I'd guess there's a rush on in quarantining his family, tracking his movements, impounding or just burning his car, and anything anyone in a position of authority can do right now to contain possible infectious people and surfaces. Much of this, and probably they are moving fast, should be in place by the time of the press conference (about 15 minutes).

As menntioned in another thread on ATS….what about the aircraft…..? how many flights has it made since….?

The virus (if present) can last for several days on surfaces as it's infectivity diminishes…..

Makes you think really…..

Why, oh why was air traveled not canceled to and from these countries?

Thankfully I moved from Texas back in May. All you Texans need to carry little spray bottles of alcohol with tea tree oil. Wimpy hand sanitizers won't keep you safe.

Good news for big pharma...

Ebola Stocks Surge After First U.S. Case Diagnosed

means scary news for everyone else.

Seeing people cash in on these types of things (and seeing a headline about it) really rubs me the wrong way.

Any suggestion/s on what ratio (water to tea tree oil)?

Explains the free travel to and from the infected countries.

Ever feel like a commodity?

Wow... News travels fast! CDC press conference starting now, the market is already closed and stock prices have already been affected?! Stinks of insider trading and some people being privy to information before the rest of us, giving them an unfair advantage on SOOOOO... Many levels! Their health and wealth are more important than mine!? WTF!!!

As much tea tree oil as you can stand. It's very antiseptic smelling, but at least 10 drops for 4oz of alcohol. It is safe on the skin. I clean with the stuff.

During the flu and cold season I ad tea tree oil to my humidifier, helps kill the nasties that may have made their way into my respiratory system. There are all sorts of essential oils that will kill bacteria and viruses.

Use alcohol, not water.

Be prepared , i hope the worst doesn't happen but how many surfaces or people did this guy come in contact with? It could soon spiral out of control and even the best facility's in the world would not cope with a mass outbreak

Life will find a way

So find a FRIKKEN way in the worst case scenario..

Stock up , buy water purification equipment, avoid contact , keep the kids off school.... fill in the blanks!

So why hasn't the government banned flights from infected areas? Why are our borders still open? If it grows in Mexico will that change? Or...is this the beginning of the progressive plan of killing off a majority of the population?

Lots of choices here and I guess it is too late. We will see how this progresses but you have seen the first...not the last. Martial law, take away guns, health-care comes into play, the economy, etc. This could well be the plan.

Here is the latest...
He left Liberia on the 19th
Arrived in Texas the 20th
Had a fever on the 24th
Sought medical help on the 26th
Admitted to Presby on the 28th
CDC confirms Ebola today...
There is a lot of opportunity to spread this in that timeframe sick on the plane or not.

Next we will find out he worked at a sorting office for the Post Office or a WalMart Distribution Center and went to work sick.

I don't like the evasion of the question, "is he an American citizen?" The only, repeated, reply to that question is, he was visiting family.

Is he Liberian? Is he an American who visited Liberia and then came back to visit family in Texas? I know patients have confidentiality rights and I respect that but, this is just an odd response to me.

Why can't he say whether or not he is an American?

If he is Liberian it speaks volumes to the fact that air travel was not controlled in and out of infected areas. With Pharma stocks already surging from this announcement I suspect that keeping the lid on who they are is paramount.

Agreed, that's what is striking me as worrisome. I don't even like Americans going over there to help and coming back (it's tolerable - knowing/hoping that precautions are in place for that), but letting Liberians or peoples from other infected countries travel out of country (to the U.S. or anywhere) is just, well, stupid.

I half expected that report to say that
he was connected to ISIS, and he volunteered to get sick

Ebola has been around for decades, I'm very sure there have been others in the past with ebola flown to the states unknowingly, I don't think it spreads so easily in a clean society. I think the news of it is more scary than the virus.
