for the last few days
i've been seeing this lady Tyra Banks
doing the rounds on all the morning propaganda shows
empowering women with her cosmetics
and visibly annoying various hosts
with her constant type-A bipolar self-worship

/shakes head
usually i do a much nicer rant but this is just way too sad

the condition is seen & 'nurtured' in others like miley cyrus, justin bieber, amanda bynes, etc etc etc
aka: celebrity syndrome

what i keep seeing here.. is people being trained for certain things
and this makes their brain & internal chemistry function a certain way
ie: such-and-such a person is a coffee machine and functions as such
they all reach a point in their life when suddenly
they're no longer the coffee machine they were used to being
(all the chemistry has changed) and it all stems from that
(coffee machine = materialistic device)

seeing these people constantly being used using themselves to SELL the lifestyle to others is a tragedy..
..because as far as they're concerned- they really think they're doing a good thing

it's like watching some wretched emperor cavort around naked..
..i thought i was supposed to enjoy seeing the pretty lady naked?
/shrugs

on GMA she did the "one eye" thing
her brand logo makes clever use of the one-eye
she had the inside track on the new "face of the morning" selfie campaign
(of course she did, she's an 'insider' of sorts)
when she's interviewed live, she is asked a question and stumbles & improvises her way through the answer (a bit like how bush could wax lyrical on war for hours, yet fumble his way through the most mundane of speeches, but i digress)
she occasionaly flexes, grimaces & grunts about 'female empowerment'

everything about her is blatantly fake but she probably believes she's keepin' it real

ah, sweet..
see how this all works?
the honorable sen. Kirslen Gillibrand is now on the news spruiking her book 'offering' on female empowerment
yadda yadda & remember that recent 'ban the word bossy' campaign
and how about pop-artist (i use the term loosely, of course) PINK with her own brand of feminine hijinks
blah blah blah

(ah there we go, back in rant form)

edit on 8-10-2014 by UNIT76 because: FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

yo trolls- she not "illuminati"
is artist Rodriguez Veraga illuminati?
with his giant face "OUT OF MANY, ONE" artworks?
(OUT OF MANY, ONE : E PLURIBUS UNUM)
go check out the U.S. $1 note
& the topic here on pink floyds (supposed) unsolved 'mystery' the riddle of the people

What exactly is your rant about???

What's wrong with empowerment?
If it was a woman who was not a celebrity, would it be assertiveness or would you still feel the same?

I love Tyra Banks. I've followed her for many years. She's a successful business woman who really cares about people. We need more celebrities like her.

Those who need to help others and shout it from roof tops are hypocrites. Those who only strategically help others when there is a camera to profit from it are hypocrites. Don't be fooled by these false idols.

Woman are not empowered by make up, on the contrary they are convinced that they should look like something they are not, hence they need to "make up". I place shame on men too, men who choose woman with more make up for the temporary pleasure make up provides, combined with alcohol you can make any woman desirable. You want to call that equality? I call it false sense of security.

I am all for working men and woman, each should be remunerated according to their skill and work. But, this woman power business is just that, business and nothing else. Yet another illusion sold to woman, who seem to be traumatized with the way they look at a very young age.

Wake up ladies, these woman are playing with your emotions. Cosmetics was used to compete for the heart of a man, now it is used for selfish reasons, the make up wearer is competing for their own hearts. Sad.

Well, I personally find "women's" empowerment to be gender coddling, because empowerment is empowerment, you need just be you, not specifically male or female, to have self-confidence & seize the world's opportunities. That said, the OP's argument belongs where the sun doesn't shine. If make-up gives someone a sense of empowerment by way of total control of your bodily aesthetics and how you are presented to others, so be it, that control of self is the root of empowerment. The same is often said for clothes, in favor of it being empowering by the same types who routinely complain about that other aesthetic -- make-up -- being some detriment. Ergo, OP's opinion means about as much as which TP brand I use.

And I don't even use make-up.

I could list many more examples here of celebrity do-gooders - but, since this is just about Tyra...

The Tyra Banks TZONE Foundation invests in girls and young women to help them realize their ambitions, discover new possibilities within themselves, and approach life’s challenges with fierce determination.

Some people - put their money where their mouth is - Tyra is OK by me

Some people are catty and judgmental

Having money or celebrity doesn't make someone less of a person than me or you - it just makes them rich and or famous

When they behave badly - we see it because they are rich and famous. I've known quite a few people who've behaved very badly in the past - but you'll never hear about them...they are nobodies just like you and me

She has done so much over the years to help kids, women, overweight people, gay people and black people feel better about themselves! It's really amazing! I can only assume that those who think she's all about makeup don't know squat about her.

And without her celebrity, she wouldn't be able to reach the numbers that she has.

I've always admired her. She is a gorgeous young woman that wisely figured out that modeling isn't forever - and she's in a unique position because of her fame to do some real good

Lady Gaga is another I admire - there's so many more

I get the OP's frustration though...

I'm not one for making threads - but I came pretty close to doing a rant about Bill Maher :-)

I thought better of it

Sometimes famous people sorta encapsulate everything we don't like about people - it's hard to remember that they're just people

Rich and Famous people only SEE how it is, they dont LIVE it.

