that's got to be embarrassing; cops encouraging crime.

the whole thing (protests) seems like a set up but a gamble many are willing to take for some odd reason. considering that nothing at all is going to come from it.

sort of like Mike Brown's stepdad...can you imagine how hard its going to be for him to find work in Ferguson after the things that were said and happened?

Other than unsubstantiated claims by activists, how do we know they were "instigating?" How do we know they were "with the crowd?"

How were they "unmasked?" When they arrested someone for a crime, which is something plainclothes cops are known to do?

Honestly,

If I were in a crowd of peaceful protesting, and some yahoo was going apes$%^ screaming or prompting things like "Burn this m34536F$^&%^& down!", especially if it was only one or two of a crowd, and nobody knew them...I'd be suspicious.

And let's face it, wouldn't you be a tad bit suspicious if the one calling for rioting and looting was white? WTF do they have the reason to call for rioting and looting?

Just an observation....

You're suggesting that white people don't have a reason to riot or loot because the protests are about black people?

NO, I'm suggesting it would be unlikely, but not improbable.

Just as much as those of obvious middle eastern backgrounds are questioned at TSA points, it's only likely that a group of folks...probably largely non-caucasian, are going to look upon two white guys with suspicion when they're obviously trying to incite more than what the crowd has the intent to do.

Just a thought.

It's horribly sad, but that is what our society has come to. Cops instigating crime to justify their damned jobs.

Us vs Them

I try to maintain a middle of the road attitude. I know all cops aren't bad. However, s#!t like this is why there are so many people pissed off at anyone in uniform (or not in uniform, as in this case).

This is coercion, plain and simple. But to borrow from Richard Nixon - "it's not coercion when the police do it."

So has info wars…

ETA:

One person tweeted that the under covers were “instigators of looting,” while another said they were “banging on windows.”

That's what they were supposed to be doing a few nights ago only windows were smashed at that time.

This is just shameful behavior by police. Having cops in the crowd is fine for observation but to actually be the ones encouraging looting and violence?

The protests do seem completely useless - what is their aim? I had a thought that if they trotted out the cop who killed Michael Brown, told the crowd "here's your man, do what you want" and just tossed him in the crowd what would happen?
Would he be torn apart limb from limb with people trying to get a finger for a trophy or would they possibly stop and realize what insanity they are partaking in?

Do they think any protest is going to make sweeping change in police behavior and tactics?
Aside from that and lynching the cop who shot Brown what else do they want?

Holding the gun sideways?..
I find it bizarre that a police officer would hold his gun that way, it has No effect to hold your gun that way, and if anything limits the person from using the sights on the gun. Weird. Not so sure

Apparently they were not Oakland PD, but California Highway Patrol on loan.

Multiple witnesses confirm the two undercover officers of attempting to instigate violence and property damage.

Holding the gun sideways?.. Straight up gangster.

He broke a Golden Rule of Firearm safety.(Never point a gun at anything you do not intend to destroy) and he may even have his finger on the trigger(another Golden Rule). That should get him fired but I have serious doubts in the police ability to police their own.

This is why we do not trust the police.

What reason would the protest have to lie?

They straight up busted these two, now apparently CHP officers trying to incite violence in their protest so they called them out and the undies got butthurt so they drew and started making arrests.

The activists have an agenda. Having been a beltway bandit for the better part of a decade, I've seen plenty of activists who make stuff up.

You can't get all excited about unproven allegations from an obviously biased witness or one with an agenda.

It makes it easier to police the expelled rounds on most semi-auto hand guns when one holds it 'gangsta style'.

You can not deny that the officer broke one of the Golden Rules of firearm safety.

That is unsatisfactory.

I also find it bizarre. Makes me wonder if the picture was staged. Anybody know what OPD carries? SFPD issues SIG's and the OPD website mentions Glock model 19's. Neither of which is this gun which looks like a Ruger.

We are not even sure if he is the officer in question nor what is going on behind the camera. The crowd was not "peaceful" they forced their way into a Berkley auditorium.

What? LOL. Nope, nope, nope. What are you doing, catching them in midair? Gangster style is a good way to miss your targets. Those who shoot for a living are trained to use their sights.

I guess they weren't pleased with the progress of the protesters, funny after seeing them start a huge fire you'd think they could adapt to deal with things a little better.

OUTSIDE of dense urban areas it's a suicide attempt, some who know how CAN shoot as well as be COMPLETELY aware of the expended shell. If it accidently flies down your shirt are you a man or a boy?
MEN walk away with irritating memories, BOYS are distracted and killed.

The activists have an agenda.

And the police don't? If multiple eye-witness accounts can be believed, the UCs clearly harbored an agenda that included provoking the protest to violence.

Having been a beltway bandit for the better part of a decade, I've seen plenty of activists who make stuff up.

But the police always tell the truth, right?

You can't get all excited about unproven allegations from an obviously biased witness or one with an agenda.

But I should trust the word of an obviously biased police force with an agenda?

Besides, there are more than one witness. The protest didn't even notice these guys until they started trying to provoke them into looting. THEN and only then did they out them and then and only then did the provocateurs draw their weapons and begin making arrests. Seems fairly obvious to me.

OPD said it was CHP, which carry S&W 4006. Which I would say that weapon bears a strong resemblance to.

It has been confirmed that the undercover officers in the photos are CHP not OPD. You might have known that had you actually read any of the evidence presented herein.
