Hello, fellow Atsers.
I was wondering if you could help me figure something out.

My husband adn I moved into a new house about a year ago. These past two days, however, we had 3 instances of something weird.

Stuff is appearing/ switching places.

Yesterday, he was looking for vinegar, and it turns out it was in the fridge, and no, we don't store it there.
I don't like it so I didn't touch it, and he has OCD so he knows he didn't change its place.

Also, I had lost my cellphone charger for about 2 weeks. Yesterday morning I said out loud: "today I'll make sure to find it". And it was in the first place I checked ( and yes, I did search for it in that place many times before)

Today, something even weirder happened. A small piece of cotton was on the kitchen table. Is not that we "lost" it and found it, we have cotton but we don't use it. It was there. It was kinda dirty with dust, as if someone had used it, but none of us let it there. In fact, about half an hour ealier, my husband made breakfast and it wasn't there.

So, what do you think we're dealing with here?
We had some paranormal stuff happened to us when we used to live somewhere else. However, nothing so evident as that happened here before, specially not in 3 days.

Thanks!

That stuff happens to us around here. It's happened in every house I've lived in that was haunted. One time, when my brother and sister in law were getting married, my sister in law's wallet came up missing. We searched all over, moving stuff and everything. My sister checked one place that was searched several times and there it was, right out in the open. It wasn't there before.

Do some google research into house elves & similar creatures. If you truly are into this sort of paranormal thing, there are lots of recommended treats & toys you can leave around the house to distract them from things like phone chargers etc

Think of them like mini santa clauses. They might even return the favors of food & toys in unpredictable ways.

House elves, I'll start researching. If you have further info, post a link, please! Thanks!

a reply to: Lincourtz like anyone you can put something somewhere by accident and convince yourself you didn,t do it and why would you say out loud where your charger is? seems a little weird to me and why would you have cotton if you don,t use it?

everything your saying is making me think your grasping at straws just to try believe something that isn,t even there.

Have you checked out the washing machine?

My one seems to teleport socks.

Now I'm no expert in the paranormal, but it has been a topic I've been interested in my whole life, especially with experiences I've had. When I read your post, my very first thought was "poltergeist". Especially when you mentioned that you've had paranormal stuff before, even though it's not as prominent.

Now lately, the theory regarding poltergeists is not that they're angry/mischievous ghosts, but that they're psychic manifestations of someone living in the home. More often than not, they're from a young female.

So my very first question for you is are you under a lot of stress?? Or anyone else in the household who is??

I'm also curious if the things you've experienced before are similar to what you're experiencing now??

I could be wrong, but that's just the feeling I get when I think about your post. Especially when you mentioned the vinegar, and your husband's OCD, hence why it was found somewhere it really shouldn't belong.

I'm pretty sure I could find some cotton balls in my house, but I never use them so don't know where they are.
But I know they're there.
Why would you own something if you don't use it? That's gotta be the most dysfunctional stance to take I've ever seen.

Yup, this stuff happens and can be paranormal ... obviously you've ruled out the more usual, normal, culprits.

Haunt or elves... same thing ... as in unknown... but there are many experiences of all sorts chronicled through the ages and just as many guesses and psychic glimpses about what they are.

Approaching it like you have invisible roommates usually helps (as long as it isn't some diabolical entity, or something with a bad temper) as in talking to empty rooms... generally acknowledging them and being polite, but don't give it, or them, too much attention, or even deference, as that can go South, too... just like with pets or people with bodies.

So it's either a person without a body who lived there (or is just dropping in), or critters without bodies and who knows what temperaments or intelligence... so if looked at as something not necessarily "spooky" it can be fun and a topic of conversation... maybe you'll even learn something about the huge unseen universe.

I hope you guys can live in peace... edit to add, and if you don;'t have access to a "real" psychic, pay attention to dreams... as it seems a way these things use to communicate.. .from the lore and personal experience.

Get a hidden camera pointing to the table. Put on the table something irresistible, like Jewelry.

There's a book that's online via google books:

Some interesting artwork on the front page.

This.

I've had it happen to me before, they like to play around. I seriously love their sense of humor though.

Well if it's a ghost, so far it seems friendly, just a bit mischievous. It isn't a poltergeist or you'd have furniture being moved around and doors opening and closing and they are not nice!

Odd, just the other day, my friend and I found a coat button that I had missing for weeks in the trunk of her car. When we go shopping we put our bags in there every week and just found it there now. How could we both have missed that week after week? Have had other things disappear and reappear before as well.

It has happened to me. Anyone that knows me knows I live and breath science, so spooky-ness is a real stretch for me, but something is up with it. To rationalize, I think of all the times I could not find something that was right in front of me, and a few seconds later, there it is. Perhaps our minds can block things out for some reason, not sure. We really see in our brains, and we don't understand a great deal of what goes on in there. A paradox, for sure.

I'm under an average amount of stress atm. What We experienced before was similar but way more ghostly (scratches in the walls, stuff moving around, dark people standing in doorways, but that happened in a different house.

Regarding the "why do you own stuf you don't use?"

Come on guys, it's cotton. You need to have stuff in case you get hurt! I don't know where you live, but here you have alcohol and cotton stored just in case something happens in every house.

I joined tonight just to reply to this. Poltergeist in my personal experience do not just relocate things but the more sentient spirits do. I have had many different types of paranormal experiences and even did expelling troublesome spirits from a residence. You can u2u me if you like. Granted I just joined tonight so if it does not have a something apparent I may not notice it.

There are many classification of elves.
Hobgoblins and brownies are often thought to live in houses of people behind walls and under floors, some can be a little mischievous and some helpful.
