Didn't need to, the title alone was sort of a give away.

May be some truth to the saying, "Republicans don't understand satire".

When was the last time a car owner made an apology for bad drivers?

This statement makes no sense, IMO. I have a firearm, and I have never shot anyone.
I have a motor vehicle, and I've never run anyone over, or driven through a building....
I have some really nice knives, and the only person I've ever cut with them is my own clumsy self.

Killing people is very much against the law around here- and the law has unlimited time and resource to hunt you down.
If you're going to get away with it, using a firearm is the worst way to go about it.

How about this- as a computer owner with internet access, I would like to make a public apology on the behalf of other computer owners, and the dumb # they post on the internet. My bad- even though I have no control over what they buy and what they do, I feel compelled to stand up, apologize, and condemn their actions!

False. What gun owner group have your heard urging people tp commit crimes against others.... Yet there are Imams calling for terror.
Gun owner advocate groups do plenty of safety training, gun lock giveaways and they push for tougher legislation against crime.

Ahhhh, so very clever now aren't we??

Except that guns are not an ideology. Guns do not get into your brain and make you want to kill people. The book of Gun does not demand people gather on certain days to worship the gun, nor pray 5 times a day to the spirit of the gun.

A parallel to be drawn there is not -Yoda

One is a belief system, a religion.

The other is a tool.

True.

He explicitly adressed "Gun owners and advocates of the second amendment" though... who are a vast group of people. That is the point.

(arrrgh... not sure if "which" or "who" or "whom" is correct english here. sorry!)

True. But, in order for the comparison to work, he would have needed to show that all those that go out on a shooting spree are not only gun owners (some aren't....weapons are stolen....hard to steal a religion) or were 2nd right activist.

Maybe a better comparison would have been: People who suffer from mental illness.

Many of those who do go on shooting sprees, killing people, suffer from mental illness....but not everyone who suffers from mental illness are apt to go out and start killing people.

No one in the NRA is advocating the deaths of those who do not support owning a gun.

There are those religious leaders however that DO advocate killing people who are not of their religion, or do not follow it.

There are plenty of killers who claimed that "the voices in their heads" told them to kill people.

I just do not think it was a good comparison is all. I DO understand the message that Nef was trying to put out however.

But...guns are an ideology.

Not everyone has them. People chose to have them because of their ideals do they not?

All these gun owners should be rounded up and sent to a place here they can shoot each other based on their own beliefs...

I agree that gun advocates could do more, but at the same time I doubt there is a single gun advocate who would not say that Sandy hook was a deplorable act.

In fact there are probably quite a few anti-violence groups who also happen to support the second amendment because they belief the best way to combat gun crime is for everyone to have the right to own a gun and defend themselves.

Guns are physical objects.

You just called them an ideology.
Ideology is not an object.

I would look it up for you, but the means for that are at your fingertips.

No, sorry.

I own guns, but not because it's an ideaology or belief.

It's a tool that I need. I live way out in the country. I have had wild dogs show up on my property threatening my family.

Bang. No more wild pit bull growling and chasing my son.

Call the cops? Call animal control?

Do you have any idea of how long the response time is because of how far away from the city I live?

30 to 45 minutes.

I've had to take out pit vipers too that have gone after my chickens.

Again: it's a tool. Not an ideal.

Of course I did.

The same arguments you make there are being made about other things elsewhere...yet people choose to dismiss them.

Shameful.

Silly attempt at trying to take apart the analogy....

The belief that people have a right to bear arms is an ideology.

ideology

1.the body of doctrine, myth, belief, etc., that guides an individual, social movement, institution, class, or large group.
2. such a body of doctrine, myth, etc., with reference to some political and social plan, as that of fascism, along with the devices for putting it into operation.

Guns themselves are not a ideology they are just objects, they have no more ideology to them than a pencil does.

There is however a ideology that advocates the ownership of guns, the two are not the same.

Gee you really hate the Bill of Rights don't you???

You clearly have zero understanding of what a free society is, and is based on.

You don't by chance perhaps live in one of the various nanny-states that already exist do you?

Yea so Gun Control...... It clearly stopped 4 French Jihadi's from getting hold of AK47's now didn't it????

Oh, that feeling was a bucket of fresh cold reality splashing you in the face
