Id have to agree this isn't the greatest and definitely not the most comprehensive study on this subject..

OG

Then why did you present it to ATS?

Because I felt it needed presenting, It does not need to be the greatest thing since sliced bread in order to be shared here on ATS. So how about being grateful or not posting such silly questions at all. As the saying goes, "If you dont have anything intelligent to say..." you know the rest!

This study sounds like a conspiracy to me.

The social engineers think, well if a conspiracy theorist is made sane they will more likely drop it since many do it to be anti conformists.

I see a conspiracy!

Anyways, this is interesting.
Funny. I was the same, thinking the study and article might be a conspiracy. Must be that conspiratorial intuition. Most likely the psychiatrists have a diagnosis for it. (what don't they have a diagnosis for by the way?)

This whole thread makes me think of Robert Sapolsky. He said that a schizotypal person is someone "who is really into science fiction". I think you guys might enjoy some of his talks, although like me perhaps not agree on everything he says. Here's some examples below. I think Robert Sapolsky seems to be a great example of the antithesis of someone of a conspiratorial nature, he also says himself that he has no spirituality at all. I feel sorry for such people. The world is so much more interesting when you believe there's something unseen and unspoken affecting your perceived reality.

You should maybe live by your own words, as you've presented 1) by your own admission, a crap study and 2) wrong conclusions from the study..

The thread evoked a pretty good exchange of opinion, and some humor.

Why do you come into threads and tell other members how to think or how to conduct themselves?

Yeah, and as a patient I can tell you that the vast majority of psychiatrists are drug peddling big pharma shills.

You'd be surprised if you really knew what really goes on in this world, stuff that would blow a lot of people's mind, stuff that would always seem silly and out there in comparison with the mundane, so far away from people's frame of reference it might as well be fantasy or science fiction.
But some of us do know by virtue of experience, to us, we are not the insane ones, the insane ones are running this asylum.

So of course most people will call it woo woo or whatever, that is merely ad hominem attacks, they're talking out of ignorance, they haven't even had the privilege of being able to weigh both positions. They're not fit to even evaluate the subject matter. Though, a skeptical view would of course be understandable in lieu of evidence through experience.

I was a BX Therapist...not a psychiatrist, two very different fields. I chose my profession as I don't believe in pill pushing unless absolutely necessary. I attempted to fix the problem not bandage it.

I do believe in several conspiracies, however I approach every concept logically. I verify my references and do not substitute any holes in a theory with stretched conjecture. I worked for one of the most advanced technology companies in the world that would dwarf giants like Intel, Freescale and others. Blackwater was our security force at some fabs. I know much of what's going on and what the public is unaware of. I remain in contact with individuals from said company and others like Lockheed. I know the truth, but do my best at uncovering it while too many members on CT sites make vastly wild claims with little to no grounds of evidence because they "feel" it or it was during a "psychic connection". There's a reason why people look at us as loons...because most of us are.

See now that seems like you're in the process of formulating a conspiracy about hawk because you don't like his stance/opinion.

Laughing god (is this a reference to W40k?) Most conspiracy theorists give us a bad name by forming inaccurate conclusions, similar to yours in that someone in the psychological field and not the psychiatric would prescribe meds...and you admitted you've taken meds...so where does this put us now?

What a bummer. Now they are saying that I am sane? I don't want to be considered normal, that is so boring.

Don't worry, there's still plenty of room for abnormality while remaining sane. You're safe for now

LOL

"Scientific studies" Riiighhtt.

I was curious (actual critical thinking) and looked up publications to see if such studies existed.
Turns out they do.
Here are some real studies.Conspiracist ideation in Britain and Austria: evidence of a monological belief system and associations between individual psychological differences and real-world and fictitious conspiracy theories.

With the way that conspiracy theorists tend to be so dogmatic with their "theories", I'd say that they are just as prone to being indoctrinated as the sheeple they are always going on about. Just because you disagree with the official story, doesn't automatically make you a critical thinker. So many conspiracy theorists fail to make that connection.

Then what was that glowing dripping stuff coming off the side of the building???

Oh I know, there was a floor that housed a bunch of solder...and it was melting solder dripping off the side of the building...

We should just check the materials that were collected afterwards and see if there is any melted slag. We can do an analysis of it to find out what temperatures were reached...

OHHH That's right, it was shipped off and sold to the Chinese immediately afterwards, so we can't do that...

Move along folks, nothing to see here, nothing to see...

Where is that critical thinking???
