I'm a huge boxing fan, (glad to see Wilder win last night), so obviously I'm a massive Ali fan, however I've always found Joe Louis to be a slight step above in terms of accomplishments for race.
For those who don't know Joe Louis was the second ever African American boxing champion. Once he became champ he refused to be called such until he beat Max Schmelling, the only man to have ever beaten Louis before. In 1938 the rematch was set to take place. This wasn't an ordinary boxing match though as Max was German. The Nazi's touted that a black man could never beat a white man and that Schmelling would use his money from the fight to build German tanks. It was a fight on the grandest of stages. Not just about boxing but about race and politics. FDR even called Louis to the White House and said "Joe we need muscles like yours to beat Germany". Louis ended up getting a ko in the first round. He became a hero to whites for proving the superiority of democracy and America over Nazis and facism. To blacks he proved that all men were created equal. A sports writer wrote one of the greatest quotes ever about Louis - "Joe Louis is a credit to his race - the human race."
This is a weird thread asking a strange question.

What the? Of course a white man can love a black man. A black man can love a white man. All races intermix, love knows no bounds. I'm not a fan of Muhammed Ali. I prefer Tyson
Cold, brutal, ferocious, comical. Tyson

the question should really be is it possible for black folks to love white folks,
In the OP, I could only ask the questions from my perspective of a white man.
A solid post IMO.

I'm white, my 19 year old daughter is dating a black man her age. They kept their dating secret from me for a few months. Not sure why. I'm not a racist. But I am a fiercely protective father.
Thing is, this young man is hard working, going to college, very intelligent, has a bright future, and I am seeing all of the qualities I would like to see in a son-in-law.
I'm not seeing any issue with race at all... What does that make me?
True story.
