Saw this today:

UK could see 10 ebola cases by Christmas: Hunt's warning as Heathrow screening starts today

Read more: www.dailymail.co.uk... bs

What?!? Why?? Why are they not locking down the borders?

I feel as if they are drip feeding us information as to not cause mass panic. If I'm honest, it wouldn't surprise me if it was already here but we're not being told. I know the article is published by the Daily M(F)ail, but if they are putting all this effort into screening at Gatwick and Heathrow and making such an effort to assure us that we'll be fine, why would they tell us we'll still get cases?

Also, what about our other airports, such as Stanstead?

What makes me very nervous is that we get a lot of illegal immigrants sneaking onto boats and arriving via the Calais-Dover connection. And France is very close to Africa. In fact, I'm surprised at the lack of cases there.

The whole thing is very unnerving...

Thoughts?

Ebola will most certainly continue to spread unfortunately many more will die. We will eventually discover a vaccine or a treatment that reduces mortality, this evident throughout history at times we may be late to adress a true crisis but always we previal. This is concerning and certainly ebola will reach the U.K its here in the U.S i wouldnt fear to much, but pay attention stay vigilant listen to your instinct and assessment of situation to determine the time to make huge lifestyle changes and be prepared to implement . Most of all think clear under pressure dont panic, its better to be tried by twelve then carried by six.

10......
How many people will die of flu by Christmas? I know many many more.
Iam not worried one bit, the reason it spread in Africa is that they have 1 doc per 100,000 people and no where near the medical facilities we have.
Not worried one bit, it is scare mongering to sell newspapers, come on guys ATS didn't fall for the bird flu or swine flu why this?.

Errr,...Umm,...Is that like ten entering the country?
Or is that like ten homegrown cases????
Or do they mean returned aid workers?
This sounds like preparatory propaganda that gets people prepared mentally for expected crises in increments.....
"Hello,... well weve had to raise our expectations for ebola...now we expect a hundred or maybe more.....but don't panic ....its under control...."

Your right, a cool head is certainly wise. I'm not in "panic mode" so to speak, I'm just feeling apprehensive. I am confident in my preparedness and my skills, however...when speaking to my friends and family about this...they're not taking it seriously in the slightest. It seems a lot of people aren't even vaguely concerned, which is where mistakes get made. Thanks for the great reply

Fortunately, every patient gets a warning that is something wrong through having a fever and feeling achy like they have the flu (which is another viral infection).

Thing is, we're hitting cold and flu season...what if people misdiagnose themselves, meanwhile touching things in supermarkets and public transport?

This strain was supposedly slightly under 50% death rate.

All news is now reporting that 70% infected die. Quite a jump. How long before we are at the normal 90% for Ebola.

Not looking good.

Yep ... I think you are right! It's prep-propaganda!
And it's not just in the UK ...it's all over the EU.
They're not giving any information on the one side ...and if they do give a little bit of info: it leaves us with more and more questions.

Your welcome, remember do not listen to what other people think, you should do with your personal well being. Rather take the information given to you evaluate and decide if it is worthy of plan b or just mongering. No matter what you do in the event of a true ebola virus disaster dont listen to others take your life firmy in your hands. People say many things much of it worthless and fodder for the less focused just listen to your instinct im sure you have a good head on your shoulders so you will be fine. To those who arent paying attention, bring facts and researched information into the discussion if this dose still not lend any attention. You are better to not waste your breath and sit quietly and preparing but always hoping disaster is not near.

You all know why the DM said 10 cases...that's two handfulls, innit!

Three days ago,

The first Ebola cases will soon emerge in the UK according to the government’s chief medical officer, who said the country should expect “a handful” of people to fall ill with the disease in coming months.

Just remember that, per the Scotish Referendum, 2.5 of those UK Ebola cases better occur in Scotland!
