Flight attendants killed the animal and the plane, which was carrying members of the Oregon State University basketball team, took off an hour late.

How did they exactly kill the plane??

Scorpions on a plane, big deal..

The new York daily incompetent lazy publishers?? I think so...

That's not what they meant. They meant that flight attendants killed the animal. Then, they mean the plane, which had passengers took off late.

One minute of silence for the murdered plane.........

Also, did the scorpion have a passport?

What do you mean?

I mean they didn't imply the plane was killed. They just didn't feel the need to make another sentence to describe it (probably in the interest of brevity).

See, now, this is why the first semester of Journalism is all about teaching you how to make clear sentences.

I only did a year of Journalism, so that's all I remember.

Calling the OSU student an animal isn't very nice but better safe than sorry i guess. I wonmder how the poor traumatised scorpion is doing.

A serious question is how did it get on there through the x-ray machines. Was it curled up in a purse, hanging on the back of someone's pants? Came in with the food containers? Lots of ways it could have gotten on, but without being seen by "trained" agents frames the issue.

Man I've been on that airline so many times and it's always sucked, at least I've managed to avoid the scorpions this whole time...

The Arizona bark scorpion is the only one you really have to worry about in the US.
They can be fatal for small children or the weak elderly.
Most other scorpions aren't much worse than wasp sting.
I once put on a pair of pants while camping and got stung about an inch from the family jewels.
I still to this day shake my pants out good before putting them on.

I got tagged by a small scorpion on the palm of my hand when I was about 12 or 13 in the northern woods of Alabama.

I was out creekin' with a cousin of mine and slipped going up an embankment. I put my hand down right on top of him trying to catch myself. What kind of luck is that? lol

I remember the pain was slow to come on but the intensity was mind blowing. It felt like I stuck my hand in hot forge. The muscles in my hand just ceased to function.

My step uncle's solution was to rub some Skoal dip on it.

Took about an hour for the pain to fully subside.
