I think almost any sane person would agree that there is a marked difference between a Muslim and a terrorist.

I just read a thread that I won't link that irritated me, and want to say a few things.

If you have a problem with free speech, don't come to a Western country that embraces it. Stay in your country. If you grow up in a Western country, and have a problem with free speech, move to a country that embraces hanging journalists and pray 5 times a day that your daughter won't get raped because she's not Muslim enough, and then stoned to death for getting raped. Move to a place where women can't drive. Move to a place where people are killed for witchcraft. Have fun tiptoeing around and always saying the right thing because there are so many factions that will kill you for any perceived slight.

Of course there are good, kind, wonderful Muslims in the world. I'm not going to guess at the percentage. All I know is that predominately Muslim countries act like they're in the stone age regarding human rights, and that there are far too many transplants into Western society that would like to see that kind of filth take over the world. If you hate the country you live in, MOVE. Just move. Western countries should happily buy tickets on the condition these people don't return.

Why the mass exodus from Muslim countries? Why come to the US? Or France? Or UK? If things are so good in Muslim countries that rule by religious law (that you support), why come to our countries and expect us to change, and placate to your beliefs?

This thread on Reddit paints a very good picture and I hope everyone saves it.

The creepy PC conditioning is getting to me. This isn't hate speech. It's real speech. It needs to be addressed. I have no problem calling a Muslim my brother, unless he is incapable of recognizing Islam is a HUGE problem at the moment.

I starred on the first line.
The Muslims I know seem to be good people.
I can see in their eyes that they are concerned with the defamation of their image.
If the war against Muslim extremism is to be snuffed, it should be done by Muslims.

There are so many wonderful Muslims!

That doesn't mean there isn't a big problem. Islam hasn't grown up with the rest of the world.

How about we cut the BS and admit that the war on extremism is manufacturing consent. Whether intentionally or not, OUR lives are changing NOT the extremists.

The problem is much of the cultural traits you are talking about has nothing really to do with islam itself. Is middle eastern culture in general. That's the middle east, not Islam.

That's the way I look at it.

They're just a little late at getting with the program.

Didn't Christianity go through it's growing and learning years?

No, that's Sharia law, not middle eastern culture. It is completely related to Islam.

ETA: some of the stats at your link were shocking DOMO.

83% of Pakistanis support stoning adulterers 78% of Pakistanis support killing apostates
40% of British Muslims want Sharia in the UK
68% of British Muslims support the arrest and prosecution of anyone who insults Islam

It goes on and on and on.

The following is my opinion as a member participating in this discussion.

The problem is that if you remain in a group that does this stuff, you are quietly expressing your support for them. If the majority didn't accept these things as being supported by the religion, then the 'radicals' would be run out of the religion on a rail. I certainly would not remain in a religion that did things I didn't believe in, and no one I know would either. If I did believe in the tenets of the religion, but not in the members activities or interpretations, I would at the very least get with others who felt the same way, and start my own sect of the religion.

Quietly sitting and allowing these things to happen, and remaining in the religion, speaks volumes about the supposed 'non-radical's' real feelings regarding the 'radicals' activities.

As an ATS Staff Member, I will not moderate in threads such as this where I have participated as a member.

Christianity certainly has come a long way. I'm waiting for people to try and deflect what I've said by saying other religions have bad apples too.

Of course other religions have bad apples. Christians don't have entire countries devoted to the Bible, and even if you call a certain country Christian, they aren't going to stone you to death for getting raped.

I hear about Christian extremists and Jewish extremists, and I laugh. I don't remember the last time a group of militant Christian extremists killed 2,000 people.

Muslim extremists are a huge problem in the world. It needs to be dealt with. It needs to be said. You can trot out all the wonderful quotes you want, but the problem remains. Islamic countries are horrible, and some of the horribleness is seeping into Western countries.

It is certainly not all Muslims, but pretending it's not Muslims is getting us hurt. The PC nonsense has to go.

Quite a few Americans who arent muslim dont like whats happening in thier country. Your suggestion that those who dont like it should leave I disagree with. I think those who are screwing the country up with racism, greedy evil materialism, corperate greed, police state style existance, dumbing down the masses media, us vs them mentality, weapons of mass destruction, warmongers, and crazed fundamentalist beliefs need to get out. Let the peaceful live in peace.

Why does Christianity always have to come up as some excuse to condone these radicals actions?
For starters, Christianity didn't all do this crap people claim it did, only Roman Catholicism.

A little late? Hundreds of years is not a little anything in the human ecperience.

The crusades were very long ago....very very long ago, the inqusition as well, and the salem witch trials.

The muslim world is stuck in the time after saladin died, they have not taken a cultural step since then, all inovation has come from the east and west.

They were at one time the pinacle of human endeavour, the seat of great thinkers, the ones innovating in the name of science and human advancement.

Wtf happened to them?

Do they stone the rape victim to death?

I suppose the Vatican is technically a country, so you've got me there.

I knew I missed one.

Grown up? The world as we know it is teetering on the edge of it's own destruction because of rampant greed and incurable stupidity. You can take Islam out of the equation entirely and there would undoubtedly be some other manufactured "threat" manipulating us down the same path to global despotism.

Don't try this at home, kids...
