Do you think the US Public has a choice at what our leaders decide to do in war? You are no different than us in this regard.

Was it maybe Mr.Rogers??? either way dt core is still locked down..still shooters on the loose, if not and police/rcmp have shot/killed/detained more shooters, we have no choice to believe that they are still on the loose. Media isnt saying # about why half the city is still closed off. Something huge is happening here

You'll be relieved to know that the MPs were let out about two hours ago to go home, but the parliament building is still a crime scene, so I'm guessing that there will be no one around there tomorrow other than security forces.

So the MPs now take orders from the police? Maybe this whole operation was to send a message to the legislature as to who is really in charge now, eh.

Interesting. First time I saw/heard/read this. So he used to be a "good guy." I wonder if the group he fought with was armed by "us."

The gunman has been identified as Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, a Muslim convert who was born Michael Joseph Hall, who reportedly fought in Libya during the uprising which deposed strongman Moamar Gaddafi.

So he was a pawn then, and he's a pawn now.

Supposing he was once in the Armed forces in Libya, does it make sense that he would use the weapon he brought to parliament hill? People in the thread feel it was a Winchester .22

So home grown 'terrorist'.

Every western country has that problem.

And it is fueled by the 'internets'.

In response to the above - I thought "Well, the internet WAS originally a military project - perhaps it still is?"

But then - that's me going into insane tin foil hat territory.

I never said or commented about what we are experiencing today. Every Canadian in my opinion remembers what they were doing the moment of 9/11. All I was mentioning was that to attack Parliament Hill is a big impact on our country or anybodys country whether it be 1 or 100,000 people. We are all at War, it has come. Arm yourselfs.

Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, the slain 32-year-old suspected killer of a Canadian Forces soldier near Parliament Hill, was a labourer and small-time criminal – a man who had had a religious awakening and seemed to have become mentally unstable. Mr. Zehaf-Bibeau was born in 1982 and was the son of Bulgasem Zehaf, a Quebec businessman who appears to have fought in 2011 in Libya, and Susan Bibeau, the deputy chairperson of a division of Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Board. The two were divorced in 1999.

He didn't fight in Libya. His father may have.
In 2011 he was being charged with a mugging in BC.

How can that be? Tactical teams went in many hours ago via peace tower - surely if there was a dude/dudette holed up in a room somewhere they would have stormed in an neutralised them by now?

*scratches head*

also - welcome to ATS , thank you for providing info

If the man in this article is his father, which the Globe and Mail article alleges. It's the same name and he is a man who lived in Montreal. Then yes his father was a Libyan rebel.

Thanks. My source was completely unclear.

I wonder if CSIS or the RCMP were monitoring fighters in Libya as they seem to be with ISIS fighters. I sure hope so, but I have a bad feeling they may have slipped through the cracks since they were "our terrorists."

I doubt they were monitored. There would have been no reason at the time. I'm not even sure they have all the facts straight yet. Unless he is adopted, which wouldn't be released to the public in Canada, it almost seems American and Canadian news reports are talking about two different individuals. Guess we find out when the dust settles.

Hey, i was sleeping.

I just saw on news, that the first time the photo we saw ( with the gun ).

It was post on twitter by a anonymus, then was deleted... It was unclear what i hear, but maybe it was post to a police account ( So maybe it's just a way a security guard asked to send a photo to the police and he did it via twitter )

But it's weird, could be a plot-hole for conspiracy lol, how and why the photo was posted? ( i saw it here first, before twitter ) But we will sure know tommorow or the next days.

Annnnnnnnnnnnd tommorow, F-16 jets that will attack Isis will be film and show "live" on News media here... Harper will surely refer to it in the parlement.

Btw, the election are set for next year. And was rumors of early election past week. Before the liberal with Justin Trudeau are in advance in the poll!

All this story will maybe help Harper ( he is the right-wing bush-a-like, pro-war ).

It's surely not a conspiracy, but it would make a crazy good stealh/espionnage movie!

And lastly, here in Quebec, news channel are running 24h/7. With "open line", so citizen are calling and talking. Lol and1 guy talk about it's a false flag and was stopped by the animator haha.

It irritates me as a first-generation American to hear the "holier than thou" Canadian response of..."it's one thing if it's America...that's to be expected...but this is Canada."

Ive been in this thread from the start, and no one has had a "holier than thou" attitude against the States. No one compared it to 9/11 (other than being an excuse to pass Reichstag laws)

In fact, it was the AMERICAN news (CNN) who compared the killing of one man to the attack by Breivik who bombed and shot hundreds of children in the name of white power and zionism, and then said he wasnt a "terrorist" but rather a "mentally ill" man.

The fact is this just isnt the kind of thing to happen here. Shootings happen so rarely here.
