was said and done I thought I was being microwaved alive before they moved me to another holding cell for eventual psychiatric transfer.

I still experience intense flashbacks of that VC room frequently a decade later.

The kicker? Years later when I was able to hold myself together enough to request my records from that facility for a possible lawsuit....there was absolutely no record or mention of my detainment in that room...no log whatsoever...and that was just a small town Texas County Jail with an underground detainment level.

So yeah, long story short - if they're willing to give that kind of treatment to a passive young girl with a mental condition...it wouldn't surprise me one iota that there are worse facilities out there for certain types of premeditated criminal activity.

This is the previously secret Memorandum of Understanding between the Hudson River Park Trust and the NYPD, granting the NYPD the use of the infamous Pier 57 as a "holding center" during the Republican National Convention.

Until the complaints and FOIA request, Pier 57 was used after the convention, for several months, as a clandestine location for the abuse of suspects.

Defund departments. Pull the plug before it's too late.

There's an easy way to accomplish that... stop committing crimes.

Everything is a crime these days. Read this if you can..... www.searchamelia.com... No matter what you do, you're breaking some sort of law. Things are out of control. You better make sure you're perfect before you cast that first stone!

And the steady anti-US rhetoric goes on.
Get rid of police? That would fit fully with the real conspiracy of anarchists at work in the US.

I am new here but there are people like you on every site

How can you excuse this, are you trying to play a villain for fun, or are you a villain

Edit: what if you are one day disappeared into hidden location

...and exactly where does it say that Pier 40 or 57 will be used to illegally detain American civilians?

In fact, the document you posted states specifically that the site(s) will NOT be used as a secondary arrest and detention center...

but, keep stroking yourself in the wet dream.

...and, the Hudson River Trust is a private entity. How exactly would the big bad NYPD keep the detention of American civilians, in contravention of U.S. law, SECRET?!

Maybe they've conspired with the Sanitation Dept. with whom NYPD was required to contract in order to clean up the trash?

What's even more insidious is we have these things glorified in movies and on TV.

If people are to lazy and ignorant to understand what is seen on tv is not how it works in real life then thats on them.

In the end each person is responsible for his or her actions.

This is f*ck'd ...

need evidence now!

If true the perpetrators should by hang & quartered.

Russians are invading and detaining people for real, but hey fall for the bait and switch from known communist sympathizers planting discord.

Wtf?

Russia is not invadeing the usa, infact its not even capable of invading the USA

And last time I checked russia were far far far from communist these days.

What are you? A Throw back from the 50's

But Russians are in Ukraine. Which you must know.

Go see Putin for throwbacks.

Now I may be wrong and my atlas woefully out of date,...

But last time I checked the Ukraine was nowhere near the USA or one of its states

And so like your comment have no relevance to this thread
