ATS CHATROOM - Anyone Else Having Dramas With It Atm ? [FIXED... or not]

I would be open to a member-initiated project for a new chat service under a few conditions...

1. No database, use JSON and a RESTful protocol in a JavaScript/HTML5 client

2. The results are free and open source.

3. It accept usernames & rights in a secure way, so that it can be integrated with any community.


There should be something like that out there, but there isn't.

Chat is up and running

In a response from 123FlashChat, they claimed the issue -- for which they didn't respond for days -- was that of improperly configured DNS.

Glad to have ATS chat back... Even if 123flashchat still suxors.

Also, if any of you guys/gals want to contribute to an open source chat project for ATS so that (maybe in the future) we no longer have to deal with the Chinese 3rd party hosts you can do so here: ats_chat project . It's very basic and not in any form of usable code at the moment as i just got started with it today. It will look very different as time goes on.

Also, if any of you are experienced with REST (it's what Facebook uses to keep all those wall updates streaming) I would love the help. I'm lacking in experience with it. I could stumble through it, learning as I go, but input is appreciated

We should create a collaborative thread if we get one or two more people. I'll do an announcement sometime soon.

Phenominal! I look forward to working on this with you and whoever else is able to get involved.

Open source is the tops and easily my favorite type of software. Some of the greatest additions to the computing world (GNU, Linux, FreeBSD) have all been accomplished as a community project and shared freely with anyone who takes the time to download them. It's always a good feeling to contribute something the rest of the open source world can enjoy with out having to pay for it.

I'm stoked!
