I just came out of my bunker

Hi everyone. It has been a while since I posted here last. I started reading ATS in 2001. After reading lots of posts about how the end was definitely going to happen in 2012, I started to prepare. I bought property, dug a very deep hole and built a bunker with room enough for my family and a few friends. I had 5 years of food and medicine, hydroponic gardens, rooms to raise small food animals, illegally downloaded music, movies and porn, and powered it with hydro power from a nearby river. On December 20th 2012, I sealed myself and my family in the bunker I had been building for the last decade to protect us from the end of the world. I figured 5 years should be enough for the danger to pass. Low and behold, last week there was a loud banging at the door. It turns out some kids found the entrance and was trying to get in. When we saw sunlight for the first time in years, we all realized that the world didn't end. So, what was it like on these forums. Was there a mass flaming at the folks who vehemently prophesied the end of the world? Did folks just sheepishly admit they were wrong? did they keep it up and move the dates back? How did total fools like myself react when the world kept spinning? Tell me so I can empathize with my idiot neckbeard having apocalyptic brethren?

I have also been fooled OP. I have decided to put my energy and thought in better places other than survival. Many people can not be a little in and a little out they have to be all in. If you are this type of person prepping might not be for you.

Very interesting thread. I can't tell how serious this post is so I have some questions to get a better idea.

How many grades, and which grades did your children miss of their schooling? Did you homeschool them?

What about paying taxes - are tax agencies going to be finding and fining you for back taxes that are due?

Why didn't you keep tabs on the outside world - why throw away 3 years being couped up in a bunker if you had power and could've seen what was going on out there?

What did you use to convert the energy from the nearby river? - I'm sure the EPA would want to make sure all the rules and regulations were followed (joking, but they wouldn't miss the chance to slap a bunch of debt on for your innovative idea I'm sure)


Sorry for the interrogatory nature of these questions, it just seems to defy logic that someone would invest all this planning into a bunker when there was no sign of imminent danger to tell you "now's the time to lock up and lay low". Thanks for sharing. a reply to: JohnWorfin

Someone should write a romantic comedy about your plight. They could then make it into a movie and cast, I don't know, maybe Brendan Fraser, Alicia Silverstone and Christopher Walken to play you and your family.
