Wow what a surprise. ..ats is against the monarchy. ...
Means nothing the majority of us British actually want Them.
So put that in your pipe.

They dont!! I survey many frioends from all backgrounds and status and 60% are in favour of abolishment. So the ATS poll stands up and funnily enough at the same %.

The people of the UK dont want these parasites anymore!

You survey your friends? And that makes it a scientific test? As you are making your feeling on the subject very clear it stands to reason your friends would have a similar point of view, or would say what they knew you wanted to hear unless they had a very clear stance themselves.

I hope you aren't double counting posts from the same posters in your 'poll', I make it the majority posting in this thread that have identified themselves as being in the UK are saying they would rather keep the monarchy than lose it.

Rubbish. And you can count then. I surveyed friends, business acquaintances over dinner, professionals I have worked with, family members, poor and rich alike and 6 out of 10 want the monarchy abolished. just like the ATS poll. I would not trust polls that are fed through or from the media. Even when I was working student the topic came up and the class/room vote came out 50/50 and that was a long time ago.

Thread Ended!! Thanks to all that contributed. Vote came out at approx. 60% in favour.

No, I wouldn't trust a vote where the person who solicited it, made their own views very clear and made it open to an audience that have (and no disrespect here) no direct knowledge of what it was actually based on. I think what you have wanted to do is vindicate your own opinion, nothing more, nothing less.

My views only made clear after the vote!!!!!!!!!!!

Dont insult the intelligence of other ATSer's who have placed their vote and kindly made their comments!

People are not stupid nor blind like you!!

Good day.

Thread already ended anyway!!!

Urm, it's usually mods who close threads, and to end your own with insults is rather bad form.
Have a cup of tea fella, it can help calm those negative emotions.

Wow, amazing, so even now you have edited your own OP, you stated from the off that your vote is yes.

You voted Yes in your OP and have continued to post your comments about how important you are and your social circle throughout this thread.... I'm not sure what letters you really have after your name are, but I think I could easily take a guess at what most of the people who know you think they should be.

As grainofsand says, mods close threads and your insulting manner shows what your own opinion is worth.

As a Canadian I say : YES!!!!

The number of disappearing native American children following their visits, the number of millions it costs us every time they come to visit and the number of reasons to defy blood-rights in an evolved society are more than enough to justify my answer...oh and the rampant peadophilia is just another drop in the already overflowing cup.

In fact, I'm surprised to the number of people posting here that want to keep them.

The disappearing native American children thing is a known hoax, I'm amazed people take that in without even checking the dates involved, but then hey, if it works for you to be uneducated then please don't feel that you should in any way change.

To the question: should it be abolished? Yep. No person by birth is better than any other and Royals, by their long history of inbreeding, are actually genetically inferior to us regular old mutts.

Do I honestly care? Nope. It's the UK's business, not mine. The two young princes seem like decent guys and I don't bear them any ill will. Their father's generation, OTOH, seem nuttier than fruitcakes. I assume that Diana brought some new DNA into the fold.

There may be more new DNA in Harry's case than Wills.

Why ?

I thought the real power of the British monarchy was already transferred to the parliament.

Thought the Queen was just more symbolic than anything these days.

Oh we have our own monarchy.

We just like to call it something else.

Regardless of how many "letters you have after your name" (quite what that has to do with the price of fish is beyond me, apart from just trying to big yourself up), you do need to extract your head out of your arse and just acknowledge that neither ATS not your "wide and inclusive" circle of friends is not in anyway indicative of society at large.

I voted yes but did not express any thoughts until the vote was clear!!!
You are obviously a small minded and of low intelligence. But that's no crime.
You don't know who I am or what people who know me think of me but I do know one thing and that is that I'm not a blind fool like you! And my popularity doesn't appear to have declined over the last 30 years and I always continue to receive invitations and requests to speak.
And as far as whats after my name is concerned its well earned and well deserved and I'm sure beyond your mental capacity to achieve!
I said the thread was ended because it started to get posters like you which we can all do without!
Thankyou and good day to you.

What's with the personal insults?

"Small minded and of low intelligence" - that's just bloody rude and arrogant.

Thankyou for that confirmation.
You are correct. Bad form indeed.
But sometimes you have individuals who just want to spoil what was a perfectly good and interesting thread.
Thanks for the kind advice on the cup of tea.
Most appreciated.
Hope you at least found the thread interesting and not threatening in any way to your misguided beliefs, should you have any that is! Some posters feel threatened when their belief systems are questioned by the votes and comments of others.
Thankyou

"Mods, please close this thread so that people who disagree with me are silenced", you mean?

If that's what is like to live in your "republic", I'll stick with the Monarchy!

Certainly, you seem to have beef with them - I posted earlier on this seems to be a theme for you. What benefits are there to changing? Why do you have such a desire to?

I almost wish I hadn't gone to the pub and had stayed in and posted a response earlier.

As I'm sure a man of your intellect and learning knows this can hardly be described as a truly scientific poll with the results published with a high confidence level.

It was, and still is, an interesting and informative thread and I'd still be interested in finding out the percentage levels of British members alone.
No disrespect at all intended to the non-Brits who've posted - many interesting perspectives given - but they are not really relevant. Good to get a Canadian take on things, but again, it can't in any way shape or form be taken as representative of the national view with any degree of acceptable confidence.
With the non-Brit opinions taken into consideration the outcome is skewed out of all proportion and even a person with a limited understanding of statistics wouldn't begin to take it as anywhere near being representative.

As for the insults and name calling - hilarious, how can anyone take these things so seriously?

I'd be disappointed if Mods and Admin did close this thread - surely that would be against everything this website stands for.

I for one was under the impression one of the main reasons most of us came here was to discuss, debate and exchange ideas and opinions?
I think it'd be pretty crap if we all agreed with each other most of the time.
