Wouldn't surprise me if upon further examination they found pieces of said equipment lodged in odd areas of his anatomy.

Even more suspicious in 2011 while jogging he dislocated his shoulder causing a bump on his head and a black eye. Really? I'm sure they meant to say hip.

He's lucky that his "accident" didn't happen during the Clinton admin.-he wouldn't have survived it.

The Clinton admin. had a hell of a body count.(oops I mean "accidents" and "suicides")

I had considered maybe a treadmill accident, but I couldn't come up with any scenario where the treadmill breaks to cause those kinds of injuries.

Harry is not a spring chicken, so I don't think he could achieve much if any high speeds on a treadmill.

I would not necessarily advocate that either, it just seems like so much poetic justice by elements unknown or maybe he was just clumsy and everything is speculation anyway, none of us were there. Personally, I would like to see "leaders" independently investigated, tried if involved in criminal or treasonous activity and of course sentenced, we are civilized after all ;-)

But you also have to remember that ole Harry created a real publicity mess, not just for himself, possibly the entire state. At the same time helping to destroy what little credibility the government had left, which was almost nothing.

So would it look good on him, shooting himself in the foot? I'd say hell yeah.

Haven't bowflex machines been known to break & cause these kinds of injuries? I remember them making the news a few times for people sustaining nearly identical injuries in the past.

Hillary Clinton had a little accident too.

The timing is always a question.

But I do hope he makes it back to Washington so he can continue to make a fool of himself.

Further investigation is necessary.

(A) Politicians don't get beat up, they get blackmailed. Just the rules of the jungle.

(B) If he was beat up, I would think he would come up with a story that had less slap-stick comedy value..

As the senator fell, Jentleson said, Reid struck part of the equipment and broke several bones near his right eye. Reid then hit the floor and broke his ribs.

Yes...I am one of those people that struggles not to laugh in these scenarios. I know it's not funny, but picturing a giant rubber-band snapping and slapping him in the face and knocking him to the ground...I can't help it.

Maybe somebody watched the movie "Casino" and got mad.

Reid was the Gaming Commissioner that denied Frank Rosenthal a gaming license.

The movie was based on true events and real people.

Dick Smothers' character, Senator, is partly based on Nevada Senator Harry Reid, who was chairman of the Nevada Gaming Commission. The scene in which Sam Rothstein is denied a license by the Nevada Gaming Commission is based on a December 1978 hearing when Harry Reid was the commission's chairman; some of Reid's statements are used in Smothers' dialogue. The scene was shot in an actual courtroom in the Clark County Courthouse, which was later closed in 2005.
