I think Nancy Pelosi was one, or at least thinks she is.

Obviously she hasn't helped anyone.

Then she turned or never understood it back then. Nancy Pelosi is up on the top of the heap. I doubt she is anti war. Or is she?

YES DUMMY THEY INFILTATED IT VIA EDUCATION. As I stated earlier.
AND THEY ARE INDEED HIPPIES who became YUPPIES, so long as YOU think the TEA party is right wing GOP. I figure its an equal issue.

I don;t care what you all call people nowadays or who group they belong to now.
Back then the "hippies" protested against the warmongers, endless war, the police state and corruption in government. The same crap you all give lip service to on numerous threads on here.

Well, maybe not you.

White students and faculty participated in the walkout/protest but did not participate in the die-in. What's so complicated about this?

Actually:

During the die-in, a large group of black students laid on the ground, although a couple of white students still took part despite organizers’ instructions.

Certainly the attitude referenced in the OP (that suppory for "the cause" is not welcome by some if that support comes from a white person, though it might be accepted if it.comes from other non-white persons) is not shared by all, though there are enough who do hold it to be true that causes probelms for all.

Well, that's one more score for diversity folks! ~$heopleNation

This is bull, while its understandable anyone may be sceptical of trusting the children of their opressors, in every city various ethnic groups work together. Some people are more extreme in their view and process. In alot of these movements I see more whites then blacks and other "minoritys". This distrust has been created by things such as anarchist , acting as supporters that end up vadelizing protest areas and giving protestors a bad name and image and other historical examples.

If you were a hippie you were duped.

I wasn't. Do you like good music, live in peace with your neighbors and protest the endless wars and corrupt government?

Or is that just a front?

Good music has existed for centuries as did peaceful neighborly relations. Also protesting isn't a flower child phenomenon, it's been happening for years.

I could say the same thing for nearly any "label" or "subculture" existing today. Though not all of them were created by people who don't interact with the society they govern, some have just been exploited and others are just plain divisive on their own.

Sometimes a thread can develop a life of it's own (a good thing) and this one has. To come in so late and address the topic, can somehow (so late) seem "off-topic". But I'm going to add my opinion anyway, albeit late.

White people are still the majority in the U.S. In being so, Blacks cannot accomplish what they desperately want to accomplish without our help. I completely understand the request to white protesters "don't put your hands up; don't lie down and play dead in the street". Understood. It belongs to them. Better if they didn't feel that way, but they do, so nothing left for us to do but respect it. (I happen to believe greater numbers have greater impact...).

But to discourage support from whites is a mistake. They need us in this fight, and they can't win it without us. It would be very foolish of them or anybody else to think otherwise. I hope they will give up the "go it alone" mindset.

Equality should mean equality. The worry is always present. Because equality is always an invitation to supremacy, no matter who it is.

Flower children is a media term to make people back then look silly.

They got it from putting flowers in the barrels of rifles during a protest in front of the Pentagon.

"Flower children" is oft misunderstood. Like "tree huggers" it is meant as an insult. Now who's duped?

Hey it fits.

Now exactly what did these barefooting, ex-college, now system fed/fat eccentrics achieve?

They were rebellious and misled.

I don't hate anyone. I just disagree with people who feel rebelling is going through channels created by the system.
