They are the lead agency in the operation in progress. Raid is in support.

From the feed of Le Figaro:

The authorities confirmed on the spot that the two kidnappers were with a "near certainty", the two brothers Kouachi. "We can not confirm at this time there is a hostage. The teams will try to make contact, the priority is to establish a dialogue "with the hostage takers. "It may take time, several hours."

He cited former French Interior Minister and current Prime Minister Manuel Valls as saying in 2013, “I cannot as a minister of interior prevent the French jihadists from going to Syria to fulfill their jihad.”

“The French Minister of Foreign Affairs [Laurent] Fabius said something worse in 2012. He said that the Islamist jihadists are doing well in Syria,” according to the Syrian official.

“Now they call them terrorists because today they are killing French people. But when they used to kill Syrian people, they were considered jihadist.”

Following these live feeds is strange because the news is all raw, unsorted stuff, so it is not clear if completely unrelated events are being mixed into the narrative of the main story. That being said, the Figaro feed is now reporting that a shootout has erupted in a kosher deli in Paris.

A shootout erupted Friday at 13 hours, Porte de Vincennes in Paris in a Kosher deli, said AFP. Responsible of the Left Party, Raquel Garrido, testified on Twitter: "Panic at Porte de Vincennes. Policemen in bulletproof vests evacuate everybody. Operation in progress..."

Apparently the gunman was wielding two Kalashnikovs and has taken hostages. There is some speculation that the perpetrator is the same person who shot the policewoman yesterday at Montrouge, since that person fled without being caught.

It is reported that there are around one hundred heavily armed police at the site.

These events beg the question. "Are we witnessing a "sea change" here? Are the jihadis bringing their war to our streets now, as the IRA did in London in the 70s? Beirut used to be called the Paris of the Middle East.

Is Paris now going to be called the Beirut of the West?"

From the feed of Le Figaro:

There are at least five hostages in the kosher grocery attacked Porte de Vincennes, according to a police source contacted by The Figaro.fr, indicating that the hostage taker is the person sought in the killing of Montrouge. "It is extremely dangerous," says the same source. "He has two assault rifles."

Addressing the officers who surrounded him, he said: "You know very well who I am."

Freedom of speech is not absolute. I believe a religion must be respected.
Ridiculing the Prophet hurts too much Muslims. Their response is disgusting but it is a fact that too many Muslims in the depths of their hearts are hurt by such matters. Charlie Hebdo should better stand up for Muslims women rights. Many Muslims will agree. Especially women of course.
By the way I have my own religion ... it’s a conspiracy theory. www.evawaseerst.be...

Then they should exercise their freedom not to read Charlie Hebdo. So long as they are free to practice their religion, others will have the freedom to criticize it. That is how a civilized society must work if it is to avoid tyranny.

From the feed of Le Figaro:

Four hostages died in the hostage-taking of Vincennes according to a police source. Two policemen were injured and the premises of the grocery store where the tragedy took place were (booby?) trapped.

The hostage taker would have (booby?) trapped the store and the results are only provisional, according to Reuters.

Doubts remain about the presence of a second hostage taker.

A woman named Hayat Boumedienne was an associate of the kosher deli perpetrator.

www.lefigaro.fr...

The two suspects in the bombing of Charlie Hebdo were released Friday by firing a Kalashnikov on the security forces, causing them to "neutralize", learned AFP source close to the matter. The two suspects killed in the assault, armed with Kalashnikovs, were out "by shooting the police, sparking immediate neutralization," the source said, adding that "the GIGN gendarme was slightly injured. ""The hostage, a man of 26, who had holed up since early in parts of the business, is free," she added.

That's an easy one.

I can draw any filthy image of your prophet I like and publicly display it.

You do have the right to respond either in kind, with litigation or in protest.

You don't have the right to go mental and kill me for it.

Period..!!

But, who gives me my rights?

Where do my rights come from?

Unless we all agree on what is meant by "free speech". Each has their own.

Now, what we could do, is write a document called "Declaration of Freedom of Expression".

In that document we tell people what actions are allowed and what actions are not.

So that each person isn't allowed to have their own personal idea of free speech.

Then we all adhere to the very same document.

But, that's exactly what each religion does. Each religion tells its followers what actions
are allowed and what are not.

So, in effect, our "Declaration of Freedom of Expression" will become our Bible, our Koran,
our Talmud, Our Vedas, etc..We can create a "new religion" that everybody is converted to,
and then we'd all understand the same thing when we say "free speech".

But as long as we want different beliefs to coexist, we each have to be aware and careful
not to deliberately offend the other person's different beliefs.

According to the Twitter feed from Le Monde a hostage has now been taken in Montpellier in the south of France during a robbery that went wrong.

Late Friday afternoon, a robbery goes wrong in a jewelry store in the heart of Montpellier. A hostage and two criminals are identified by the police in the store.

Many customers refugees in stores are being successively removed

The armed police were deployed and block all access to the street from the Lodge, one of the busiest in the heart of town. Ditto for the area of the Place Jean Jaurès. Many customers refugees in stores are being successively evacuated, cluster, under police protection. It does not appear that there are injured or that shots were fired.

I'm not sure if we know yet whether hostages were killed at Dammartin-en-Goele. There was someone hiding in the building that the Kouachi brothers were not aware of. He thought they had killed everyone, according to a "text" he sent to his father. He was hidden so he told his father to tell the police to "intervene".

From the feed of Le Figaro:

According to our reporter on site Edouard de Mareschal, Dammartin two assailants did not know that a man was hiding in the building they had invested.

Family Lilian, the graphic designer of 27 years, tried to attach between 9am and 11am, in vain. His father, very distressed, finally received a text from his son saying: "I hid the first floor I think they killed everyone Tell the police to intervene..."

According to BFM-TV, the man was hidden in a box and gave valuable information to the security forces.

Apparently, according to the feed from Le Monde, the female associate of the kosher deli perp, Hayat Boumedienne, was not at that location during the attack. The police have put out a call for help in locating her.

She is seen here with Amédy Coulibaly, the kosher deli attacker.