If you give 100million to a person who is about to go homeless and tell them to spend this money to make the world a better place, they would do a better job.

Empowerment through make up(a false cover)? The Irony.

I think Tyra is one of the better celebrities. At least she seems somewhat real, and she seems to really care about people. Her ANTM show has strayed a little from where it started at, but you'll notice she still picks out a girl that could use more confidence and she helps them achieve the confidence level that is needed. I know it's scripted, but you see some of these girls go on and do other things. She's been really good at boosting people up. I admire that, and I hope she never changes that.

I'm kind of confused about your rant. Is it about female empowerment? Is it about empowerment via makeup? Is it because it's a celebrity? I don't understand.

I don't see what's wrong with empowering women. The feeling of empowerment doesn't come with all women, it surely didn't come with me.

No, people are selfish. You give 100 million dollars to a person about to go homeless, and you'll see them spend the majority of it on bullcrap they don't need. It's like people who grow up poor. When they actually have money, they buy all the stuff they wanted when they were younger.

She's not trying to empower women with make up, as the OP asserts. She's empowering them to be their own boss and take control of their lives.

Tyra Beauty isn’t just about dabbing on some lipstick or painting on some foundation, Tyra’s trying to help empower others to be their own boss. That’s why you won’t be able to find Tyra Beauty in any of your favorite department stores. You’ve got to find private vendor

“My goal is to help you become the CEO of your life,” Tyra explained. “You can start your own business by selling Tyra Cosmetics.

please view the signature link for more info on what all this is about
(the transhumanism-jolie/gaga topic might also be of interest?)

thanks for the assist.
(because that says it all, doesn't it?)

the OLD WORLD ORDER had it that a man & a woman would have union, and THAT would be THEIR (shared) "business" (as you put it)

but the NEW WORLD ORDER (where she buys her own diamonds & buys her own rings, or whatever Beyonce said) has it that the man & the women have DISPENSED away with their counterpart and are now mired in the FALSE POLARITY UNION where they attempt to balance their own inner SUN & MOON (male & female aspects)

now, what i've just typed there is several steps REMOVED from this false "empowerment" issue, but it is the end result, the destination - that is what it's all about

..and the links are there for anyone who is interested & willing to contribute

Well in this day and age empowerment merely means buying lots and lots of product. There was an article and even here on ATS a thread sometime back about how Tyra Banks or I believe its her because its hard to tell with these females now a days whos who, or what the deal is supposed to be. But anyways there was a video of were her and her more lets say curvy helper girl were in Africa doing who knows what some service to help mankind out and sell some products I think.

But anyways I think in the vid she had a hissy fit because none of the men there would so much as look at her and were all over her helper, I think at one point they even compared her to a man and said that women should have more meat on them.

I cant find the video now but its hilarious.

OK I didnt find the video of Tyra Banks in africa, but I found something better.

This video, its about some girl who was raised on a conservationist farm in the African bushland all her life, and even among bushmen as she speaks there language. Forget that makeups #, but even though those who use it may need it. What females really need to learn is how to handle and tame wild animals, its been the downfall of the west that we let things get this far we literally helped create this monster that is roaming around now. Eww, hey maybe we should start sending them to Africa so they can learn some basics instead this whole commercialized bullsnip females always go for.

But anyways skip to the 12:00 min mark, this chick has some moxy, watch how she messes with the cheetahs then eventually gets close to one and starts petting it. In all its a cool video, especially that cheetah part, and the reaction of the bushman when he sees the sea, he starts shaking and everything. Its very interesting.

(highly encoded)

..that's what the feminine polarity does- keeps the "wild animal" (male polarity) in check

(thanks)

an oil tanker can be as big & powerful as it cares to be...
..without that important rudder (female polarity) to steer it
it may as well just be going around & around in circles..
..does that sound like anyone you know?

So you're ranting about the fact that she's helping women become their own boss via selling cosmetics?
Isn't that the same thing as what Mary Kay, Avon, Scentsy, Herbalife and all of those companies do? You sell product in order to become your own boss.

Why is it any different when Tyra does it? It's not. Aside from the fact that it's probably more expensive.

I dont think it matters that much though females should probably want to look for a bit better role models, also they seem to be easily influenced by such things on the tubes or by pretty much any group or entity with a bit of mental projection ability and subverting skills.

I would say on a daily basis on the average the female gender are more easily subverted by any such means or even more sophisticated mental constructs by groups or beings who dither in such things, that's probably not a good thing either. In all a little sanity may be a better thing then a whole lot of makeup. But obviously there must be some sort of ration to which this whole thing would balance itself out, something like 50% makeup, 50% sanity, 50/50 no doubt. It would lead to a lot less dramas I think.

But anyways on to more important topics, did you watch the vid with that chick with the lions and making friends with the cheetahs, or that bushmen, must be a pretty freaky and bizarre experience to see the sea for the first time in your life or even be the only one in whole generations to see it. Its like something out of the gods must be crazy movie, which to remind myself I need to re-watch one of these days, its a classic by now.
