Notice how stupid that title sounds? Thats the same way anyone with logic feels, when you tell them they'll burn in hell for not believing your religion.

Nice idea, but the analogy is all wrong.

People don't go to hell for not believing in Jesus.
They go to hell because the only way to NOT go to hell IS Jesus.

A (poor) analogy would be this:
that you, in the middle of the ocean following a shipwreck, turn down the rescue helicopter, saying "thanks, but I'm good."
The means for your salvation has already been achieved. Whether you keep floating in the ocean or not... that's up to you.

Haha, gotta give you credit... ya got me and I laughed.

Not religious here but always curious about the surrounding issues so I clicked on your thread.

And yeah, the only logical voice is the one inside your head. Not "yours" literally but everyone's. Religious or not. An unwinnable debate.

I'm of the mind, believe what you want and if you're going to share don't get your knickers in a knot.

And see from my atheist perspective this sounds ridiculous. Because if your going to grab some Jesus in case of accident, you might want to hedge your bets and stock up on some Buddha, Shiva, Zeus, Erzulie and maybe a pack of Manitou.

See ya in hell, op

Great grab of he title.
I tend to stay the hell away from religious threads.

I'm certainly no religious scholar.

But I was told this. ( as I'm agnostic )

If the water runs red... trust in him and drink it.
His last act will to be.. save the souls that call to him in hell....

Basically... I don't understand it.
Jesus is to be ALL FORGIVING. Even if I mess up. I will be forgiven...
So saying I'm going to hell is a lie.... I think

That doesn't mean you do not need to ask for that forgiveness.

olympic level mental gymnastics.

both statements point to the same thing. People go to hell for not believing in Jesus.

Religion doesn't make sense anyway. The basic idea it tries to get across is: Be good to each other. Don't kill your neighbor, don't sleep with his wife and be kind to everyone, right? So, if I do all that, if I am just as good as the religious person, but don't believe in God, I burn for eternity.
Huh?

A lost soul is a lost soul, living or dead. Faith is a powerful force here and now, regardless what that faith is. If a group of religious believers have faith in a hell, then they may very well find themselves in that hell at some point.

To those how think that have it all figured out without the help of a higher force to have faith in, tell me about the paradise on Earth that man has made for himself, or better yet, what have they done personally to make anything better for mankind or the world at large?

I find most people fall short of basic truths and can only be relied upon for their own self interests. If humans are the be all and end all of our reality, at least faith can have a target to aim for other than the selfish personal gratification of 99.99 % of humanity. Humans are flawed at a basic level for a number of reasons and are at the whims of a world they want desperately to have control over.

Personally I believe in this reality I find myself in and because I believe in cause and effect, then I have to believe there is a cause. Since I'm a part of the universe and neither created myself or the universe I'm in, then I believe there is something else, something greater, that caused reality. As a puny mortal in a reality I had no say in, I have at least enough sense to realize I'm not so great or important to have all the answers or that I can even come close to that knowledge. That is where faith comes into the picture.

It seems to me that atheists have a god complex to spite their disbelief in a god, or worse, they believe that they are that god themselves. IMO, I'd call this having faith in mankind or faith that there is no God.

How do YOU know, Mr Stirling? Been there have you?... NOT!

You know as much as any of us about what follows death and that is...ZILCH!

Also, if anyone actually bothered to read Christian Scripture they might understand that the Bible nowhere says we will got to Heaven when we pop our clogs. Gehenna, the burning rubbish tip is a "METAPHOR". Daniel wrote that we will all be raised on the last day,

"But at that time your people—everyone whose name is found written in the book—will be delivered. 2 Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt."

Truth is none of us know, other than what we have been told by religious Teachers. So stop pretending you know because I know that none of you really know.

Hope you enjoyed this latest laugh at Christian expense. I assure you it looks most silly from where I am standing and must admit I get a chuckle or two out of it reading the comments because you know nothing about what you are talking when you slander things and pretend to know things I know you don't have a clue about.

This is not just directed at you, Stirling, but to all those who ridicule what they can not understand.

The thread title is clickbait.

Hell? The first chapter of the book of Genesis states that God made the heavens and the earth. Wait...what about Hell? Nope, sorry, it does not say that God made Hell then, or even later. Folks, that is your first clue, and my ongoing research indicates that Hell was invented by the imagination of man, not God.

They are right and very wrong. The defintion of the word “hell” which is translated from the Greek word Hades is not a place of endless punishment.Hades (and the Hebrew word sheol) mean the grave..the realm of death and imperception.

So the undeniable fact is everyone will be going to Hades when they die. However that Hades has absolutely zero to do with the Christian doctrine of the endless punishment of hell.

The doctrine of hells sole purpose is to constrain those that wouldn’t not naturally act moral and ethically but need to be compelled. Unfortunately they are the same ones that preach it.The downside for them is they will submit to the 2nd death in the lake of fire(also neither hell or hades) where their religious carnal mind(satan..the adversary) will be destroyed.

Hell is eternal separation from God.

We are all going to stand in His presence and know Him for a brief bit at the end. We will all be judged. Those who accept that we did wrong and repent, accept Christ and the forgiveness He represents and offers, can be reconciled to God. Those who refuse to repent and accept that they were sinners that what they did in life was wrong. They refuse basically to be humbled before Him, will be cast aside and separated from Him.

I think that whether we know it or not, believe it or not, we are all connected to God now and live our lives with that hope. To go to Hell is lose that utterly and be destroyed.

I wont tell you that you're going to Hell. Lets just say that you will not be enjoying heaven unless you believe that Jesus died for your sins. Simple logic dictates that a disembodied soul has to go somewhere.

so what about the 6 million jews who died in the holocaust? you know they dont accept jesus so what happens to them? christianity is a barbaric religion because it condemns to hell even good people who were victims of evil simply because they dont accept jesus.

But one christian told me here that a person can be saved even if they dont accept jesus.

If the title sounds stupid to you then you should take it as a wake up call.

Your spirit is crying out to save it.

Turn to Jesus. He is the way.
