If the layers are sharp enough they will notice that and really start up the amp. Personally I am surprised that the woman has not gotten any death threats, or anything like that yet. If she does, problem solved, she is then, for her own protection, is put into protective custody.

I honestly think, if she did come down with ebola. We'd never hear of it. Her ties to the CDC and government, will make sure of that. They would say she's moved to an unknown location due to animosity from the community.

It would be another case of out of sight, out of mind, like the Duncan family. And, others we no longer hear anything of.

But, she is doing her job now of fostering a false sense of security in the public eye. She'll get her pay for doing that, and urging other people exposed to ebola to follow her idiotic actions.

Des

That wouldn't surprise me a bit. We have Duncan's girlfriend who supposedly never got it and was moved to an undisclosed, isolated place to serve her quarantine. Now that she's out she is moving to another undisclosed private place because her lease at her last place was 'suddenly' up.

What she is doing is showing that she is full of health and will never come down sick,(arrogant and stupid) that means to me that she is pushing an agenda of disregard for public safety while encouraging others that are coming from ebola infected places to do the same thing and it doesn't matter if they are ebola sick, to come down sick or infected.

She is highly an irresponsible health care worker, she doesn't need to have a license to practice either.

I'm sure she knows she'll loose her ability to be a practicing HCW where she lives by doing this...

So that leads me to believe she is being motivated with the knowledge she will be compensated somehow, by someone who is making this worthwhile.

We do know of her CDC connections, so this does raise eyebrows that the government (in some capacity) is involved.

I don't get it.

How hard is it to stay at home for 21 days watching Netflix and eating junk food?

"But it's the principle of the thing!" people scream. "Her civil liberties are being violated!"

Okay, well...

People are scared. By going on bike rides and flaunting yourself all over town you are only making people more scared and fearful. How hard is it to take one for the team, suck it up and just do something for the greater good that would put people at ease.

I fully understand how remote the possibility is that this woman is contagious -- but humor the public, if for no other reason to keep the fear levels down. This whole Ebola thing is already over the top, and having someone riding around on a bike and flaunting a quarantine is only making the situation worse.

Pick your battles wisely, and don't go off half-cocked. This isn't the right battle to be fighting for civil liberties or personal freedom rights. Its a selfish expression, and simply ramping up paranoia and fear -- the likes of which are already to high considering the actual facts.

Stock up on some Game of Thrones DVDs, read some books. Take some hot baths and take up needle point. A few weeks stuck at home in a 1st world country is a cake walk.

I wonder how many people are going to dress up as Kaci Hickox for Halloween? (oh Lordy)

I think that should she lose her ability to practice here in the US, that'll be another huge public outcry and lawsuit for her to pursue. She's got it all planned out, it seems.

1: Cry about NJ's mandatory quarantine
2: Get released, cry when NY doesn't want her. Now the media train is a roarin'
3: Go home to Maine, where she's told she needs to stay home and self monitor. Cry about that, threaten lawsuit, leave home on a bicycle smiling for the cameras at her blatant disregard for public safety
4: Get ostracized by the medical community, unable to get a job anywhere
5: Sue for discrimination or some other trumped up crap
6: ????
7: PROFIT

Exactly ... then she can further play the victim and be in the news getting her attention ... and because she's playing up exactly the position that the White House wants she'll probably get some kind of political payoff job ...

Good point. Should a nurse who wilfully and defiantly disregards a public health mandate such as quarantine issued by their state board of health be allowed to maintain their license?

Your avatar freaks me out. I think I'm going to have nightmares.

Anyway -- agreed. I think it kind of goes against the creedo of a nurse to willfully disobey a public health mandate. I don't think even if she kept her license anyone would hire her. I'm betting she doesn't have to many fans in her own profession right about now...

I say she should lose her license, encouraging the disregard of public safety because she have a money making agenda should be considered against the oath as a medical health care worker.

What she is promoting is for others to do the same, but what she is forgetting in her ideology of money making is that no everybody coming from infected regions of ebola can be as lucky as her, if she is not sick, like she is flaunting for the cameras.

I like Kosmic's avatar. Creepy yet beautiful.

Then again, I also like Yandere.

On topic: This story with the this nurse is going to drag out for a long, long time. As more states have mandatory quarantine orders on their dockets, the issue will only become a veritable media circus. I sincerely hope that this particular nurse is the only one with the lack of brains and wherewithal to do something so obviously stupid like this. But then again, we are talking about the (Sue)nited States of America

I agree completely.
This whole situation doesn't add up.
She didn't go bike riding without getting legal advice. Everything she does is orchestrated. Most telling is the cocky behavior about her great health, as if she knows there is zero chance she will get Ebola. I don't know what she has stated about her sojourn in W. Africa, but her very behavior casts doubt on anything she's selling about herself. What is her real goal? To "endure" 21 days of isolation (yet she's never alone due to the Media attention she herself stirred up) and then wave her Get Out of Ebola Jail Free card and start the legal engines, suing everyone who inconvenienced her, everyone who dared call her out or even question her motives. Maybe, just maybe, she's got another agenda. The bike ride was a set up, as are the social media photo ops and MSM interviews.

Does she have an agenda? Maybe several agendas? Who stands to benefit from the Media circus that she created? She is clearly smug about her health--that's a red flag. She doesn't seem to care about her career--another flag.

I can't help but think of an Enneagram #3, "The Achiever" and "The Performer." This psychological tool has been used by the FBI, psychologists, and authors. #3s exude confidence; they're successful, popular, outgoing. Like all Enneagram types, 3s have positives and negatives. One positive--they're natural leaders. But when 3s are maladjusted, they're more like the leader of the Winged Monkeys. Bosses love 3s--until their job is threatened. 3s work hard--not to make a difference but to get kudos and career advancement. They believe in their incredible star power. Secretly, they believe they are smarter and superior to everyone, even other 3s.
3s do what is necessary to achieve their goals and will not stop until they are satisfied. The cost doesn't matter. That's why they eventually lose touch with their emotional core.

Just speaking in general terms, but an ambitious, relentless 3 would be helping herself by helping big organizations. A 3 with a giant ego would, say, have friends in high places, excel at brownnosing, and would gladly allow him/herself to be used as a tool, just as long as she gets what she/her deserves.

I know what you mean, she probably knows that she is doesn't have it, as she never really got closed enough to any ebola area or the sick.

Her agenda didn't started here in the US it was already planned, by her personally or perhaps others.

Alan Dershowitz - Maine Ebola Nurse 'Extraordinarily Selfish'

Former Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz characterized as "extraordinarily selfish" the Maine nurse threatening to sue over being quarantined upon her return from West Africa.

"When you live in a society like ours, which is interconnected, you have to make certain sacrifices in the interest of public health," he said Thursday on "America’s Forum" on Newsmax TV. "You may disagree with the nature of the quarantine or its scope, but it's certainly reasonable and the law certainly supports the power of the governor, the executive authorities in the state and the federal government to order quarantines if they're in any way reasonable."

Medical officials don’t yet know enough about just how contagious Ebola is and what kind of quarantine period is warranted, according to Dershowitz, so it’s best to "err on the side of public safety and public health." "People ought to comply and not selfishly try to bring lawsuits to challenge the public health measures that are taken," he said.

Hell flyers this news deserve a thread all on its own, this contradict the nurse, after all the attitude of the complaining nurse, is still of defiant to quarantine even when we know it works and people are getting sick now more after coming from ebola ridden countries.

I expect the cases to escalate accordingly, but if that stupid nurse attitude is encouraging those on quarantine to get out and expose others things are not going to look good.
